Speedy deletion of Golf Augusta[edit]

A tag has been placed on Golf Augusta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -IcĕwedgЁ (ťalķ) 04:29, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Store locations[edit]

Do you have any reliable sources to back up your information? I happen to know, for instance, that there was once a Woolco at the Courtland Center mall in Flint, but outside of my mom's personal recollections of that store, I have nothing to verify that there was ever a Woolco there. The main reason that I have been removing the store listings is because they are almost entirely unsourced (see reliable sources), and most of them bordered on original research (e.g. "Oh, I remember that there was once an Ames here in my town, I think it might be a Kmart now). I have seen other store lists shot down on pages such as Dillard's and Lord & Taylor for the same reason. Finally, said lists can get to be very long, and the last thing we want is a page so long that it might crash a browser. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(ChirpsClamsChowder) 16:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reliable sources--and many devoted fans of these stores to prove that they did exist. Maybe even pictures.

Kennedy & Co., 8:30 PM, July 18, 2008

Pictures and fans of stores can help. However, store locations have been determined by most other editors to be indiscriminate information (Wikipedia is not a directory). It might be historic information for a chain like Woolco or something, but it's still indiscriminate and often very far from complete. Also, please don't forget to sign your posts by using four tildes. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(ChirpsClamsChowder) 00:34, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Rather than creating many stubs, which may be deleted for lack of notability, why not concentrate on just one article and build it up with appropriate references? WWGB (talk) 03:39, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Golf Augusta[edit]

A tag has been placed on Golf Augusta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Request reason:

This is a school IP address. It is mainly the 5th graders who vandalize the site.

Decline reason:

School's out for summer. Your IP address is irrelevant. Please read WP:CORP to help you understand why you are blocked right now. — Risker (talk) 05:21, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The vandalism came from this account, not from an IP. Furthermore, this unblock request comes just four minutes after the last vandalism edit. I'm tempted to decline your unblock request myself, but technically an admin needs to review it. -- Ned Scott 05:12, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Malt Star Beers[edit]

A tag has been placed on Malt Star Beers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Seascic T/C 20:50, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed on various talk pages (including this very page) that your signature includes no links whatsoever. That is a violation of the Wikipedia guideline on signatures and it makes life harder for other editors. (and could cause more serious problems if, for example, you were confused with another editor) Per the guideline just mentioned your signature must include at least a link to your user page or user talk page. Please see WP:SIGHELP for help fixing your signature or let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! --Jeremyb (talk) 21:10, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Malt Star Beers[edit]

I have nominated Malt Star Beers, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Malt Star Beers. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? ukexpat (talk) 22:11, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for failing to read and/or understand WP:CORP, despite many warnings and notices. Wikipedia is not a directory of every company that ever existed. Simply because "everyone has heard of it" does not assert notability as defined here on Wikipedia. Also, blanking my talk page just because you disagree with me wasn't constructive to Wikipedia.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Tan ǀ 39 13:31, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
