Puja Nayyar is an Indian fashion designer based in New Delhi. Puja is a NIFT graduate with a decade of craftsmanship behind her. She is one of the credible International designers who has worked closely with the late Alexander McQueen[1] and has been applauded by renowned international fashion critic Suzy Menkes[2]for her edgy and linear style in work, always experimenting and innovating with new techniques of garment construction and surface embroideries. Her collections are hand-crafted in India.
While at NIFT Delhi, Puja Nayyar was selected at the National level to showcase her collection for the Air France Young Designers' Design Competition in Paris. Ever since her debut her collections have been showcased at the likes of Sao Paulo fashion week, Khazana at the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, NASSCOM conference at Oberoi Hotels & Resorts etc. Puja Nayyar has also created artistic ensembles for the 'Arjo Wiggins' paper show at the India Habitat Centre.[3]
Her fashion designing career gave her a great chance to showcase her work through many catwalk performances, each of which has been theme based. Collections by Puja have appeared on the ramps of India Fashion Week amongst many other highly profiled fashion venues and exhibitions. Puja has been selected as one of the 5 Asian Designers, for excellence in work, to showcase at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Paris and Singapore[4].
Puja Nayyar has been part of International shows and exhibition as well as an active member of Lakme Fashion Week and Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week back home.
Scrupulous attention to details and the proficient finishing touches meted out with excellence, this describes fashion designer Puja Nayyar and her designs. The flawless designs of Nayyar have made her line of attires a symbol of perfection. The use of exclusive fabrics, with specially treated fibers and meticulously detailed textures, by varied surface treatments, makes her garment worth the purchase. She excels in creating garments with clean and minimal use of lines. Puja Nayyar continuously believes in the philosophy of asymmetry, yet having a balanced frame of mind and body.[5]
Puja is one of the few Indian designers who has collaborated with the Aditya Birla Group to design and produce edgy collections with a contemporary vision for the current three seasons[6].
