Thanks for your addition to wikipedia. But this would be more suitable in a detailed article such as Immigration to Australia or Immigration history of Australia rather than the general high-level article Australia. thanks --Merbabu (talk) 02:10, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you also please stop marking all your edits as minor edits. Adding three paragraphs is far from a minor edit. Even if your intentions are good, adding three paragraphs and marking it as minor makes other editors think you are trying to slip through information you don't want checked. Editing talk page comments

[edit]

Hi. I just thought I'd point out that editing or deleting comments that you have made on talk pages, as you did here, after others have replied to them, is generally seen as being inappropriate. Normal practice is to strike out comments that you wish to withdraw. Deletion tends to rob any replies of their context and can create confusion. You can read more at Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. --AussieLegend (talk) 12:52, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:House price vs CPI vs Cost of construction.pdf

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:House price vs CPI vs Cost of construction.pdf. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  fetchcomms 02:04, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Banks - Consolidated Group Impaired Assets 1999 -2009.pdf. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Slon02 (talk) 03:57, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

image issues

[edit]

Hi, these PDFs are being removed because you were entering "Author = RBA and ABS" and "Source = RBA". If these files came from the RBA or ABS, we need to confirm that the files have been released under an acceptable license (the ABS releases a lot of content under Creative Commons.)

On the other hand, if the data points came from the RBA or ABS, and you created the graph, then you are the author, and you should credit the source in the Description field or in the images as you have done with File:Land Inflation in Australia 1986 - 2009.pdf. Did you create the graphs in the files File:Lending stats for investors (1990-2010).pdf, File:Banks - Consolidated Group Impaired Assets 1999 -2009.pdf, File:House price vs CPI vs Cost of construction.pdf and File:Australia - Established House Prices - all capitals to 1989 -2009.pdf ?

If so, I will undelete them for you. John Vandenberg (chat) 03:26, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John,
Re the page 'Australian Property Bubble'
Not sure if I have this correct and thanks for your work in leaving the message.
All except one of the charts I created used data from spreadsheets from RBA website.
The exception is the "File:Australia - Established House Prices - all capitals to 1989 -2009.pdf". I found it somewhere.
"File:Land Inflation in Australia 1986 - 2009.pdf, File:Lending stats for investors (1990-2010).pdf, File:Banks - Consolidated Group Impaired Assets 1999 -2009.pdf, and File:House price vs CPI vs Cost of construction.pdf" were created by myself as author.
I will credit the source in the Description field or in the images as done with File:Land Inflation in Australia 1986 - 2009.pdf.
Thanks in advance if you can reinstate these charts. Cheers justdata4wiki
No worries; I have restored those for you. Please do update the descriptions and ensure they are tagged with the license you wish to use. John Vandenberg (chat) 09:21, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Justdata4wiki!

You have contributed a number of charts/images to the Australian property bubble article. Can you provide any more detail on the sources for these? Do you have the data points available? At least one of the charts (File:Landgdp2010.PNG) appears to have been sourced from "Prosper", a slightly fringe group based in Melbourne. Are the others sourced from the same place? cheers --Thepm (talk) 12:53, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thepm.
All of the pricing/finance related charts I created used data from RBA databases. I don't know who has put that LandGDP chart in the page. You can delete if appropriate. I am a bit short on time at the moment but will have a look at adding detail to sources for the charts when I have some more free time (should be within 2 months).
Thanks by the way for all the work you have done on rationalising and removing the emotive language in the page. I think I ended up writing the page for my own entertainment to some degree.
It was only recently that I checked this 'User talk' tab again and realised there are new messages, so apologies for delay in replying. --Justdata4wiki (talk) 21:13, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this. I'll delete the Land/GDP chart for now. We can work towards tightening up the cites for the other charts. No rush.
I'm going to continue the clean-up of that article as well. From time to time I'll leave comments on the talk page. If you have a bit of time to respond, I'd really appreciate the input. cheers! --Thepm (talk) 01:19, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I note that Established_House_Prices_1989-90_to_2010.pdf is not your own work despite your claim on the file page that it is. It has been copied directly from the RBA website. See the link "Dwelling Prices" at the above url.
Australian_Household_Finances_-_Debt_and_Interest_2010.pdf is not your own work despite your claim on the file page that it is. It has been copied directly from the RBA website. See the link "Household Finances" at the above url.
House_Price_to_Income_Ratios_1985_-_2007.pdf is not your own work despite your claim on the file page that it is. It has been copied directly from an RBA paper. See page 30 at the above url.
I am concerned about Global House Price Value.pdf, which is currently cited as "The Economist". Which edition and page number?
Please review all of the images you have uploaded and correct the details accordingly. --Thepm (talk) 02:13, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
