Notification of automated file description generation

Your upload of File:CBOB clip.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! DNA Polymerase

KevM: You wrote on the DNA Polymerase page that "This pairing always occurs in specific combinations, with cytosine and guanine always forming a pair and guanine and adenine always forming a pair." I'm almost certain you meant that cytosine pairs guanine and thymine pairs with adenine. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_pair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.7.68.96 (talk) 21:10, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game

Hi, I made an edit on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game page. This was just to divert confusion from readers as your 'Spider-Carnage Suit' edit was placed at the bottom of the list of "The 12 suits that were announced in the Developers walkthrough video", and I felt it necessary to move this as a stand-alone statement in order to keep it on the wiki page, as this is quite interesting even without any concrete factual evidence. Hope this give you clarity in my actions, and feel free to elaborate on my edit if you have any further information regarding the 'Spider-Carnage Suit'. Kind regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.199.55.172 (talk) 18:35, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

My last edit

Hi Kev,

Sorry for my experiment. I want to know how you got to know about this change so quickly. People say that wiki resource are doubtful because anyone can edit it. YOUR REJECTION OF MY INPUT

I MAY HAVE NOT TYPED THE CORRECTION CORRECTLY BUT YOU ARE TRYING TO CHANGE THE FACTS. THIS WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT SINGLE EVENT IN THE MSDOS HISTORY. WE HAD PLANNED THIS WHEN WE STARTED OUR USE OF MSDOS WE WERE FORCED TO WRITE THE SOFTWARE BECAUSE MICROSOFT WAS NOT READY TO SUPPORT OUR PRODUCT BUT THEY USED OUR SOFTWARE AFTER WE SUPPLIED. THERE IS A LIE IN THE WRITE UP OF THE NEW IBM PC IN 1983 THAT SAYS THE PC HAD THE FIRST HARD DRIVE SYSTEM. THE COMPUTER THEY DESCRIBED WAS DESIGNED TO RESPOND TO OUR COMPUTER THAT WAS SELLING VERY WELL WITH HARD DRIVES AND THE NEW DOS SOFTWARE. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU WANT TO HIDE HISTORY. INSTEAD HELP ME WRITE THE ENTRY SO THAT IT IS ACCEPTABLE THE FACTS ARE CORRECT. Anyways, MMO indeed stands for "Massively Multiplayer Online", per this, this, and this. It's just the way it is. Ballyclare High School

Hi friend, I noticed your good faith reversion of an edit made to the Ballyclare High School article. I believe the man in question is this John Dundee, a noted anesthetist and medical researcher. What's not constructive?

Maybe you should do some research into the privatisation of Regents College and learn the real motives behind it. Call the people at USNY up and see how many contradictory answers you get. What they really didn't want is their holy, holy, holy, academic research to be besmeerched by the fact that commoners were running around with diplomas carrying the name of the same institution within which they were working. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.214.220.236 (talk) 15:48, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Ireland postcodes

Your request for rollback

Hi KevM. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — MusikAnimal talk 17:25, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

I feel the two changes I made were correct in respect to the objectives of Wikipedia:

The rank in division number for Fleetwood town is wrong (listed as 4, should be 24).

The notes added are identical to previous notes on the same table.

In this case I believe the edit I made was viable. If you have qualms then you may want to correct the rest of the table.

Regards

C.

Perhaps, but your edits claimed that two different stadiums were the "smallest in League One". They can't both be the smallest! Kev (talk) 14:58, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

I did check that, there is no other one listed in the notes as that. I hate to be pedantic but I still can't see your reasoning. Regards, C. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AdmirableCrighton (talkcontribs) 13:43, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Rollback usage

Hello! Remember that rollback shouldn't be used in situations like this. I'm assuming that was just an honest mistake, seeing how your other two reverts were done properly. Let me know if you have any questions, m.o.p 18:53, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Deleted comment about Tony Bliar and 'Save' the Children

Having sexed-up the case for war, Tory Blair helped start a conflict that led to tens of thousand of children to die. This action caused a great number of people to consider Bliar to be a war criminal - who needs locking up. They see his award as a total insult to the children killed in the Iraq conflict. Perhaps Blair and his (neo-con) backers do not want people reminded of all this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.13.187.159 (talk) 19:36, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

modification of the IonThruster page

Hi Kev,

I wasn't aware of the Talks page, so thanks for the hint. However reading the Talk page relative to the IonThruster I have seen that somebody has posted the same remark as I did. I clearly think that the "Propulsive efficiency" paragraph in the Ion Thruster article is irrelevant because the equations used in that section are only valid within an athmosphere (the vehicule velocity is in fact the air velocity around the vehicule). Ion Thrusters are designed and are only used within a vacuum, therefore there is no obvious definition of vehicule velocity. This section is therefore completely misleading. Can I directly modify this page or do we have to wait for the author or somebody else to modify it? Apparently that contribution was made by a user named Rememberway the 7 march 2011, the page needs fixing to my mind.

 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.227.1.37 (talk) 13:35, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
You can modify the page yourself, but remember that anything you add to the article needs to be properly sourced and not be discussion. Kev (talk) 14:27, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Viola

This revert on Viola was a bad one. The IP user did remove content, but it was in fact promotional content about a single violist and irrelevant to the general topic. Please be more careful when using automated tools. Thank you, BethNaught (talk) 15:34, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Didn't support changes with a citation?

Hi Kev,

Thanks for the message earlier.

I am totally new to editing content in Wikipedia.

You saw that I tried making changes for a public figure. The information in the content is false. I'm trying to fix those errors but you see I have very little knowledge about fixing articles.

You have instructed to add citations to support the changes. Can you please help me out in doing that?

Really appreciate you message.

Thanks a lot.

Wikipedia froze while adding citations

Hi Kev,

I was adding citations to the content I added to a page when suddenly it stopped and froze to a screen where it is showing that it is applying changes. It's not it is not active but I'm not able to close or save anything.

I tried adding screen shot of the screen but the screen again stuck to a page where image is being uploaded.

It took me a whole day to make changes in the content and add citations. can you please do something.

Thanks

Replaceable fair use File:SeventiaBlackMagicCover.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:SeventiaBlackMagicCover.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:14, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
