Can you provide guidance on my article edit before going live please? I have followed guidelines and policies in it's creation but would like to be sure before completing it. I have saved it in my sandbox page. Many thanks (Karmul (talk) 08:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

  • Hey there! Before considering moving the article to the mainspace, there are a few issues that need to be addressed. At this point, if the article were moved to the mainspace, it would most likely be deleted in accordance with the A7 criteria for speedy deletion, which encompasses a requirement to indicate how or why the subject is important and/or significant. What is significant about this organization? What sets the subject apart from other organizations in the same industry? Beyond that, all articles about organizations must establish notability through significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. None of the sources provided meet the threshold for significance, reliability, and independence. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 14:07, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your guidance, it was very helpful. I have reviewed the page and included significance, notability and third party references. Would you kindly have another look on my sandbox page to check whether the page could now be edited on wikipedia? Thank you. (Karmul (talk) 15:38, 11 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Hi, I did a little "wikify" on the article. Please check reference #5, the claim is not in that link you added as reference. I did not check the other references! For further improvements, check Template:Cite Web out and add it to your references. mabdul 12:43, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

{subst:{help me-mq}} Thanks for pointing this out. I will double-check for all the references however the claim for #5 is supported by the attached doc in that NAMA use the IPD indices to benchmark the performance of their funds in property investment in Ireland thereby affecting their accountability to shareholders. If you feel this is not a strong enough reference I am happy to change it though. Many thanks. (Karmul (talk) 13:28, 12 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Reference #5 is not the NAMA document. it is the "generic" URL. mabdul 13:55, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, that's correctly referenced now. Do you think it's okay to put on to the mainspace now? (Karmul (talk) 16:02, 13 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Your contributions so far have all been to that article, about Investment Property Databank.
In light of our policy regrding single-purpose accounts, and concerns regarding conflict of interest, I want to ask: do you intend to edit any other articles?
Note, this isn't a direct response to your query; it's just a question.  Chzz  ►  23:30, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, IPD/Investment Property Databank is mentioned a number of times on the Property derivatives page; IPD is also mentioned in both the annual reports of British Land and Land Securities both of which are posted in the articles. With this in mind there would be intention to edit these pages if incorrect/inaccurate information is posted on the aforementioned articles (or similar). Other pages IPD/Investment Property Databank is mentioned on are: The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade (Export) (2005), The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade (Export) (2010),and OSCRE Hope this answers your question. Thanks (Karmul (talk) 11:19, 18 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]
It seems your edits are solely about the IPD. If you work for them, please read WP:COI. If you are correcting errors and adding factual sourced information, that's brilliant, thank you very much for taking the time to provide information in this specialist area. Be careful though that you remember to edit neutrally, don't be tempted to polish up the firm's reputation. Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:49, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your guidance. I have read the policies you've recommended. The intention of my query is to correct previous errors from someone that ended in the page being deleted and add factual sourced information only. As a first time editor I want this to be done correctly and it not to end in the page being deleted hence seeking help and guidance (currently when IPD is searched for on wikipedia there is no information available aside from a notifcation that the page has been deleted). It is not intended to use wikipedia as a promotional channel for IPD. Would you kindly let me know if the article in my sandbox can be used as an edit to the IPD (Investment Product Databank) or would it be deleted if it was transferred to the mainspace as it is? Thanks again for your assistance. (Karmul (talk) 09:06, 21 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

OK, I don't think source 1 is a good source for that sentence. You would do better to use a citation template and cite both of the first two sentences to page 42 in source 2. In general, it is not good practice to cite to a 70-odd page document. You need to cite the pages that are relevant. The citation templates will also allow you to create properly formatted references - they need to have the title and authors of the document, the date of publication etc, not just say Foo University. You can use the company website for information about what it does, and back that up with citations like 1 and 5, noting in the citation that this shows actual use.Elen of the Roads (talk) 12:23, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much I have changed the references to citations where appropriate. This look okay to go now? Thank you. (Karmul (talk) 11:08, 24 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

I fixed a wikilink. Other than that, I think it's OK. You don't need to keep using the help me template. If you want to talk to me, just put a message on my talkpage. Elen of the Roads (talk) 11:43, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
