If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jagger Eaton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 01:59, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Jagger Eaton. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. reddogsix (talk) 03:25, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Response to removed speedy deletion.

[edit]

Please note, I left a message on your user Page in regards to the accidental removal of the flag. This was not intended on my part and was an accident. Once I realized my mistake I immediately placed a note on your user Page. I have responded to your requested speedy deletion request and contested it on the talk Page. I believe that if you follow the citations added you will find that this article meets the requirements. Labeach2002 (talk) 03:36, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi mate. I see you've recently joined Wikipedia and that you've been trying to create skateboarding related articles. You should know there are a group of editors who work together to start new skateboarding articles and clean up existing ones - the Skateboarding Wikiproject. I'm a member and you should feel free to join.

I've just volunteered at WP:DRV to help you build a good article at Jagger Eaton. There are plenty of sources, you probably just didn't add enough of them to begin with. Anyway, welcome! We're looking forward to working with you! Stalwart111 06:23, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: - I think in it's current form it might struggle but there's plenty out there with which to build a good article and my new draft might stand a better change. The problem is that Wikipedia has a very strong policy with regard to Biographies of Living People to avoid defamation and libel and to avoid the publication of rumours, innuendo and personal information. Articles about living people are always more strictly policed and deleting a problematic article (even temporarily) is always an option. You've picked about the hardest type of article to start with.
I'm also sure there's much more you could add! Maybe just hold off for now (there's a couple of things I've noticed need fixing already) - if the DRV thread results in restoration, admins may want to move it over in one block without lots of edits in the history. That might necessitate a history merge. But after it is in the right place, go for it! Stalwart111 12:46, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the necessity of having a strong policy in this area, but I do have significant issue with "speedy deletion" of an ariticle in this situation, but who am i to say, just a new user. Unfortunately I thought I was picking an easy article to start with, I guess I was very wrong. I will hold off on any further additions and watch things unfold. If there is an oportunity for me to speak about the subject please let me know. thanks again
Labeach2002 (talk) 13:58, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the DRV will take long now that we have an additional draft for people to consider. They'll either be okay with it or not. Once that's decided you'll have plenty of opportunities to comment/edit further. But feel free to get involved in some other stuff in the meantime. WP:RA is a good place to start, as are any of the Wikiprojects. Stalwart111 14:19, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DRV

[edit]

It will be a week--we tend to let discussions go that long so that everyone can get words in if they want to. Unless something changes, I'd give it a 95% chance of being restored or at least getting the new version there. It clearly wasn't an A7. The only issue might be if someone thinks that a very young minor as a subject means it should be handled differently. That's not impossible, but really unlikely. So just wait for now... • hey Hobit, is there any reason why this DVR is still open??

Re: Help request

[edit]

Ha ha, okay, you should probably be careful about describing consensus discussion outcomes as "winning" or "losing", but yes it was a good result. I'll merge some content across. Editors are still free to nominate it for deletion (in fact nothing can stop them from doing so) but I'd be surprised if anyone did. Stalwart111 02:09, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Help request (new)

[edit]

Hi. I've started by cleaning up the article a bit and removing some stuff that really isn't relevant. Nobody really needs to know where he lives (especially given his age) and the media appearances (only one of which was sourced) don't really need a section of their own. I've moved it into the career section and removed the bit about the cartoon character which really should stay there until we have a proper source. I've fixed the style of the results section (so removed that tag), fixed the sources to ensure that basically everything is sourced (so removed that tag too) and fixed the citation style to ensure they are all fairly consistent (so removed the last of the tags). If you add more sources in the future, try to format them so that they match rather than just providing bare links/urls. Cheers, Stalwart111 06:54, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
