The page said that there were no external references. I was trying to point people to such an external reference that would be available through a good library. It was NOT promotional material - if you are the authority here (and as you are issuing warnings I guess you must be) maybe you would be so kind as to tell me how I should have gone about it? I could not edit the top line of the page to try and add a reference to Crockfords - which is the official definative list of Anglican Clergy in the United Kingdom and which confirms much of the biographical information on the page. (Not the book list but the year of Birth, date of Ordination, history of Parishes served in - date of retirement etc) Jumpin63 (talk) 20:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I checked out the Crockfords Clerical Directory site. This site requires registration or a paid subscription and sites like that shouldn't be included in the External links section of an article because they are of limited use for many (or most) readers. You could cite the Directory as a source of information when adding or confirming material to the article. How to do that is described here: WP:Citing sources. I hope I didn’t discourage you from editing Wikipedia. I added a welcome message on the top of your talk page with many useful links. --Iohannes Animosus (talk) 16:44, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
