About talk pages[edit]

Refactoring someone else's comments, and you did at Talk:Kent Hovind is discouraged in most cases. Talk pages are for discussing ideas for article improvement, so fixes are generally not needed, but there is a list of reasons at WP:TPO. Fixing a typo in a six-month-old comment adds nothing to the discussion, and has the potential to make another editor's comment more confusing. For example, when you changed diesdoes, what would happen if some editor had commented, "I'll assume you meant does..."? Now the context for that comment is lost. It is possible to make the discussions less intelligible through little fixes. If you feel that an idea was lost because of the typo, add a new line to the thread saying that you think the other editor meant and possibly unmentioned merits.
