Kunsang Choling Nunnery is a small institution for nous, located at Kapan, at a short distance around 2 K.M. from Boudhanath Stupa is Kathmandu, Nepal. This Buddhist Monastery and Nunnery was established in the year 1995 A.D. with only five nuns, by Lama Gondup. Today the enrollment rose up the fifty heads and the number is in ascending condition. Most of the nuns at Kunsang Choling Nunnery belong to the mountainous regions at the border area of India, Nepali and Tibet In these areas there are no means available to educate children owing to severe & harsh environment and inaccessibility. The nuns consist of different age groups.

Kunsang Choling Nunnery is to facilitate only the girl-child with the different aspects of knowledge in Tibetan Buddhism, like reading, writing, grammar, poetry, rituals and performing arts, philosophy, meditation etc. Beside this, classes on English language and simple mathematics are held to enable the nun to understand daily chores. The nunnery aims to provide the girls an equal opportunity as the boys in this field too, so that they are also able to explore the infinite knowledge, wisdom and spiritual power.
