You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammed Hameed Farhan and deleted Mohammed Hameed Farhan. A few months later he was capped by the Iraq national football team and the page was recreated. However the previous edit history hasn't been restored. Can you do this? Can you also merge in the edit history for the other three previously deleted versions of the page at Mohammed Hameed. Thanks, Nfitz (talk) 04:20, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

I've undeleted the article, which has the effect of merging the history. LFaraone 15:22, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, that restored one of the deleted version. However 3 earlier versions exist at Mohammed Hameed. The first was around for a while, deleted after an Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammed Hameed (2nd nomination) in October 2012, and two later version were speedied (in December 2012 and February 2013). I was going to redirect Mohammed Hameed to [Mohammed Hameed Farhan]], but thought it would be easier to sort out the edit history first ... but as far as I know, I can't do this. Sorry, missed the second half of your original comment :) This should now be handled. LFaraone 04:53, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

IP block

Hi, Luke, IPs should almost never (some say never) be indefinitely blocked. Some argue that open proxies should be but there's really no basis in policy for that view. In any event, you indefinitely blocked a dynamic IP (195.132.58.181 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)) for a legal threat. I think you should reduce the duration to a month or shorter. If it were a static IP, I'd say you could go longer, but blocking a dynamic IP (unless, as a CU, you have information about this IP I don't) generally is an exercise in futility and it prevents other legitimate users from editing with that address.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:20, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

I've changed it to one month. Thanks for the reminder; I was misreading Wikipedia:Blocking_IP_addresses#Indefinite_blocks as the opposite of what it actually said. LFaraone 19:22, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
It's comforting to know that we can all make mistakes. I wouldn't want to be alone in that regard. Regards.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:45, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

The motion reads as follows:

  • By way of clarification, the formal warning issued by Kevin Gorman was out of process and therefore has no effect. The provisions of WP:BLPBAN will be reviewed by the Arbitration Committee and where necessary updated.
