span formatting[edit]

Is there a reason you removed the quotes from the spans in this edit? 01:47, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

@Walter Görlitz: Two reasons: (1) it's cleaner visually when using the editor, and saves bytes on the overall page size, (2) the table appears to be the same without the quotes as it does with them, I assumed that the quotes were a deprecated item that were left over from the earlier days of Wikipedia (kind of reminiscent of tables that looked like this. 21.colinthompson (talk) 02:10, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's incorrect though according to W3C guidelines. Most modern browsers deal with them correctly, but we shouldn't force them to. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:01, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of Canada women's international soccer players[edit]

Hi. Thanks for expanding List of Canada women's international soccer players, I was about to do that today after I expanded their head to head records yesterday! Are you thinking of completing the rest? I have a couple other projects I'm doing, but if not I will find the time. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:45, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Vaselineeeeeeee: Yeah, it might take me a day or two but I plan on finishing out the list! I might also spin off a separate article for players with 1–9 caps, there's about as many of them as there are players with 10 or more. 21.colinthompson (talk) 00:19, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Regarding 1–9 caps in a separate article, I know the England national team does that, but I've had a recent discussion with a user when we were cleaning up the Italy player list, and decided that splitting the article into number of caps would make it more difficult for the editor to update caps, and the reader to find various players, so we left it in one article. Especially with the Canada women's, there isn't an overwhelming number of players, so I think that working on it in your sandbox as you find time is good, but I don't think we need a second article here. Opening ceremony of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, Parc de Princes, Paris, June 7, 2019

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going.

WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST!

WikiProject Women in Red is focusing on Women in Sports during their edit-a-thon for July & August 2019.

Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126

Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Be sure to tag your article talk pages with {{WIR-126}}.

These edit-a-thons are a great way to work with others to help bridge the gender gaps on Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Barnstar of Diligence
Thanks so much for all the work you have put into the Crew page, and for keeping up my Player Records section! I created it a few years back and quickly fell behind on it, so I'm glad to see somebody has kept it going. Do you have a spreadsheet you're using for it? I know the assists can be more of a pain to track especially with players who have played for a while with the Crew like Waylon.

Again, thanks for all you have been doing for the Crew and for Cleveland SC too! Rhysapgruffydd (talk) 14:25, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Georgia Storm FC[edit]

Hi, Keskkonnakaitse, I found you from your edit on Hunter Jumper and saw you focus on an NPSL team. I have been fighting and clawing to first get Georgia Storm FC approved which I finally got only for it to be tagged for potential deletion today. I thought you might be able to give some advice or guidance to keep the article approved. Every reviewer tags the player notability guidelines but ignores the club notability guidelines. Georgia Storm participated in a US Open Cup which meets club notability. Any thoughts or help would be great. Kevinw33 (talk) 13:05, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Kevinw33 I took a look through the article and cleaned a bunch of stuff up, and most notably removed the notability tag at the top. There's still some stuff that could be messed with, but at the least there shouldn't be any problems with deletion (and if there are, I'll be right back around to defend this article!) I hope you stick around and keep this article going, it's already one of the better ones in the NPSL. (Also, I looked at the Storm Chasers Instagram...I'm assuming that's y'all creating the page!? From the 6th City Syndicate down to Georgia, good luck into the future, at last unless we ever meet in the playoffs!) Keskkonnakaitse (talk) 20:11, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Keskkonnakaitse Thanks a ton for the help! Yes, I started the Storm Chasers for our first season this past spring\summer. It has been quite the challenge to get everything rolling down here in rural Georgia but it has been a blast. Kevinw33 (talk) 12:55, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A goat for you![edit]

Thanks for your recent thoughtful additions to AfD discussions I created! I really appreciate you not taking it personally that I've maybe nominated a few things that you have a connection with.

At least the record of your shutout at the Invaders Soccer Complex lives on in our hearts.

Your GA nomination of Steve Palacios[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Steve Palacios you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Since you've probably stopped checking the review page, and weren't pinged when the review was finally posted on April 10, I thought I'd let you know that you can now begin to address the issues the reviewer raised. Thank you for your patience! BlueMoonset (talk) 15:49, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AFC Helper News[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Steve Palacios[edit]

On 28 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Steve Palacios, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after his soccer career, Steve Palacios enlisted in the United States Army and played for the United States Armed Forces soccer team? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Steve Palacios. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Steve Palacios), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
