A tag has been placed on Bethel Lutheran Church (Manassas, VA) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 00:33, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bethel Lutheran in Manassas[edit]

Jehochman is kinda busy sometimes and messages on his page get lost. Add the post to WP:ANI (tell them I said to) and request that the Bethel Lutheran Church (Manassas, VA) be restored to your userspace. They will probably link it to User:K1goalie/Bethel Lutheran Church (Manassas, VA) (S.O.P.), from there, let me know where the church is in Manassas (I am near Winchester, VA) and I will do my best to work with you on the page. The page will need an infobox, some references, maybe a picture or two. If you have a camera, taking a picture of the church and releasing the picture to Wikipedia (which you can do by the Upload File link at the lefthand side) will be your best bet. All of this will give the page notability, which is big on keeping a page on Wikipedia. If it is on the National Registry of Historical Places, that will also add to the notability of the church. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. - NeutralHomerTalk • 23:10, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hold the ANI post, I am going to do you one better. Gimme a moment. - NeutralHomerTalk • 23:14, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to have an admin move it to your userspace. This will get the job done quicker than going to ANI. From there, I will help you work on it, if you like. I have to jump offline for a couple, but will be back tonight. Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk • 23:20, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Based on User:Neutralhomer's request, I've moved the article into your userspace, at User:K1goalie/Bethel Lutheran Church (Manassas, VA). Looking at some of the comments you've received thus far from other users, you've been given good advice about notability, copyright, and conflict of interest. Please keep those in mind as you work on further enhancing the article. Once you think it's ready to move back, I'd also suggest you look for a second and even third opinion from unrelated editors to make sure that you don't go through this all over again.
Two other comments. First, you'll note that I've left the conflict of interest template in place. I'd suggest that you leave it there until that independent review has taken place. Second, I've placed "nowiki" tags around the links to the categories. Please leave those in place as well, and make sure that any other categories you might add are placed between those tags. User pages generally shouldn't be included in categories, and those tags will make sure that's the case here. Good luck! Mlaffs (talk) 23:47, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the help! Appreciate any and all help with the article. K1goalie (talk) 01:09, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, was having dinner and chatting with my Mom...am back to help. I see Mlaffs has readded the article (Thanks Mlaffs!) and given you some more good advice. I will definitely help you with the article.
Questions for ya....(1) is the church on the National Registry of Historic Places? (2) is there pictures of the church available? (3) are there members of the church that have any objections to there being a Wikipedia page? - NeutralHomerTalk • 01:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Answers to the questions
1) The old building is not to my knowledge on a historic places list, but it may be on a local/state list. The current building is definitely not.
2) I can easily get pictures of the old and new buildings.
3) I did clear having a wiki page with the church leadership. K1goalie (talk) 02:25, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Did some editing on the page, added some references and the like. Since this is your church, you will probably have to find the history...but it must be able to be referenced by reliable online third-party sources. Let me know if you need help. - NeutralHomerTalk • 01:49, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Pictures would work on both buildings and see if you can't get some history on the old building. That would work too. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are some sites with information about the building, some of them are just news blurbs about its possible demolition a bunch of years back. I did find some history and picture links for the old building. I can get pictures of both this weekend (the old building pics I'll scan in) K1goalie (talk) 21:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have a history, the document that caused the copyright discussion. Trying to find a verifiable source. Question here, if the source is a reprint from an online source how do you deal with that? K1goalie (talk) 02:25, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You would need to find the original online source. But, let me see the source you have and we can go from there. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a link to the history on the church web page. Will ask the person that wrote it where they got the info for it. Church profile including history K1goalie (talk) 21:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A prior pastor at the church has an article published in a book that is a collection of works from multiple authors. Is that something that should be a link on the page? K1goalie (talk) 02:38, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it has anything to do with the church. This is specifically about the church itself. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Agree. K1goalie (talk) 21:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is a citation in a google book at this link [1] That speaks to the first baptisms for Bethel in Manassas. Are google book references OK? K1goalie (talk) 02:49, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is good. Google Books are references. Remember to cite the original author of the book, not just GoogleBooks. - NeutralHomerTalk • 03:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Will put the link on the page tonight or tomorrow. K1goalie (talk) 21:09, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Everything you have is good information. You are off to a great start. I will keep an eye on your progress and help out where needed, but I think you are doing just fine :) - NeutralHomerTalk • 22:46, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
