Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Kenguest! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 06:29, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome. Great job on Cloughjordan! You've already mastered image uploads and such. I'm so proud to have been the one who got to welcome you. ;-) Cheers. Ryan 15:01, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

'lo there! Great work on Cloughjordan. Don't know if you've found it by now, but Wikipedia:Irish Wikipedians' notice board is handy.

No problem. I actually did very little, really. You seem to really know what you're doing now. Keep up the good work. -R. fiend 12:05, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006[edit]

Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 04:13, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Chaim Herzog[edit]

I see you added Wesley College. Should we add Zion National School? --ClemMcGann 10:00, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. Unfortunately, I don't think that I could do that. I would have to delete the entire article, history and all, to get rid of the vandalism now stored in the page history. You'll need to ask a Wikipedia bureaucrat to delete specific parts of a history. There are lots of pages with worse vandalism than that stored in their histories, though. That you've tagged it as vandalism when you reverted it is a good enough warning to people, IMO. Thanks for your concern, Fire Star 01:14, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You tagged The Adventures of Captain Underpants as {{nonsense}}. This is in fact the first of a real series of published children's books, as the links and discussion page made fairly clear i would have thought. I have clarifeids this in the lead, and removed the speedy tag. DES (talk) 02:25, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies; it wasn't identified as being an article or synopsis on something real so I mistook it for being some story that had been mistakenly published on Wikipedia. I'm glad to see that it is marked as such now. Kenguest 12:25, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Untagged image[edit]

An image you uploaded, Image:Wesley college crest.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 14:50, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on LUGs in Ireland, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 220.227.179.4 07:53, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Ireland Wikimedia email list[edit]

Hi Ken!

I'm delighted to announce that we've started a new Ireland Wikimedian email list, that you can join, at mail:WikimediaIE. For Wikimedians in Ireland and Wikimedians interested in events in Ireland and efforts in Ireland. It's there to to discuss meetups, partnerships with Museums and National Archives, and anything else where Wikipedia and real life intersect. Bastique demandez 23:51, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Leroy Jethro Gibbs, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Leroy Jethro Gibbs (3rd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 05:11, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
