Josiah Priest[edit]

Thanks for picking this topic! Although what Priest wrote is usually judged as exceptionally harmful to Native Americans and African-Americans, I think history's "bad guys" deserve as much documentation as the "good guys". There are important lessons to be learned from the effects of Priest's publications on American consciousness. As you know, there are some online editions of some of Priest's publications available through Google Books. Note that the KU library has original copies of both American Antiquities (1833) and Slavery, as it relates to the Negro, or African race, examined in the light of circumstances, history and the Holy Scriptures (1843).
