Notes On the anime[edit]

  • The "musical comedy" concept (where characters spontaneously break into song and dance) that is interwoven into the plot line of this unusual in terms of Japanese Anime. It's not common to have a musical numbers in anime (where character sing songs about their emotions; animated films by Disney are famous for this) but Nerima Daikon Brothers is modeled on the Blues Brothers and Bollywood musicals such as Muthu.
  • Originally there were 13 episode planned, however, there was only a 12 week slot open for the show on TV Tokyo. The 13th episode mentioned at the 2006 Tokyo animation fair. It was supposed to feature a young venture company president as the target character who tried to acquire the Daikon field. (A reference to livedoor.)
  • This is Shigeru Matsuzaki's first anime voice ating role in 24 years; he plays Hideki.
  • Until recently with TV anime didn't make jokes about the current news topics like Homosexual love, consumer credit, or the success of Korean artists in Japan.
