License tagging for Image:K2GXT 2M Repeater GE Mastr II.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:K2GXT 2M Repeater GE Mastr II.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest: K2GXT[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article K2GXT, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 11:41, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of K2GXT[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article K2GXT, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. • Gene93k (talk) 11:41, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Why delete K2GXT?[edit]

Please note that licensed broadcast radio stations are considered inherently notable. Amateur and low power radio stations need to prove notability per the Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) guideline. See the article for deletion discussion for M1IOS for an example. K2GXT fails to show interest from reliable sources independent of the school. Has a publication like QST written about the station? And again, K2GXT is obviously your club and your writing about it goes against Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline. • Gene93k (talk) 10:46, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reply to 98.216.211.208: There is an open discussion on K2GXT. It is better to discuss the issue there rather than correspond with me one-on-one. If the references are offline, cite the publication, issue, date, and page so they can be verified. As for writing about your own club, your "valid information" comes with an inherent bias and a risk of original research, both of which are against Wikipedia's core content policies. • Gene93k (talk) 12:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as in User talk:Gene93k, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. • Gene93k (talk) 12:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of K2GXT[edit]

I have nominated K2GXT, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/K2GXT. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? • Gene93k (talk) 11:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:QSL Card Old.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:QSL Card Old.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. Non-free logos are generally acceptable for use on Wikipedia but this does not appear to be a logo but rather a scan of a publication. Please update the fair use claim to something more appropriate.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:QSL Card Old.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. K2GXT AFD discussion[edit]

Thanks for participating Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/K2GXT. You mentioned that you are new and were looking for help with the process. 2 good places to start are:

When participating in these discussions keep in mind that it's the responsibility of the editor who adds the content to an article to properly source it. Technically, anything that's not properly sourced can be immediately removed by any editor, especially for biographical information or anything involving a living person. Most editors don't go to that extreme though.

It's fine to mention things like "it could be sourced" but unless another editor agrees and jumps in to help you find sources and improve the article with those sources, it really doesn't make the case for notability.

Blogs and other self published sources are not strictly forbidden as references but better quality references should be obtainable for topics that are truly notable.

If you've got questions, dont hesitate to post them here. I'm no expert but I can hopefully point you to the right place.--Rtphokie (talk) 12:08, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:K2GXT 2M Repeater.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:K2GXT 2M Repeater.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:K2GXT 2M Repeater.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. KB1LQC (talk) 15:18, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:K2GXT Logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:K2GXT Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Electronics collaboration[edit]

Hi, I am writing to you because you have listed yourself as a member of the Electronics WikiProject. Sadly, this project is pretty dead, but I propose to resuscitate it with a collaboration. The idea is to have a concerted effort on improving one article per month, hopefully to GA or FA status and nominate the very best of them for the front page. I have prepared a page to control this process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Collaboration (actually, I mostly shamelessly stole it from Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals where a collaboration of this sort was succesfully run). There you can make nominations for articles for collaboration or comment on the nominations of others.

If you want to take part you might like to place this template {{WikiProject Electronics Collaboration}} on your userpage which will give you a link to the current collaboration. If you are no longer interested in Wikiproject Electronics, please remove yourself from the members list, which is now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Members

Thanks for listening, SpinningSpark 17:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback[edit]

Hello, KB1LQC. You have new messages at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Amateur radio.
Message added 22:52, 3 August 2012 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I don't want to spam you, but I think this is important, and would like to know your opinion. WingtipvorteX PTT 22:52, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to get WikiProject Amateur Radio back on the air![edit]

Hi, I'm Dr vulpes (💬📝) and I'm currently doing my best to resurrect the amateur radio WikiProject. A lot of the articles need some serious work and so I'm trying to organize an article improvement drive in October. If you're interested check out the link to the drive and the project page. Right now everything is in the planning stages, trying to find people interested, articles to focus on, etc. So if you know anyone who would like to help out feel free to invite them! If you no longer interested in this project that's a-ok just remove yourself from the list on the project page and I'll never badger you again. 73! Dr vulpes (💬📝) 00:22, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
