Speedy deletion of Clash of Egos

A tag has been placed on Clash of Egos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Whispering 17:07, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Alfred_Hitchcock_portrait.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Alfred_Hitchcock_portrait.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) 14:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Alfred Hitchcock portrait.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Alfred Hitchcock portrait.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rodhullandemu 17:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Girls' Generation issues.

I know you're a fan and you want Wikipedia to have the best information possible about the group. That's a good thing, and absolutely fine. However, in the case of "mini-albums", please note that the line blurs between singles and mini-albums, ESPECIALLY in South Korea. It's already a precedent on English Wikipedia to name articles after the song (which is more noteworthy) and to include the "mini-album" details in release information. This is the case for "Pretty Girl" by Kara, "Nobody" by the Wonder Girls, "Honey" by Kara, and "U" by Super Junior; these are all songs that have had physical releases as "mini-albums" but are all essentially glorified singles with a few B-sides. That's why I feel that they generally don't meet the notability standard for music albums on Wikipedia, as most of the notability is inherited from the song. The only exception I can are the separate articles for Fire (2NE1 song) and 2NE1 (EP), and this is mostly because the EP is longer than the typical Korean mini-album, and it already has three singles from the album that have charted well in Korea ("Lollipop", "Fire", and "I Don't Care"). I hope you see the point I'm trying to make.

The fact of the matter is, I don't "own" Wikipedia, and you can feel free to disagree with me. However, if you do, I would request that you make points FOR including these albums on Wikipedia, especially on notability grounds. Thanks in advance. SKS (talk) 22:20, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:KonKukUniv Logo3.jpg)

Girl Generation Songs

I have redirected the pages you have created to their parent article. Please take a few minutes to read WP:NSONGS before creating anymore song pages. Thank you. MS (Talk|Contributions) 12:19, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have known already about WP:NSONGS, so I think the pages I created today is so enough to be the proper articles for notable singles, songs, albums. Is it wrong? I don't understand. I think that you don't need to insist on doing like that. If you have any doubts, make sure for yourself, or I can explain, prove them to be notable. I want you to do for articles I created as it was before.
-- Kookyunii (talk) 13:36, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As the creator you need to prove that songs are notable, which you haven't done. All you have done is post the track list and the covers. "Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable". You have not proved any of those, the exception being Girls' Generation (song) because it was covered by two artists but you also haven't shown that they meet WP:N and have "enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article". The articles need third-party coverage, like Gee (Girls' Generation song) has. MS (Talk|Contributions) 18:17, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Don't you check Wiki users operating time record ??

I have no idea what you're talking about. J Milburn (talk) 18:06, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I have no idea what "Before you ask again, make sure yourself what the problem is about a questioner please." means. The image in question was orphaned, and non-free images should be deleted if they are not used in any articles, as per our non-free content criteria. I can see that English is not your first language- perhaps you'd be interested in contributing to the version of Wikipedia in your own language? J Milburn (talk) 18:37, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have orphaned the images because they were adding little to the page. Just because the logos exist, there's no reason to use them. Non-free content is used only as a last restort, so we only use it when it is truly adding a lot of the article, as per the non-free content criteria. I am really finding it difficult reading your messages. Again, I reccomend you contribute to the Wikipedia in your first language, rather than here. J Milburn (talk) 10:39, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We are not talking about those other pages, we are talking about this one. A single logo is fine, but if you want to start adding more, you're going to have to justify why these additional logos are so important. J Milburn (talk) 12:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe that the logos should be removed from the other pages, you're welcome to go and remove them. J Milburn (talk) 12:44, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see what the logos are adding to the article. Please read the non-free content criteria. Non-free images may only be used if they significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic- these random additional logos do not increase understanding or add much to the article at all. Hi, thank you for the contribution to Konkuk University. If you're affiliated with the school, may I ask you a favor to take pictures of the school and its neighborhood and upload to here? As you know, the article has no images except fair use logos. We don't have any image of the university but the school is known for the beautiful and spacious campus, so if you can contribute to image uploading, that would be very nice. Category redirects and renaming

Please read carefully and follow the (admittedly complex) procedures spelled out at WP:CFD#Procedure for proposing deletion and/or renaming of categories, whether speedy or not. If you do, the process will go most smoothly; if you do not, your requests for renaming or deletion may be ignored indefinitely. Sorry to be bureaucratic about this, but most of the process is automated, and if the requests are not submitted properly then the bots will not "see" them. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I concur, it appears that you are emptying categories out of process. This is creating more work for admins trying to sort out what happened and forcing someone else to do the work to nominate the categories for discussion. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:49, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Girls' Generation (song). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. You have reverted four times, so please do not revert again or else you might get block. I only reverted three times but the same rules apply. Instead of continuously reverting you should follow WP:BRD. Take it to the talk page so we can discuss this dispute. MS (Talk|Contributions) 09:47, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do NOT put album covers in the category of "product covers", as these are for commercial goods (such as cookies, or paper towels, or cleaning products). Album covers have their own category already, so that is enough. Thank you. SKS (talk) 15:11, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yun Sim-deok

Hi. I noticed you have renamed Yun Sim-deok's little page. Could you explain why on the articles talk page. I am not objecting it is just I would like to know why as I found Yun Sim-deok in more places and no refs to Yoon Sim-Deok. Best wishes, (Msrasnw (talk) 14:25, 31 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Thanks for your speedy response. I am not a Korean speaker but I think we had settled on Yun Sim-deok: following Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) and given that Yun Sim-deok seemed the most used. I don't know if the film alone is a good enough guide as there is a lot of loose transliteration. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 14:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)) PS I guess this should go on the articles talk page. Hope it is fine to put it there.[reply]

Hi, Kookyunii. I notice you renamed this article also. Personally, I don't care which spelling, much less capitalization, we use, as I am well aware that Korean-to-Roman transliteration is very inconsistent. However, we should try to be consistent within our own articles. The group of editors who work on Korean articles has made a decision on how Korean names are to be Romanized at Wikipedia (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean)), and you have changed this article, as well as several names within the article, to a different version without discussion. A credit in a film is not nearly enough to justify a unilateral renaming against consensus. If you disagree with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean), the proper place to discuss it is there. Regards. Dekkappai (talk) 15:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Kookyunii. I notice you've made a practice of renaming subjects. For example this edit where you make the article's default sort name different from the article name, and this edit where you make the subject's name within the article different from the title of the article, and inconsistent even within the article. Again, Korean naming conventions have been decided by consensus. Until you have read and understood Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean), please stop changing article and subject names. Regards. Dekkappai (talk) 16:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edits to Konkuk University

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. --Crossmr (talk) 10:18, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

To nominate an empty category for deletion, use {{db-catempty}}. {{Db-empty}} is only for use on articles (that is, the main namespace). Thank you. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Out-of-process category renaming

Since leaving my previous message, I examined your contributions further and see that you emptied several categories, such as Category:Korean folk musicians, and moved their contents into new categories such as Category:South Korean folk musicians. You have previously been asked not to do this; if you believe an existing category should be renamed, deleted, or merged, you should follow the processes outlined at WP:CFD. Please stop making these kinds of edits; if you continue to ignore Wikipedia policies, your ability to edit may be blocked. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:41, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

infoboxes.

Please note: dashes (-) are to be used, not swung dashes (~), in the infobox for "years active" or anything of the sort. So, "1997-present" is correct. "1997 ~ present" is not. I know you've been going through various articles to change this, so you might want to go back and undo them. Just an FYI. SKS (talk) 05:06, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing: I just found this out, but there should be no distinction between solo and group careers. So for 유진 or 바다, it would be 1997-present. SKS (talk) 05:12, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A massive result of your undiscussed little edit

I've long wondered why the total number of articles related to the Korean Project was suddenly hugely decreased (1000 reduction) in the last month as opposed to the time, and I found the reason just right now. That is because you replaced the template {{Korean}} redirecting to {{WikiProject Korea}} with another template content. Since the function of the project template was removed, that messes up the whole numbering. You have not discussed such a thing with the project member that could cause enormous results to fix. Are you going to fix the 1000 articles by yourself? I restored the previous version since the correct numbering should be fixed first. If you want to keep your edit, you raise the issue to WT:KOREA first. Best regards.--Caspian blue 00:52, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

이만--Caspian blue 01:02, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Tell Me Your Wish album2.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Tell Me Your Wish album2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. SKS (talk) 08:06, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your recent edits to 'Eiffel Tower'

Wikipedia requires all material to be provided with a valid citation. During your recent edits to the above mentioned article, you have removed a number of citations for the material presented. Kindly restore the citations that you have removed before people start adding [citation needed] tags. If the citations aren't restored quickly they have a habit of getting lost. 20.133.0.13 (talk) 12:38, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Portal:Comedy. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also useful when reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Cirt (talk) 00:00, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In line with your suggestion, I have reformatted the Awards section at Park Chan-wook into a table - I think it is much easier to read now. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:49, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding placeholder images to articles

The images you've been adding to biographies clearly state on them that there is strong opposition to their inclusion on biographies. Stop adding them to articles File:Replace this image female.svg.--Crossmr (talk) 00:01, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't follow you. Please explane easier. Anyway I have a curiousity about the problem of the image. What's wrong? The image had been useful long time ago. If not, the image must be deleted. -- Kookyunii (talk) 05:30, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you not understanding and following has caused many issues. If you are not good at English you should consider sticking to the Korean wiki. From the image page: 35 editors (66%) agreed with the question, "placeholder images should not be used at all on the main page of articles",. Most people agreed that these images shouldn't be inserted into article. They're free images so there is no reason to delete them but you shouldn't be inserting them en masse into articles.--Crossmr (talk) 05:36, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to be exclusive. The point is extremely open at Wiki's principle. Your comment make me rather poorly. Anyway, I didn't know the conclusion of the discussion about the image. Let me make an apology for the mistake. I think there are any number of peple not to know about the discussion. -- Kookyunii (talk) 05:58, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The result of the discussion was on the description page of the image you were inserting. If you're going to put something in an article please look at it more carefully before doing so.--Crossmr (talk) 06:46, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
