Possible conflicts of interest[edit]

Hello, I noticed you were editing the page Women in Technology International. This piqued my interest as your username is WITI Editor, if the first 4 letters of your username correspond to the article you edited there's a possible conflict of interest there. Remember, although I am not accusing you of this, if you are a paid editor for this organisation you need to follow WP:PAID.
Thanks for reading and happy editing,
Kyle Bryant (talk) 20:18, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kyle:

Thank you for bringing this issue up to us we are still new to using Wikipedia and learning the ropes as we go. We did not respond from yesterday because we were trying to sort out the issue. We are underway to figure out what would be the best course of action in order to tell the WITI history within ethical boundaries.

I am not sure how else to get in touch with you other than to respond here. If there is another way, please let us know.

Next time, please grant us more than 12 hours to respond as we all work in different time zones and want the WITI name to be represented correctly under the guidelines of the Wikipedia standards.

All the best.

Please note that your username is not acceptable, as it is that of an organization. Please review the username policy; your username must indicate it is used by a single individual. (you also use "we" and "us" above, please make sure a single individual is using this account) If you suggest a new username on this page, I can change it for you.
You will also need to review the conflict of interest policy and the paid editing policy. You should not edit in the area of your conflict of interest directly, instead you may make edit requests on the article talk page for any changes you feel are needed. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia, where article subjects are shown with independent reliable sources to be notable. Wikipedia has little interest in what an organization wants to say about itself. If there is incorrect information in an article, we want to know what it is, but this is not a place for you to merely tell the world about your organization. 331dot (talk) 14:02, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, 331dot:

The issues noted from yourself, Kyle, and others will be addressed and resolved. Women in Technology International is not looking to advertise for itself, merely add the historical relevance with citations and other factual information. The policies will be reviewed again to ensure they are followed correctly.

All the best,

Kara — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:9381:2020:1090:7C4A:938A:19CB (talk) 14:15, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Remember to log in before posting. If you want your account to be renamed, (which preserves your edit history), please visit WP:CHU for instructions. If you create a new account, make sure to identify it as a successor account of this one.
Note that merely posting your organization's history and "factual information" is considered promotional on Wikipedia unless your source is an independent reliable source. Wikipedia has no interest in what your organization states is its own history. 331dot (talk) 14:19, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, WITI Editor. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Women in Technology International, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. General Ization Talk 13:34, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
