Hi Keith. Please could you kindly help with some unorthodox edits on the above article. This is about a village which I know very well. An editor who has apparently edited nothing else but the article on this village and its rail station, appears to be attempting an edit war with me. Please also see the notes I have written on Talk:Pannal. The villagers and local authorities know nothing about the uncited things that this editor is saying, and history books do not support it. Thank you. --Storye book (talk) 14:19, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

I have reverted their changes and invited them to discuss changes on the article talk page. Cannot really help with the actual details as I have no personal knowledge of the place. Keith D (talk) 19:12, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you very much, Keith, for your kind assistance - much appreciated.--Storye book (talk) 09:08, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Al Ghurabaa article blanking

Hi, this guy: MamedG has blanked almost all the Al Ghurabaa article (see the article's revision history) removing all the information and the sources attached to it. Blatant vandalism that I hope you could resolve and give him a warning. Regards,--HCPUNXKID 18:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for note, I have reverted to last good version and given them a first warning. Keith D (talk) 18:57, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Keith, just noted an editor has uploaded a non free image for the new West Yorkshire Joint Authority. However the spelling for Yorkshire needs correcting:- File:West Yourshire Combined Authority logo.png. Richard Harvey (talk) 20:37, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I have renamed the file & changed the article. Keith D (talk) 20:45, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Haemophilia references

Hi Keith, I'm not sure if the references from my last edit on haemophilia complications were done correctly, and how to correct them. Your guidance is much appreciated! Thanks. Devanshuv (talk) 12:38, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I have fixed them for you. You had missed the http:// off the front of the URLs, also |coauthors= is deprecated so I have split it out. Keith D (talk) 12:52, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Keith! I'll bear those in mind for my future references. Devanshuv (talk) 16:12, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust

Hi Keith, I want to add some information to Wikipedia about the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust, as it appears to be commonly known. As you are an admin who contributes articles on Yorkshire perhaps you can help me sort out a couple of problems. It has two entries, one being Sheffield_Wildlife_Trust which is linked from The_Wildlife_Trusts. The other entry is under the heading Wildlife_Trust_for_Sheffield_and_Rotherham which redirects from Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust. The Trust is known as Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust as can be seen at their web page http://www.wildsheffield.com/ , although the charity is registered as Sheffield_Wildlife_Trust, as can be seen at the above URL. My own understanding of the guidelines at WP:COMMONNAME is the common name Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust should be the name of the wiki entry. I am not sure what effect changing the title of the entry will have, especially as a redirect is in place. As the page [Sheffield_Wildlife_Trust]] is about the same organization should this be page deleted? Both articles are stubs so nothing would be lost by deleting the Sheffield_Wildlife_Trust entry. A proposal to merge the two articles would be OTT, but if that is the correct procedure then I am happy to go along with it. One final comment; user 78.33.187.2 , who claims to be the Communications Officer from the Wildlife Trust for Sheffield and Rotherham is quite emphatic that the organization prefers not to be called the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust. That is not bourne out by their http://www.wildsheffield.com/ web page. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Waugh Bacon (talk) 11:18, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi, have had a quick look at the situation and I think that Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust is probably the one that needs to be the name for the article. The Sheffield Wildlife Trust is really a duplicate and suggest that it be turned into a redirect to the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust article, it was a redirect to The Wildlife Trusts until September 2011. Would be good to add an appropriate South Yorkshire category to the page so that people can find it. Keith D (talk) 11:40, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Keith, following your edit of the above, I wondered if you might have a view you could contribute to this discussion, out of which Trecastell is being used as a "model"? Thanks. GnGn (talk) 04:52, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi there - just wanted to thank you for reviewing Wakefield City Police and will look to update the lead of the article soon. Look forward to contributing more - thanks once again. BNC85 (talk) 18:25, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Would you be willing to take a look at what is going on at the Ritchie Blackmore article. I noticed an editor changed the description from British to English several days ago (and removed a nonsense message stating that because his father is Welsh he cannot be described as being English - despite quotes from the man himself describing himself as English), and that edit was quickly reverted. I then re-instated the edit and added several references with said quotes. However, Edvpj continues to revert the edits (and providing references that aren't relevant to what they were re-instating). How strange that someone would be so active in stopping an Englishman (self described no less) being described as English!

Thanks I have dropped a note on the talk page over this - please detail your arguments there for others to evaluate. Keith D (talk) 11:18, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Cheers. Will comment on the talk page shortly - a previous discussion there yielded several references that confirmed Blackmore self identifies as English.

Hi there, noticed that you assessed the most recent page I have created as "stub-class" but it hasn't been rated on "Importance" yet. Could you possibly rate it yourself? If not what is the etiquette on editors rating their own articles. I've contributed a fair amount to Wikipedia over the years, especially Warwickshire related articles so I think I'll be reasonably neutral. Thanks. Cls14 (talk) 22:25, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

I though that I have given it a start-class rating, must have hit the wrong button, I have upgraded it. I left the importance rating out as was unsure of the scale used by the project as this tends to vary from project to project. I would have probably have rated it mid or high as grade I listed but feel free to rate it yourself. Keith D (talk) 22:33, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
When you looked at it earlier it would have been stub class. Just done a bit of work on it over the past 90 minutes or so. Very much a work in progress. Thanks for the advise. Cls14 (talk) 22:42, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

I'm new at this: I went to the page derwent Ings, wondering what an "Ing" is. Seems it's Anglo-Saxon for a meadow or low pasture. http://www.takeourword.com/TOW203/page2.html I welcome any suggestions for contributing. Mathyeti (talk) 22:02, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I moved your comment to here where it should have been placed. You would have to look for a more reliable source for this rather than a self published website, may be a book. You can then add something to the article quoting the source as a reference for the fact. May be if you cannot locate anything you could put the detail on the article's talk page and ask if anyone has a more reliable source to offer for it. Keith D (talk) 00:25, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Removing <small> tags from captions

Can you give a pointer to the discussion where this was agreed? Or, some explanation? Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:41, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

The removal of <small> on captions in general has been implemented in WP:AWB unsure where that discussion took place. The discussion on the removal from the template {{Infobox UK place}} took place on its talk page. Interesting that you have only just picked up on it as I am very close to the end of the run with only about 600 to go. Keith D (talk) 11:48, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
I picked up on it some time ago - I'm not necessarily opposed, just curious as to where the decision was made, and why. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:30, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
The main reason is accessibility as the way it is at the moment it falls below the acceptable size for the text. From the discussion I am unsure if the template will be change to incorporate the <small> tags or to go with the normal size text. Though from what I have seen it is not just a straightforward job as there are several where the caption has been placed in with the file name and some where multiple images have been shoehorned into a single field. Edward McMillan-Scott

You appear to have recently been involved in a content dispute on Edward McMillan-Scott. You have described the edits by an IP address as "vandalism", and subsequently semi-protected the article. Firstly, the term vandalism should only be used to describe blatant damage to the encyclopedia, not content disputes, and you should not use your admin tools to protect articles where you are already involved in a content dispute. You may wish to reverse your actions accordingly. Secondly, I have been contacted by the IP editor concerned and have advised them to raise the matter on the talk page. Please work collaboratively with them there to address their BLP concerns, and reach a consensus on how to proceed. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:54, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

I have put a note about the changing of quotations on the talk page. Keith D (talk) 16:11, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you; that's basically what I said to the IP editor, off-wiki. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:51, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Gypsies Green

Hi and good day to you... Just wondering if you can help. I have a hobby called geocaching and would like to place one in gypsies green. I have information regarding the land registry but what intrigues me is the history of the name. Hello! Yet again, within days of the semi-protection’s expiry an IP has recommenced the not-an-English-name campaign without providing any references. Please have a look and, if you think it appropriate, renew the protection. Thanks for your attention.—Odysseus1479 23:23, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I have restored the protection. I thought that the last one of 3 months would have been sufficient time for them to forget about it. Keith D (talk) 23:48, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
The IP has actually posted to my Talk page this time, so I have a glimmer of hope that some sort of compromise can be reached. The protection won’t prevent IPs from commenting on the article’s Talk page, will it?—Odysseus1479 00:11, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
No the talk page is unprotected so IPs are free to comment there or make an edit request. Keith D (talk) 00:16, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
