Username concerns

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Abt Electronics and Appliances, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because It is the name of a business that you are editing the article about. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 18:04, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My username, Abt Electronics and Appliances, is my business' name and will only be used to convey facts about Abt Electronics. The name will not be used to promote the business in any way.Abt Electronics and Appliances (talk) 18:27, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please review the username policy again, specifically this passage: "Explicit use of a name or url of a company, group or product as a username is not permitted. Your username should represent you. Accounts that represent an entire group or company are not permitted." Given that, you will need to change your username; please review the instructions at WP:Changing username. —C.Fred (talk) 21:11, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Write in prose, not bullet points

[edit]

Remember that Wikipedia articles should be articles of flowing prose when at all possible. The history section of Abt Electronics is a prime example. Do not rework this into bullet points; leave it as paragraphs of text. Do feel free to expand, but make sure the expansion is in paragraph form. —C.Fred (talk) 16:16, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the history of Abt is adequately covered in prose, I don't see where a timeline in bullet points adds to the article. For Best Buy, because so many events happen in separate years, there are benefits to the timeline there. However, I don't see where there are enough relevant events to add one. If you like, draft one up at User:Kelly Brummett/Abt timeline, so I can see what all you're thinking needs to go on there. —C.Fred (talk) 22:36, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
