Hello, Katiechainsaw

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username GMH Melbourne, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Jennifer “JJ” Leigh, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|GMH Melbourne}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Deletion discussion about Jennifer “JJ” Leigh

[edit]

Hello, Katiechainsaw, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username GMH Melbourne, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Jennifer “JJ” Leigh, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jennifer “JJ” Leigh.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|GMH Melbourne}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello Katiechainsaw. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to The Devotchkas, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Katiechainsaw. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Katiechainsaw|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 15:00, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Katiechainsaw, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Katiechainsaw|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 15:31, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You still have not adequately responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying, you may be blocked from editing. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 15:35, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I have literally no idea how this works was trying to edit my bands page which should absolutely be fine to be on Wikipedia Katiechainsaw (talk) 21:40, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not paid I’m the singer of the band lol Katiechainsaw (talk) 21:40, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not paid just updating my bands info which was already on here

[edit]

I’m extremely confused by all this and why so aggressive-BANNED? - I just am trying to update my band’s information, not being paid for it Katiechainsaw (talk) 21:43, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Katiechainsaw: As you have a conflict of interest you'll need to add this to your user page prior to make any further edits:
{{UserboxCOI|1=The Devotchkas|2=Jennifer “JJ” Leigh}}
––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 23:33, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I pasted that into my user page. I don’t know who initially added us to Wikipedia - this was here when I got there/started trying to update it. Still confused but hopefully I’m doing this correctly? Katiechainsaw (talk) 01:24, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. You can now edit the articles with that disclosure now available. There is a deletion discussion currently taking place for both those article to establish whether or not those article meet the notability criteria for a wikipedia article. Feel free to improve the pages in the meantime to improve the chance of keeping those pages. Please also take a look at WP:GNG for the sources we look for in discerning notability. ––– GMH MELBOURNE TALK 01:36, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’m sorry I’m out of the loop with all this - thank you for your help though, hopefully I’m doing things properly now ! Katiechainsaw (talk) 02:05, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
