Welcome![edit]

Hello, Kingpatron32, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Response[edit]

Hi! I saw that you were having trouble with the assignment. In a nutshell, what you're going to be doing here is expanding Wikipedia's coverage of topics you discussed in class. It looks like you chose to edit the articles on Gender & History as well as the Gender Parity Index. Offhand you really only need to chose one article to contribute to. What I would recommend doing is focusing on the Gender Parity Index, as this needs expansion. I would particularly recommend that you create a section on the history of the index and how it has been used, as this is something that is important about this index and how it has grown and changed over time to meet various needs. With sourcing, the best place to look would be your school's academic databases, as those will typically have the strongest possible sources.

If you want to edit a different article, that's fine - just make sure that it's something that you can work on. If you want, I can help you come up with ideas. Just let me know on my talk page if you would like help on this end. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:09, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not only was that a verbatim copy from a copyrighted page, but it would not have been appropriate even if it were not copyrighted. Did you even look at the article before you added that? The article is about the particular journal Gender & History, not about one particular paper, and one that didn't even appear in that journal as far as I can tell. Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Basketball. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Per WP:BRD you need to discuss this material on the article's talk page. Do not continue to restore it.
