List of Articles to link with Fugitive Gas Emissions[edit]

There are already several links within this sandbox to existing Wikipedia Articles. Feel free to add any more that you feel necessary!

As we cannot (should not?) link to our page from other articles until it goes live on the mainspace, list suggestions here of articles that it would be appropriate to link to our page from. Preferably, think of a sentence to add to these articles to make the linking to our page flow more naturally.

Oil well article: Under Cost section, change "The total cost of an oil well mentioned does not include the costs associated with the risk of explosion and leakage of oil. Those costs include the cost of protecting against such disasters, the cost of the cleanup effort, and the hard-to-calculate cost of damage to the company's image." to "The total cost of an oil well mentioned does not include the costs associated with the risk of explosion, leakage of oil, or fugitive gas emissions. Those costs include the cost of protecting against such disasters, the cost of the cleanup effort, and the hard-to-calculate cost of damage to the company's image."

Other suggestions welcome. --JustJordan (talk) 04:40, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BC Oil and Gas Commission article: Under Purpose section, change "The OGCs purposes are to (a) regulate fossil fuel activities, i.e. the petroleum industry, which includes but is not limited to petroleum licensing, regulating hydrocarbon exploration, oil and gas well drilling, shale oil extraction, natural gas processing, oil pipeline in British Columbia in a manner that" to "The OGCs purposes are to (a) regulate fossil fuel activities, i.e. the petroleum industry, which includes but is not limited to petroleum licensing, regulating hydrocarbon exploration, oil and gas well drilling, shale oil extraction, natural gas processing, oil pipelines, and fugitive gas emissions in British Columbia in a manner that" --JustJordan (talk) 00:58, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Links to other Wikipedia articles[edit]

Hi Jordan, when we establish a link to another Wiki article, should we put the hyperlink under the word when it first appears or everywhere it appears? For example, I noticed that for the link under "well casings", the word was not hyperlinked when it first appeared (first line of first paragraph) but was hyperlinked when it appeared for the second time (first line of third paragraph). Would it be better if we put the hyperlink under the "well casings" in the first line (and maybe remove the link elsewhere)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardlwiki (talkcontribs) 21:55, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Richard! That's definitely what we should go for. I think I have tried to make sure the first instance is hyperlinked everywhere, but if I've missed some feel free to fix that. :) And you're right, it should probably only be linked the first time, and not the times after. --JustJordan (talk) 21:28, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan, I have been thinking about what other wiki articles we could be linking to ours, and I figured perhaps that we should link it to 'Leak detection' 'Pipeline Transport' and maybe even 'gas leak'. As most of the fugitive emissions are definitely related to this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VicWatt (talkcontribs) 01:09, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is also one called: 'Tracer-gas leak testing' — Preceding unsigned comment added by VicWatt (talkcontribs) 01:12, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Great! We'll keep those in mind for when it goes live. I've linked to the four you suggested below.
Leak detection, Pipeline transport, Gas leak, Tracer-gas leak testing

Addressing issues stemming from fugitive gas emissions[edit]

Maybe we should include this in the "Policy" section...

A necessary condition to successfully regulate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is the capacity to monitor and quantify the emissions before and after the regulations are in place... and mention the uncertainty regarding the accuracy of inventory levels of methane emissions — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tiago Morais (talkcontribs) 01:13, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tiago, that sounds like a good addition! Do you remember which reference would be related to this? --JustJordan (talk) 21:31, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found the necessary condition one in the policy paper haha. Is there one you'd suggest for the uncertainty? --JustJordan (talk) 21:49, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I've added these to the main body. :) --JustJordan (talk) 20:39, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jordan, let's use the figure that Tiago and I made this morning for the gas migration and surface casing vent flow. Tiago will upload the new figure to wiki commons shortly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DylanRileyUofC (talkcontribs) 22:35, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds great! I'll add it to the page when we get it online. :) --JustJordan (talk) 23:21, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Tiago! What about the new-new figure for the tech paper - the updated GM/SCVF one? Do we want that online? (It looks gorgeous, I love it!) --JustJordan (talk) 16:48, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
