Arthur Kay (urban designer) moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Arthur Kay (urban designer). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 15:14, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Kolowiki. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. gobonobo + c 10:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Simon C. Okeke moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Simon C. Okeke, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello Kolowiki. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Kolowiki. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Kolowiki|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 08:20, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello
I realize that I have been having my edits revoked to drafts because of promotional language and I am trying to work on making them better for the platform. However, it's not true that I have received any compensation for editing Wikipedia pages. It is just work I have done out of personal interest and the desire to become a top contributor to Wikipedia.
I am sorry for any misconceptions. Kolowiki (talk) 08:29, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So you have no connection to Skyroom or its personnel? 331dot (talk) 08:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: They've now tried to publish an article on Skyroom's founder/ceo in the mainspace a second time (rather than submit Draft:Arthur Kay (urban designer) for review) and used a different DAB to avoid scrutiny, so I'd say that there is likely some sort of COI or UPE situation going on. Best, GPL93 (talk) 13:25, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
hello
I recreated the page using a different title because it was more suitable to the individual. I didn't know of a way to change that title in the draft. Kolowiki (talk) 13:03, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November 2023[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

Hello, I realized a block on my account, and I have taken time to read the terms of use of this platform and I can confirm that admit to using a promotional tone and submitting two pages about the same person with changed titles. However, it is not true that Arthur Kay or any members of his team paid me for the work. It just so happens that his story as an entrepreneur inspires me and wondered why he doesn't have recognition on Wikipedia so I attempted to create a page for Him and the company. I also edited one page that belongs to a company that he owns. I ask that you consider unblocking me as I have realised my mistake in all this, I also promise to do better in the future as I look to become a major contributor. Have a nice day. Kolowiki (talk) 8:19 am, 22 November 2023, Wednesday (1 month, 24 days ago) (UTC−5)

Decline reason:

You will not be unblocked to edit about Arthur Kay, which seems agreeable to you. . Please describe what constructive edits you would make. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:44, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You didn't pick him at random to edit about. How did you come to edit about him? The specific title of a draft is not particularly relevant; if accepted, the reviewer will place it at the proper title. 331dot (talk) 13:52, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello
I did not say that this was a random choice to edit this particular individual, he is someone I have researched and read about and figured he has enough notability to have a page on the platform. He is just one of the people that inspire me as an entrepreneur myself and I though that if I can created a page for him so that more people can access his story.
Secondly, thank you for letting me know that the reviewer can change the title, that a mistake I will not make again given a chance for my page to be unblocked.
Thank you. Kolowiki (talk) 06:40, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please place replies below the coment you are replying to. I've moved this for you. Note that "so that more people can access his story" is a promotional purpose even if you aren't associated with him. Our only interest is in summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage choose on their own to say about a person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. I assume you didn't pick Mr. Kay at random to research- people don't usually perform research without a reason. In any event, if you just want to tell the world about how Mr. Kay inspires you, that's precisely what social media is for. Someone else will review your request but I think you need to edit in other areas before editing about living people. 331dot (talk) 08:41, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello
Thank you for letting me know where I went wrong here. I will make sure I don't make this mistake again. I have also taken a further read and comprehension of the guidelines in an effort to make sure I don't fall into the same mistakes.
I will also take your guidance to avoid editing pages of living people for the time being.
Thank you. Kolowiki (talk) 05:39, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
