The article Natural sleep or anesthesia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Essay

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. →Στc. 00:40, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Lifebox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you can assert the importance of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

See the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. roleplayer 22:17, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In-line links[edit]

Please don't use in-line external links in the bodies of articles as it goes against WP:MOS. I re-factored what you entered here but left it as a bare link in the reference. You might want to warp it up in a {{cite web}} tag. Ref generator can help you do that. --GraemeL (talk) 22:42, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cardiac Surgery[edit]

Hi L509alumni. I reverted your edits to the "Risks" section of the Cardiac surgery article. The paragraph was overly complicated; while I understand that the article is about cardiac surgery, there were a lot of terms used that someone without an M.D. might not understand, not to mention the fact that there were no interwiki links to pages that might clarify the terms. The whole paragraph was sourced to a blog, which unfortunately isn't a credible source. If you'd like to add this information again, please try to condense it and find better sources! If you're having trouble finding some, you can try asking other editors on the talk page if they can help you. Cheers! Murmuration (talk) 23:26, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks.
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Hello L509alumni. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Hu12 (talk) 11:03, 14 December 2011 (UTC) Page2anesthesiology.org is not spam. How do I appeal the decision?L509alumni (talk) 13:14, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

We have fairly stringent referencing requirements for medical content. Please see WP:MEDRS which stipulates that review articles or major textbooks are preferred. Blogs are not. Cheers Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:03, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would be best to to cite the journal article/review article in question and just leave out the blog. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:08, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit there are a couple of issues [1] 1) is the link to the blog 2) the PMID in question is to primary research rather than to a review article. We very strongly prefer review articles as they give a better sense of the opinion of a community of academics. I do realize that Wikipedia does take some time to get used to. It can be a lot of fun and is a great way to share the science / art of your profession though once you do.--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 20:37, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes agree. It would be great if all articles where improved in line with policy. I have removed the poor ref in question. When I edit I typically type in the topic I am interested in into pubmed, restrict the search to review articles by the tab on the left, find something within the last couple of years, pull up the whole text through my university and begin writing from there.Doc James (talk · contribs ·email) 21:11, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is a difference between an article on a blog and using it as a reference. There is also an article on the journal anesthesia here Anaesthesia_(journal) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:20, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
