Hi there Smobri,

I took a look at your edit history to get a sense of what your interests are and I see that you have made alot of great contributions to Wikipedia. It appears you have an interest in articles relating to Canada and its cool that you have added lots of references and links to improve Wikipedia. Referencing is a very important task here and you are to be congratulated for the effort you put into this. Thanks!

I'm also impressed that you almost always use the edit summary, it helps fight vandalism, and lets people looking at the history see where large and small changes have been made. Way cool!

I see you've had some criticism about some of the external links you have added. I don't think all of that criticism is justified as some of the links look fine to me but I haven't really looked at them all in detail. It could be that your links have just come to the attention of an editor who has strong opinions regarding external links. Either way, you have kept your cool and not let the difference of opinion drive you away. Again, very cool!

On a personal note, I read the articles you contributed to regarding early settlement of Canada. My G,G,Great grandparents came to Ontario (Peel County first and then Bruce County) from North Frodingham in Yorkshire, England, in the 1820's and I have done lots of research into their lives and the general situation of those early settlers. I am planning a trip next spring to Ontario to spend a few months doing research in some libraries, archives and local historical societies to learn more about the life and times of those very tough and adventurous people who settled the Queens Bush!

Anyway, keep up the great work you are doing! I am going to reread the relavant policies regarding external linking and then examine a random selection of your links to see if I can detect any general things you might be overlooking in this regard, but for right now I think you're doing a great job here. Let me know if I can help you in any way.--killing sparrows (chirp!) 21:18, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS, you can go to this page to see a count and breakdown of all your edits. Just type in your user name in the top box!--killing sparrows (chirp!) 21:22, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your encouragement! I posted the adoption template when I first started trying to get involved in Wikipedia, and since there were no responses for a long time I got used to figuring things out on my own -- but it's so nice to have your encouragement and advice. It's great to know I can contact you with questions (and anything else that comes up). Thanks again; Smobri 13:06, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
