Regarding your recent posting at Spirit of the American Doughboy. And other things. My posting here will turn your talk page link into a blue link. If you post something on your user page, it will stop being a red link and become a blue one too. This is a good thing (details upon request). If you respond to me, either here or on my page, be sure and sign your posting with 4 of these ~ . Okay, now about what you added. Often I will remove (undo) an edit such as yours because you make several claims but supply no references for them. You might want to look around for some references Secondly, it is not clear why you have posted this here? Is the Navy statue by the same sculptor? Or some other reason? Mull it over. Okay, Point 1, the Navy statue is by Viquesney. It does not say that in the article. That would be a good thing to add. Secondly, wikipedia editors calling and asking folk is not considered to be a reliable source. This statue might be worth its own article, but more needs to be learned about it. Sourced stuff. " Meant to be a companion to "The Spirit of the American Doughboy", it sold poorly, occurring in only seven locations: Kingman, Arizona; Clearwater and Palatka, Florida; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Granite and Hobart, Oklahoma; and Crowell, Texas. The last is also unique in being the only stone version. The Spirit of the American Navy" at Kingman, Arizona is the only example of this piece known to be standing on the same base with "The Spirit of the American Doughboy; all the other six are displayed very nearby a copy of it. There are no known examples of "The Spirit of the American Navy" standing alone without his Doughboy "buddy" within sight."
No mention of Michigan. IS it one of these, moved, or another casting? Carptrash (talk) 14:38, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you can help. I am a sculpture historian (on wikipedia. A librarian elsewhere) and have been interested in Viquesney for many years, so your piece intrigues me. None of this is about my doubting what you say or what you have. Do you have pictures of it? Can you find the signature on it? I read somewhere that the navy statue is almost always set up in conjunction with the army one. That might be a clue as to where it came from. I looked in my Chicago sculpture books, but they were of no help. If you will hang in here with me we might figure this out. Carptrash (talk) 00:28, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just created a rather weak Spirit of the American Navy that will need work. I copied your work from the Doughboy and posted it there. Carptrash (talk) 00:42, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
