Disambiguation link notification for June 21[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2024 IKF U21 World Korfball Championship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Turkey Time. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For your work on Korfball in the Netherlands. Thank you for being an awesome Wikipedian! gidonb (talk) 15:15, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please really limit this to the clubs already created, i.e. current and former top tier. The seasons for the second division may also be too much of a good thing. I would hate for you to work hard to no avail. Let's keep this manageable! gidonb (talk) 02:16, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would warn against:

Such articles will not survive AfDs and already have been removed from the main space. On the other hand, U17 Korfball World Cup can probably survive but hasn't been created. Furthermore, the country name is "Netherlands" – or the "Netherlands" in FULL sentence structure – NOT "The Netherlands". This is a common error for folks living in the Netherlands. Again, the warnings are to protect you from disappointments. Many folks join WP, create too many articles, then leave because articles weren't kept. There already is a debate about Korfbalvereniging KCC, an article I view as notable. gidonb (talk) 06:41, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tips! A few weeks ago I tried to create a wikipage for IKF U21 World Korfball Championship (since the next event is about to start coming Saturday) but it was indeed deemed as not relevant quite quickly, so I ended up working on 2024 IKF U21 World Korfball Championship which somehow survived. For this reason I thought to focus on the individual (recent) events for U17 WC and eventually create the general page for U17 Korfball World Cup. I must admit it is sometimes confusing with what will survive or not and also disappointing but it is what it is. K0m0d0r3 (talk) 07:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anytime. 2024 IKF U21 World Korfball Championship probably just wasn't noted. If an event is found to be not notable, then the annual iterations surely aren't notable. I must admit it is sometimes confusing with what will survive or not and also disappointing but it is what it is. Right that's why I warned you. Beat the system! Flesh out topics that are notable, rather than creating many articles that will be delated. An overview of sports events with a medal, and a hosting table can be informative as well. I'll take a look at IKF U21 World Korfball Championship. gidonb (talk) 09:23, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I worked on the first record of the result table yet. As I said: I would split this up. Something along the lines of:

  • Hosts (year, edition, venue, host city, host country, references)
  • Results (year, champion, runner-up, third, references)
  • Medals (country, gold#, silver#, bronze#)

Along these lines. See also what has been done elsewhere. And for references, please try to find SIGCOV in real press, if possible national, if not regional, and not listings at web sites. gidonb (talk) 09:45, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is info about korfball is quite scarce. This is the main reason I decided to make the wiki pages. The official websites are not that great and sometimes it is difficult to have a clear overview regarding what happened for a specific league or event. So I am trying to help myself (hopefully other people as well) and in the process make korfball more accessible to people not able to read Dutch (or not willing to dig through the Dutch websites). I understand the concern, however, notability is impacted by the coverage in independent media. We do not inform the media (well, we rarely do) yet are informed by the media. If, for example, equity concerns cause you to be upset that football receives way more attention than korfball, then it makes sense to create another article about football, not to compensate here for disparities elsewhere. gidonb (talk) 14:41, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
