I met this gentleman when him and his wife came to visit me at the hospital in May 07. This is shortly after he lost his son, my team leader, in Iraq in Apr 07.

You spent enough time in a Hospital, under the label of 'wounded warrior', people begin to show.... some of them are so called 'personalities', celebrities that you really haven't even heard of but there they are. There are some high ranking officials too.

Some people truly can tell you what they are made of after the first visit.... there are those who don't really want to be there, there are those who are just so damned curious to see what is going on over there (Iraq) and have their own sets of questions.

President Bush showed up one day, he seemed to me like another good ol' boy from Texas. A man I could have a beer with... there wasn't BS written on that face, maybe an ' I don't have all the information' type of look. Maybe.

I met Mr. Manion and his wife that day. It was one of many hard days for them. But on this day I believe I saw the fortitude and character of this man.

There's no BS about him. I believe that a man like that is in short supply.
