Thanks, first question[edit]

Thanks for this page. My first question is regarding this page that I created: Dickens' women. I need to change the title to Dickens' Women but I can't work out how to change it. C.harrison1988 (talk) 11:03, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, well if you travel to the article in question, at the top of it (and I mean right at the top) you should see a selection of "tabs", namely "Article, Discussion, Edit this page, History, Move, Watch". You want to hit the "Move" tab, which starts the process which will allow you to move, or rather retitle the page to a new title. Does that help? On a simillar note to that, you might wish to "Watch" this page - have you noticed your Watchlist? --Jza84 |  Talk  11:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. The watchlist seems very useful, I've been bookmarking in my browser so far. C.harrison1988 (talk) 11:26, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Upload[edit]

I tried to upload an image to the Miriam Margolyes page. I found an image that was Creative Commons on Flickr and got in touch with the owner for permission. He said he'd be delighted for the picture to be on Wikipedia. However, I can't upload it because I haven't been registered four days or more. Could you upload the picture for me?

And for future reference, is there a way to document the fact that I've sought the owner's permission on a photograph as evidence that Wikipedia has the right to use it? C.harrison1988 (talk) 12:21, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This image of the M60 motorway was taken from Flickr and is now stored at WikiCommons: Images at WikiCommons can be displayed here with no issue.
Hello there!
Well, if the image is licenced under one which is compatable with Wikipedia, or rather Wikimedia servers, I would strongly recommend you upload the image to Wikipedia's sister site: commons.wikimedia.org. You should be able to create an account there, and, I believe, upload an image straight away. Images at WikiCommons can be displayed on Wikipedia in exactly the same way as any other.
I've pegged an image to the right to show an example. Images stored at WikiCommons have the benefit of being used in other projects, and on Wikipedia's non-English language encyclopedias. Does that help? --Jza84 |  Talk  12:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Huge help. I'm going to get an account there now. I track down copyright permission often for my degree so I want to get it right here too. Thanks C.harrison1988 (talk) 12:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Copyright for images is a major pain, but, as you've rightly noted, has to be respected, for obvious reasons. Give me a shout if there's any problems over at Commons. --Jza84 |  Talk  13:00, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any luck with the image? --Jza84 |  Talk  23:56, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
