List of airports[edit]

I'm surprised Tipella has an airport; it's on a mountainside but on the other hand it's also subdivided so maybe there's level land; I know there's a strip at Port Douglas and maybe on airmaps that's labelled Tipella (I have them on my system and will look; if you like I'll send you the map, or give you weblinks to them - just search "photos by Kat" in google); Tipella City, British Columbia may already be an article, I don't know; it should already be on the ghost towns list.Skookum1 08:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. I've used that kat cam site for other stuff before, never thought of it for this. Ya, it's probably associated with Pt.Douglas--Keefer4 08:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not on the airmap, but it's beacon is. I had a look at Basemap and if you search for 49 45 23 N 122 11 2 W in "Find Location" by Latlong and then resize it to 1:34,000, you'll be able to see the names Tipella and Port Douglas; Port Douglas to the top of Little Harrison Lake, at the top of the map, Tipella down by the corner of Harrison Lake at the bottom, with the flat delta area of the Lillooet River below it, where the airstrip is. It'll be interesting to have a look at the old Tipella City townsite survey and see if it includes flatland; I had no idea it did. This was touted, like all realty prospects in BC, as the hottest thing on the market and destined to be the site of a great city; no doubt in time it may be, sometime before the sea level rises (Harrison Lake's only about 5m above sea level). Today's Port Douglas, the rancherie known as Xa'xtsa, is on the north shore of Little Harrison Lake; old Port Douglas off to the left side of the rectangle of the lake; this was perceived as a better harbour despite the steep hill up out of it, I suppose because of the siltation and current and sand shoals of the Lillooet delta; which you wouldn't want to have a town on during flood season, dat's fer shur. Anyway, I'll look over the rest of the list.Skookum1 09:00, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, they're all legit, though some like Tipella aren't in local landlubber usage no doubt; remote locations for mining, fishery, logging, IRs etc. although some town/locality articles aren't written, and may have no reason to be. I'd say put "reqmapin" all of them for sure, plus reqphoto in for the major ones, and/or the scenic ones (Tsuniah, Fraser Canyon)....Skookum1 09:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
