A tag has been placed on Sanjay Jain requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -Porchcrop (talk|contributions) 03:50, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kaniket[edit]

There has been a Sockpuppet investigations initiated because of an entry I created two years ago. I am Kumar Aniket, (thus username kaniket) an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Cambridge. Two years ago when I started experimenting on Wikipedia, I created the research profile of some people who have made significant contribution to the literature on Development Economics. My presumption was that experts in the field should have their work accessible to the public. All the articles I have created more than satisfy the Notability for Academics test or the so called `professor test'. The people who suggested deletion of some of the articles are not applying the Notability for Academics criterion properly.

0n 17th October 2011, I was referred for a sockpuppet investigation for my contribution to the page of Maitreesh Ghatak. Maitreesh Ghatak is an eminent Professor in Economics at the London School of Economics. He obtained his Phd from Harvard University and worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago for six years before being tenured at the London School of Economics. He has made significant contribution to the literature on Economic Development and is considered a leading thinker in the field. His publication record more than justifies this assertion. Having said that I did not make an subjective statements when I created the page. My entry was absolutely factual, with nothing on Maitreesh Ghatak's page that cannot be personally verified.

I am extremely disappointed that Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kaniket has been initiated on my account. Everything that I have done has been above board. I am extremely disappointed that this investigation has been initiated without any basis. I would be grateful if this could be resolved at the earliest. I am happy to be contacted for this purpose on my official University of Cambridge email address (the address in my preferences) if need be. kaniket (talk) 21:27, 17 February 2011 (UTC) kaniket[reply]
