New Zealand Current events coverage

[edit]

I see your edits at 2007 in New Zealand. There are actually three places in Wikipedia where current events in New Zealand should be recorded (four if you count Wikinews); the others are at Portal:New Zealand and Portal:Current events/Oceania. I maintained those two pages up until the end of last year, and still add occasional news items from Oceania to the latter page. If you'd like to get involved with these two pages, you'd be most welcome.-gadfium 20:53, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are too many pages about what's going on in New Zealand, and not enough stuff to put on them, and not enough people to put the not enough stuff on the too many pages. Updating 2007 in New Zealand is one way I want to help. The other is to make requests for merging of a bunch of silly pages, like the one about 2007 in TV in New Zealand. But, I'll wander around the portal and proof-read, but, at some point I will have something better to do. Kripto 21:03, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Super 14 Userboxes

[edit]

Look I wouldn't worry too much about making new ones. If anything, just change the text within each of the affected templates to read without the geographical names. The addresses aren't that important so don't just make new ones because of them. --mdmanser 10:54, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article 2008 in New Zealand, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ~ BigrTex 15:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no separate discussion page for a {{prod}}. From above, You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Prod is a first step towards deleting a page that doesn't meet the speedy deletion criteria. If nobody removes the tag within the time period, then an admin reviews the page and decides whether or not to keep it. Fewer people need to review the page and weigh in.
If the tag is removed, then the page can never be put through this process again, it must go through the AfD process where a number of editors will review the page and weigh in. After the time period, the closing admin judges the consensus of those editors to determine whether the page is kept or not. ~ BigrTex 15:25, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pollcap.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pollcap.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

[edit]
Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
