Meissen/Meißen + other points

Regarding the article Henry III, Markgraf of Meißen, and the others you are putting up regarding German ruling houses, I have some comments to make, which I hope you will take as helpful.

Firstly, the German letter ß does not exist in English and to most English speakers is not comprehensible. The English form of Meißen is Meissen. It avoids a lot of problems (and cleaning up) if when dealing with German language items you substitute for the ß a double ss - which is not wrong in German either. Secondly, if you are translating from the German Wikipedia please say so, as otherwise your articles will be tagged for lacking sources. Thirdly, please be consistent with titles such as Burggraf/Burgrave and Markgraf /Margrave. Doubtless a case can be made for using either form - but you should decide which you want and then stick to it - again, this will avoid unnecessary copyediting after the event. As an addition to that, maybe you should just stop translating articles from German. I don't know what you are doing, but they sound like they have been put through Babelfish, and they end up making absolutely no sense. We'd almost be better off with no articles at all. Saint Petersburg Governorate

Hi, K! Wanted to drop a quick note to express my gratitude for creation of this article. I see it's still in progress, but—nice job! Also, I wonder if you know the answer to the question I've been trying to have answered for quite a while now. According to numerous sources, Ingermanland Governorate was renamed St. Petersburg Governorate in 1710. I, however, am having a helluva time trying to find an exact date. I was able to find that Peter the I issued an edict to that effect (and that a copy of that edict was at the time of St. Petersburg's 300th Anniversary on display in the Central Archive of Moscow), but the actual date still eludes me (and I do not have access to Russian libraries as I live in the States). Just curious if you happen to know it or if you can look it up somewhere without going into too much trouble. Your articles on the early "Earls of Warwick"

Where did you get your information? I am researching the Greville line (lords of the several manors in Warwickshire in the 13-18th centurie) The title of the book I am using

"Edmondson, Joseph. An historical and genealogical account of the noble family of Greville, to the time of Francis, the present Earl Brooke, and Earl of Warwick including the history and succession of the several Earls of Warwick since the Norman Conquest; and some account of Warwick Castle.. London, 1766."

states that the early Earls claim the last name of de Newburgh. You have gone from Beaumont to Beauchamp. The latter is correct but not sure where you found the former.

Ancestry of Nicholas II of Russia

Please see the new comments on the talk page as to why the format is totally unworkable or change the name of the page to Genealogy of the Russian Imperial Family. The name is misleading as ancestry implies a readable format in which descent can easily be traced. The house divisions are in extensive need of review. I and others will help if needed. Genealogy of the Russian Imperial Family? It is too complex and implies including of the ancestry of all other members, derived from other Emperors. If the name is misleading we need change it, but "Ancestry of Nicholas II of Russia" is equal to "List of ancestors of some particular person, namely Nicholas II of Russia" and reflect the content of this article. What's the deal with Genealogy_of_the_British_Royal_Family then? The article "on Nicholas II" involves an Emperor who inherited father to son over many generations, so the ancesrty covers not only the ancestors of Nicholas II, but the previous Emperors of Russia. Charles 16:27, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

War and Peace question

Hello Kmorozov. I first want to say that I like the change that you made to the Russian film version of War and Peace's wikipage. In reading it a question came to mind. The first paragraph states that it took seven years to produce - then your additions show that part 4 was released in 1966 - which might mean that production started in 1959. Now, having lived through the "Lord of the Rings" experience I can understand that such an epic project like this film might have needed several years of preproduction before principal filming got underway. What I am wondering is whether you have any info on when planning started, when filming actually started and when it might have finished? If you do have any of this info do you think that it is worth adding to the article? From the look of things you are a busy Wikipedian so please don't feel the need to rush a reply to my query but if, and when, you have the time anything you can add to my knowledge of this unique film will be much appreciated.User:MarnetteD | Talk 15:22, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
