Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created User:Kadimaventures/Kadima.Ventures, and I noticed that your username, "Kadimaventures", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 00:40, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Kadimaventures/Kadima.Ventures, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. June 2016[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. WaggersTALK 09:33, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I just signed up and you people are attacking me and blocking me in under 24 hours?! I already put in a request to change the username, and you people block my account before the request even goes through...

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:27, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I regret that you have been given offense but the rest of us aren't alerted when you request a username change by using the global rename form. Names that clearly violate the username policy are usually blocked, especially if they make what seems to be edits about their own organization that seem promotional. I don't see anyone "attacking" you. 331dot (talk) 11:48, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kadimaventures. 331dot is right when he mentioned that administrators are not alerted when you file a request using the global rename form; don't be offended if they block you though. However, I can't rename you just yet because you're currently blocked for more than just your username; you have been blocked for what others perceive as promotional editing. Please, file another unblock request and take good care to address the reasons for your block, and reassure others that your promotional editing will not happen again. (You can read our guide to appealing blocks for help) You can also request your new username here on this talk page and once the block has been lifted, I or any other global renamer can rename you. Feel free to ask us any questions you may have. Thanks, —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 14:31, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I wasn't trying to do "promotional editing", I'm just figuring out wikipedia syntax and how to create a page. I never wanted the page that I was working on to be public or viewed by anyone yet. We don't want to promote stuff, we want to document facts and history. How do I request the username change in this page? Just ask?

Instructions on how to request a change are given above in the block notice(immediately below "June 2016"). You should also review conflict of interest; generally you should not directly edit in areas you are associated with.
If you just want to work on drafting a page, you can do so through Articles for Creation which will also allow for outside review before posting, to mitigate any conflict of interest issues. You will be expected to demonstrate how your business meets the business notability guidelines with independent reliable sources. Keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a business directory, and as such not every business merits a page here. 331dot (talk) 22:21, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
