Speedy deletion of Remington College

A tag has been placed on Remington College, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. –Dream out loud (talk) 17:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

{{adminhelp}} I need help to add an image. I have an image for a college that I would like to add to the page I just created "remington college" Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Keystoneridin

First off, use {{helpme}} for cases when anyone can help, not only an admin. As for your question, rather then having a lengthy explanation, I suggest you read Wikipedia:Uploading images first. If you have any questions still unanswered after reading those manual pages, feel free to ask. Regards SoWhy 20:54, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Remington College

Currently, the Remington College article reads as if it is an advertisement for the school, as it consists of nothing more than the school's location, and a list of programs that it offers. The entire article consists of only two actual sentences, which does not constitute as encyclopedic. It does currently meet the speedy deletion criteria as of now, and I have reinstated the template. They are not to be removed once they are placed on a page, and removing speedy deletion tags from pages you have created can lead to your account being banned. If you want to contest the speedy deletion as you plan to improve the page, then read the instructions in the template, which tell you to place a {{hangon}} template in the article, then post a comment on the talk page, but removing the speedy deletion tag is prohibited. –Dream out loud (talk) 19:46, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Remington College

Why you are an admin, I do not know. You are threatening to ban me because I edited the page. Each wiki page is always considered a work in progress. You do not acknowledge this and are there for abusing your rights as an administrator. I am working diligently to make this page work as an unbiased work. I asked for your help and the only help you gave me was to request a speedy deletion of my work. I am reporting this as administrative vandalism.Keystoneridin (talk) 20:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

You are being very ignorant here. First, I am not an admin. I only tag pages for admins to look at. Second, I did not remove the content from the page. If you check the history, you will see that it was a different editor than myself. All I did was tag the page for speedy deletion, which is NOT vandalism. So do not accuse me of something I did not do. –Dream out loud (talk) 21:46, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Maybe I am being ignorant, but check this out: you are setting wikipedia back years. You should excercise all possibilities before requesting a page delete. Maybe you should looke at the content and see how it could be made better.Keystoneridin (talk) 22:58, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Worlds Largest Round Barn

A tag has been placed on Worlds Largest Round Barn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please Help Me

I am trying hard to add pictures of the subject. I got permission from the webmaster at BlueEyedPanda.com to use three images from MartySimpson.com on the Wikipedia entry, but submitting images is very complicated and I do not know how to do it.

If you think you can edit this article to appear less biased and better in terms of not getting deleted, please do so.

It is my clear intention to start a reference to an up and coming comedian that will, after the airing of this television program, be someone that gets searched for often.

Thanks. File:kicking.jpg Jim Nayzium (talk) 21:37, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately Wikipedia does not accept permission to use images only on Wikipedia; permission must allow reuse by anyone for anything. In any case I doubt that the webmaster has the right to give any permission to use the football images. Sorry. Your image is almost certainly not under a free license; so I changed your post to link to link to the image rather than show it. A non-free image cannot be shown on a talk page. —teb728 t c 02:36, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Jim Nayzium (talk) 21:37, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help with all of this everybody!
I have updated my talk page on the matter and gotten the subject to post an image that is free to re-use. Please see my talk page and help with that. THANK YOU ALL for the kind help!Jim Nayzium (talk) 15:23, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Your question about copyrights

I am probably a poor person to ask -- I deal so little with images that I always have to go back and read the policies from the start. For an admin, I'm pretty clueless on that topic.

I suggest you ask for help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Good luck, --A. B. (talkcontribs) 01:10, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

You need the copyright holder to mail a WP:CONSENT declaration to the permission e-mail address. All content that has previously been published needs to have this sort of release on file. The other alternative is to ask the copyright holder to add a notice on their webpage that they release the image under a free license of their choice (this avoids having to e-mail the permission in). If you have specific questions, feel free to contact me. For the time being, I've tagged the image as lacking permission. -Andrew c [talk] 02:15, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Richard Bachman

Well, I can think of two reasons off of the top of my head:

  1. Tebow has a mountain of coverage in the press, accumulated over a long period of time, in national sources. Bachman, so far, has a couple of brief articles in local news sources that basically say "he's been signed".
  2. Systematic bias.

There has also been a consensus built up over a long period of time that playing in a youth national team is no guarantee of notability (see Hemant Punoo and Richard Greer), and that merely being signed to a top flight team doesn't qualify either (see Francesco Monterosso and Shave Savage). Is the WCHA/NCAA a fully professional league? In my preferred sport of cricket, there is more or less a consensus that university grade players are not notable, even though this is the main route for players into IPL, state and international representative play (the highest levels). I also question the notability of the award, because it's not listed on the rather short Curtis Joseph article - if it was such an important achievement, then why isn't it noted there?

Also, I have to note, that I haven't actually threatened to use my admin flag to do anything here (and indeed, I wouldn't), so I found this comment a little disappointing and unnecessary.

I hope that the above addresses your concerns, but I'm happy to respond to any further questions that you might have. Lankiveil (speak to me) 05:51, 29 March 2009 (UTC).

No worries. I share your concerns about Tebow, but there's always WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS to counter that. I suppose his supporters would point out that Tebow has a list of what seem to be major awards as long as my arm, not to mention having a couple of laws named after him - if Bachman has either of those I'll be happy to change my !vote immediately! =). Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:06, 29 March 2009 (UTC).

Re: Chevrolet Vega

I don't know why you have a problem with me. I've used only my own photos and removed most of the non-free images. I'm getting tired of this. I'm trying to make a good article.(VegavairbobVegavairbob (talk) 05:19, 31 March 2009 (UTC)) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vegavairbob (talkcontribs) 17:35, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I removed your SD tag from the article, there is some content in it. If you want to mark it, perhaps an A7 tag is a better choice. ttonyb1 (talk) 05:58, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for speedy deletion

Hi there. Although the work in new-page patrol is valuable for Wikipedia, please be careful to tag only pages for speedy deletion that meet the criteria for speedy deletion. I just declined two of those taggings, one at Said Al-Sobakhi (because neither missing notability nor missing sources are a reason for speedy deletion, see A7) and another at Birkaw (because having little content makes an article a stub, not a speedy candidate). Please review the criteria again and be sure to tag only pages that meet them. Use {{db-xxx}} to tag them (where xxx stands for the criterion, e.g. "a7"). Regards SoWhy 06:59, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Please also be careful about which criteria you use. Haskris was far from being gibberish or unintelligible, though the company appeared to be non-notable, so should have been tagged under A7. Thanks. --GedUK  20:04, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Verbandsliga Schleswig-Holstein-Süd-Ost

I've just noticed your tag on this article and I was wondering what you consider wrong with them. I'm creating a set of four of them right now and if you let me know, I will try to address the issues. Maybe just leave a little list on the articles talk page, it will make it easier for me to do something about it. Thanks, regards, EA210269 (talk) 07:07, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't quite follow. My guess is, you mean the Template:German Verbandsligas and Landesligas (football), which I recently downsized, removing the Verbandsliga and Landesliga titles from each league to make it a little smaller and easier to view. All, the links still work, however. Is it that one you are talking about? I can easily restore the bigger, more complicated version if this is what you think is wrong. EA210269 (talk) 15:11, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I've removed the tag from the article as you couldn't provide any proper explanation what needs to be cleaned up in it and ten days have past since I requested one. If you would like to discuss the issue further or have found out why you added it, drop me aline. EA210269 (talk) 03:44, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Spelling

While your efforts to correct spelling are appreciated it should be noted that words such as centre, colour or manoeuvre as in your G-LOC 'corrections'are not spelling errors or the result of French translations but legitimate spelling in most English speaking countries. What you are doing is Americanising (you would probably write Americanizing) perfectly legitimate usage. It doesn't matter which conventions are used although they should probably be consistent within a article. The spellings you changed are in use in at least the United Kingdom, Eire, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and half the rest of Africa and all the old British colonies and dependencies such as India. I am not sure what Canada does but I would respect their right to British, American or Canadian spelling. Try changing your spellchecker to British or Australian English for a while, you might find it interesting. Ex nihil (talk) 12:13, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tag on Clann Taidg

I've removed this tag as I'm of the opionion that it's more about a geographical area than a person so not eligable for A7. With what looks like a reliable source I'm not sure how happy I'd be with this being speedied regardless of what it was about. I'd suggest WP:AfD if you think it's appropiate. Dpmuk (talk) 09:49, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tag on Crossover (Football Trick)

I've also removed this one as I don't think there's an applicable speedy. If the article were to be merged this page would probably need to be kept for the purposes of attribution. If none of the material is to be merged I'd suggest WP:PROD.

Note - I've been looking at speedy deletion candidates rather than your edit history and have only just noticed that both of these taggings were yours. Dpmuk (talk) 09:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

On the advice of a few kind editors, I listed all my resources/citations that back-up all the information on the Jay Jennings article on the "Delete discussion page" under Jay Jennings. I'm at my wits end. If I get deleted, I figure good riddance to this rabid gang pompous editors who only enjoy attacking newbies for no reason. But I dare them to do it in the face of more than half-a-dozen categorical references which I've plainly laid out. So if I'm deleted, it'll be out of spite on their part, not because the article I started and fixed up was lacking in references or notability. It seems there's a group of rogue editors out there who simply don't care about verifiable links or footnotes. As you saw for yourself, some give no credence to the IMDB or even to the fact that Mr. Jennings is an author and was published by a highly reputable book publisher. It seems no matter what I do to make the article more acceptable, their only concern is deleting a newbie's page just so they can add another deletion to their belt. This is ludicrous and not what Wikipedia is all about, is it? Perhaps there is something you can do, or someone you know who can keep these mean-spirited editors off my back and once and for all allow the article to stand on it's own. Thanks for your help. Hi! You tagged the Maria Baez for speedy deletion here. Please note that failing WP:POLITICIAN is not one of the speedy deletion criteria, and only articles that unambiguously meet one of the criteria can be speedily deleted. I suggest you prod the article instead (just tag the article with {{subst:prod|article fails [[WP:POLITICIAN]]}}). I've removed the speedy deletion tag. Thanks, Jafeluv (talk) 20:17, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

With respects, not a hoax. The woman existed and so does the film. [1], [2]. However, the article in question definitely suffers from POV. I have suggested an alternate article at the AfD. MichaelQSchmidt (talk) 19:35, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Please don't take in personally

When someone disagrees with you, you shouldn't take it personally. When Spaceman prodded "your" disambiguation page as not needed, you left him a nasty talk page message. When I contested the prod you placed on Mission Syndicate you left me a nasty message and accused me of abuse my admin powers (which weren't actually needed in either situation, FYI). Then you assumed "bad faith" and claimed I would block you "my own personal benefit." I assure you I would never do that.

However, I do need to warn you that your attitude is unacceptable. You can go around leaving people nasty messages every time they do something you don't like. We have a strict policy against personal attacks and must insist you assume good faith at all times.

Thank you, ThaddeusB (talk) 20:51, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Jay Jennings Article Illogically Deleted

The consensus was to keep, yet some elitist administrator deleted it anyways. Don't know if I care to re-submit. Did you still want me to send you the article's code to see what you can do with it? You have to understand, none of the 15 verifiable resources were taken seriously by this arrogant person. They dismissed them all, so what good would a re-submit do? The administrator's here seem to pick and choose what articles to delete as if they were going out for pizza. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Timemachine1967 (talk) 04:20, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Jay Jennings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your report of 70.138.111.155 was declined and removed, because the IP last edited 30 November, and thus we never know whether and who will return editing from that IP. In such case, please check the history before reinstating a report. Materialscientist (talk) 05:15, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

In short, low activity, last edit 30 November. Declined. We do not lock wikipedia because we want to, we sometimes semiprotect some articles which qualify certain protection criteria. Materialscientist (talk) 05:26, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Would it be possible to have semi-protection?keystoneridin! (talk) 05:28, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
As long as wikipedia keeps it slogan "free to edit", semiprotection is a tool which is not to be abused. Thus realistically no administrator would semiprotect that article because of low frequency of vandalism edits. We might start blocking individual IPs which vandalize that page first, but we are far from there yet. Materialscientist (talk) 05:34, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for patrolling NPP! However, please welcome and warn the users when adding speedy tags. If you have questions, contact me at my talk page. SwisterTwister talk 19:23, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

I also suggest waiting 10 minutes or so before tagging an article. Tagging an article within minutes may discourage users who may not have finished writing the article. SwisterTwister talk 19:30, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Please also note that A7 only applies to the categories listed, so not to monuments. Thanks--Tikiwont (talk) 20:15, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello Keystoneridin. • I believe that I typed the incorrect template. Should have be a db-advertisement. I saw no reason why a hack reference would be on Wikipedia. Let me know if you have any other questions.keystoneridin! (talk) 15:27, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
There is no {{db-advertisement}} tag. {{db-spam}} is used to tag articles that are thought to be blatantly promotional. This article was not a promotion, but an informative report about a known computer security threat. Wikipedia contains a vast amount of coverage on computer security threats -- they are not advertisements but informative articles on the nature of computer security. Hi Keystoneridin. May I suggest you have another look at .zim? I'm really not sure how one could interpret that as a vandalism page. I'd really appreciate it if you'd have another look and either tell me why you think it was vandalism or retract the warning you gave the author. Thanks. ϢereSpielChequers 15:48, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Mistaken speedy deletion nom of Never Just a Dream?

Hey, Keystoneridin, I think you made a mistake when you tagged this article; you used Template:db-animal, but the article is about an album. Perhaps you meant WP:CSD#A9, although that one doesn't apply either, since the author has her own article. Anyway, I declined the nom, but I haven't looked at the article super-closely, so feel free to PROD it or whatever if you think it's necessary. Thanks! Writ Keeper 19:14, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Rollback

Hi Keystonerididin. After reviewing your prior contributions, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Calmer Waters 03:34, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Linda Tran: not vandalism

Hi again, Keystoneridin. I saw your CSD nomination of this page. I don't disagree that it should be deleted, but I think that G3 is the wrong criterion for it. It should be done with Template:db-bio, a subset of A7 (lack of asserted importance/significance). It looks like the kind of well-meaning autobiography we get all the time, and while they're not appropriate for Wikipedia, they're also not vandalism in the Wikipedia sense. There are all sorts of special rules for vandalism (such as reversion of it being exempt from the three-revert rule), so we need to be careful in what we label as vandalism. Thanks! Writ Keeper 19:21, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

  • My fault. Thank you for keeping up with my CSD's!keystoneridin! (talk) 19:22, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I hope you meant...

conscientious, not contentious, in this. --SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:24, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

  • EEK! Sorry about that!

I don't want to remove the speedy deletion templates you put on another article, but can you please explain how this constitutes a G3? A G3 is for pure vandalism, and I googled the game and it exists. Perhaps an A7, PROD, or AFD might be better. Thank you, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 17:26, 22 June 2012 (UTC).

  • I will remove the CSD and take it to AFD instead. I thought it had something to do with a Wikipedia sandbox game. You are correct that this is not vandalism then, nor would it be a pure hoax which is what I was thinking it might have been. I appreciate you following up on this and putting it on my talk page. I will send it to AFD asap! Thank you! keystoneridin! (talk) 17:29, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Patrolling

Hey, thanks for helping out with new page patrolling. I notice you marked Stavropol state medical academy as patrolled, and added an unreferenced tag to it. Turns out that page was a copyright violation of this page and should have been tagged for speedy deletion G11. Usually it's pretty easy to spot pages that have just been copied and pasted from a website. Be sure to keep an eye out for this in the future, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask on my talk page. Thanks. -Scottywong| chatter _ 21:37, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Waldo Canyon image

Well, we have stumbled into a bit of a hole in Wikipedia's copyright policy. I saw this photo on the Fox 21 site first, which is why I instantly recognized it. I have no reason to doubt you (although, out of curiosity, why is the image so small, and with no metadata?), but it is credited to two different people on Yahoo News and Fox 21. I'll restore it to the articles, but it would ease my mind if you'd send in verification of authorship through WP:ORTS; it would also keep others from making the same mistake I did. Or even better, if you have a better resolution version, I'd be ecstatic if you would upload it, as it really is a striking image! -RunningOnBrains(talk) 01:57, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

  • The image is so small because I had to edit it a bit. None of the smoke or anything else is altered. In the original photograph, a haze covered up my lens so I used a de-ionize feature on my Macbook to take away the smoke. When I re-edited the photo, I accidentally made a small resolution file which I uploaded here. I've had some photo's in the past deleted because of clarity. As far as the multiple authors, I submitted the photo to three news stations. From my understanding, there are around 11 people who claim to be authors. I'm not picky about it because I want everyone to see it. I took the picture with a Nikon D80 with a small range telephoto lens with a 2 inch clarity extension and a red light filter. I will be glad to upload all the required documents. Thanks!Keystoneridin (speak) 02:52, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Your recent contributions

I wanted to notify you that the "unreferenced" tag you added to Elmer Gainer and Gary Garland was removed. However, the article contained Basketball-Reference and NBA links before you tagged the articles. You have several excellent contributions, but you should be careful not to be too hasty when tagging. Earlier today, you simply added a reflist to Rotorua Golf Club but I believe you should've removed the advert-like information. Information such as "It makes playing there like no other place on earth. Playing in a volcano makes this golf course simply one of a kind" is not encyclopedic and should be removed. A user named "Rotoruagolfclub" started the article and would fuel suspicions of advertisement. SwisterTwister talk 00:31, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Thank you for the note. I appreciate, as I said at your RFA, that you gave a good explanation for this. My simple goal was not to "rewrite" the article, but to tag it so that others may see the problems. It's good that you let me know about this because now I will know not to tag sports pages like this. Good day to you!Keystoneridin (speak) 04:30, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

You've now misspelled roux's name twice in the AN/I thread. Folks can be very particular about those kinds of things. I edited the article a bit, tweaking some of the sentences to show that he was one of the very few people who could sink a US ship with a submarine during Japan's 1945 Kaiten Project, so that way people could comprehend how he was significant to the war, and to Wikipedia. Biography Recently Published (Cristian Poow)

Hi.

I've collected all the information about me on the Web and it took about 3 hours to write, re-write and design the Article. I believe in good faith it's worth it and has NO self-critic at all - I am also Writer, that's why I'd rather send you this message in order to keep my article live - I mean not deleted, probably with the changes you might apply.

I hope you (admins) can understand and read the Bio so you get that I am not an unknown person who wants to be popular through Wikipedia. Whether you need me to write some other articles, do not hesitate to ask me for it :)

Thanks in advance,
