A barnstar for you!

The Admin's Barnstar
For your great dispute resolution skills. Deathlaser :  Chat  16:43, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure I have been all that great at it, but thank you! LadyofShalott 17:03, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Haymon

As you are interested in "Thyrsus" you may also want to have a glance at "Haymon" and "Tyrolean shale oil" -- Akolyth -- (talk) 16:55, 27 May 2012 (UTC+1)

Thanks! LadyofShalott 02:38, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Lady of Shalott, would you care to patrol the two articles: Tyrolean shale oil and Haymon? -- Akolyth (talk) 18:10, 28 May 2012 (UTC+1)

I've looked at both of them. Is there something specific you'd like me to do? LadyofShalott 16:15, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

If you are fine with them could you mark them as being patrolled? -- Akolyth (talk) 19:29, 28 May 2012 (UTC+1)

Done In general though, I really don't think you need to worry about that step. It's not a mark against you if the article you created hasn't been marked as patrolled. LadyofShalott 17:38, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Ta! -- Akolyth (talk) 19:29, 28 May 2012 (UTC+1)

I'm going to have to think about night-themed books. The one that immediately came to mind was apparently the one you found by searching. LadyofShalott 13:50, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Sounds fun! I found Acquainted with the Night (book). LadyofShalott 14:04, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Haha, do we have a noticeboard for Wikipedians in agony? See User:Ywreuv. Drmies (talk) 14:05, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
My response to that will remain off-wiki. If you want it, you know how to find me elsewhere. LadyofShalott 14:09, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I think we have the same response. There's an ANI thread on the user, for stalking User:Roscelese. Drmies (talk) 14:24, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I saw that (after you directed me to the user page). You probably know what subject areas Roscelese tends to edit in... LadyofShalott 14:43, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
And in the category Wikipedians whose user page is well-nigh impossible to load: User:DynamoDegsy. Drmies (talk) 14:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, that I'll leave to check out later when I'm not on such a slow connection. LadyofShalott 14:43, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your help fixing up this one! It's hard finding information on her, and she seems to have been out of print for a while. As you've expressed a special interest, including on your user page....

**** ******* ******. Yeah, leave it to Tony to up the trivia on Wikipedia. Drmies (talk) 13:43, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
I need first letters at least, Drmies. There's now even a whole category devoted to this garbage: Category:Celebrity Twitter accounts. LadyofShalott 13:55, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, you would take serious offense. Yeah, Tony knows how to cross his i's and dot his t's, so those abominations look like real articles. Drmies (talk) 15:00, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
OK, I'll take your word for that. It looks like more Twitterpedia articles are planned. There are redlinks, and even a succession box! Some of the writing is atrocious - why do people writing fanpages and similar articles love phrasing like "on March 20, 2011, it was confirmed that..."? LadyofShalott 15:24, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
At least they're not yet nominated at DYK. That writing, it's fan talk, and "it was announced" usually means that the announcement is deemed notable (pace WP:FART) but there is no actual content in the announcement. It's K/J-pop talk. Drmies (talk) 15:47, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Template:Did you know nominations/Ashton Kutcher on Twitter, Template:Did you know nominations/Barack Obama on Twitter. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 18:36, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Sheesh. Mandarax, I have a feeling you are enjoying this. LadyofShalott 22:40, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
No. The only thing I enjoyed here was the opportunity to create a portmandaraxteau. The strangest thing happened. I first entered the links, then went on to complete my response, clicked "Save page" and got an edit conflict. It had somehow saved it with just the links and then I edit conflicted myself. I decided that was sufficient, so didn't bother to re-edit. BTW, I don't think these articles are the absolute worst things on Wikipedia. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 23:18, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh, good grief. LadyofShalott 23:36, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
What article? Drmies (talk) 00:47, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Lady, I was hoping to get your help creating List of notable people who have articles on Wikipedia regarding their use of Twitter but I guess I will hold off for a week or so. Dennis Brown - © 00:54, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
I may cry. Drmies, are you make me take that to AfD? LadyofShalott 01:31, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Lady is going to do a spit-take when she sees that, Drmies. Too late. I might vote to keep, and get all poetic and persuasive about it, just to let it serve as a beacon of the absurdity of the whole article genre.Dennis Brown - © 01:39, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Dennis, I think the title is beautiful. BTW, I saw a definition of POINT today, and guess what! I'm pointy! Drmies (talk) 01:45, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
You are the throwing star of Twitter articles today, my friend. And thank you, I felt the title had a rather poetic ring to it myself. Dennis Brown - © 01:48, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
It's beautiful Drmies...the essence of WP...but no sourcing? Shouldn't you be ref'ing any discussions on the respective talk pages as a source that the aforementioned people/twitter articles are indeed "notable" (and isn't that a weasel word anyway)? Nolelover Talk·Contribs 01:41, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
It's a motherfucking list--it don't need no sourcing. It don't need nothing! Drmies (talk) 01:43, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
You tell him. Notability is inherited from the other articles anyway. Dennis Brown - © 01:44, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
I smell a featured list in the works. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:51, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Those last two comments from Dennis and K - y'all know how to make a Lady laugh. I have to agree with the throwing star metaphor too... no barnstars here, just very pointy throwing stars. LadyofShalott 01:55, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Maybe we need a throwing star barn star, for pointy humor. Drmies has successfully earned the first one, that is certain. Dennis Brown - © 02:04, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

←Much improved as a sortable list, now only need the year of registration. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:59, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

(Re:don't need nothing) Hmm...you may be onto something there (and one for the road), but this really is such a great chance to put our highly intelligent, coherent, civil talk page discussions in the mainspace--I don't know how you can turn that down... Nolelover Talk·Contribs 02:02, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Back to Twitter

This just in: the future of WP. Drmies (talk) 01:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

  • Dr. Blofeld (whom I described as "utterly brilliant" in the AFD) has devised an evil excellent solution, to which this new article may become the only Foo on Twitter type article, assuming all end up merged. What I find most delicious about this is the fact that this means the ONLY article on Wikipedia that will cover Celebrities on Twitter, will have the distinction of being originally created by Drmies. I'm literally laughing myself to tears over the irony of this. Dennis Brown - © 21:27, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, JJ. I'll take a look at this. LadyofShalott 22:44, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
OK, the contents sound fine. I didn't look at the earlier versions, but what you have now does not sound like an ad to me, and I'll remove that tag momentarily. Now, what you need to do before moving it to mainspace is take that long list of references (which I have not tried to evaluate) at the end, and cite them properly. Add footnotes to the article showing where each piece of information came from, and don't just use the URLS. LadyofShalott 02:28, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Sapulpa Daily Herald

Hi LadyofShalott; thanks for following up and cleaning out the Herald article. I was just delighted by the publisher's statement, which exemplifies a certain kind of small town--how does one put it--ambiance. Yet another state I'll be flying over, as opposed to driving through. 99.153.142.225 (talk) 16:50, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that was interesting. I'd call it provincialism, but I think that would be generous in a couple of different ways. LadyofShalott 01:27, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

998

Seeing as I've seen you mention it at Drmies's talk page recently ... Congrats on breaking into the top 1000! I hope you're enjoying the high life while I wallow away in lowly 1011. Jenks24 (talk) 07:37, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

  • Well, not laying around, but....
  • Hey, thanks for the news, Jenks! Thank you both for the congrats. I know edit count is by no means the end all and be all here, but this does feel like a milestone. Mandarax, thank you for the barnstar! LadyofShalott 02:04, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Ah, interesting! For some reason, the M picture decided not to load for me tomight, but I'll get a look at it tomorrow. I wonder which of Waterhouse's renderings of The Lady of Shalott is in the same museum. All three of the paintings on my userpage are Waterhouse interpretations of that character. I think they are all that he did, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong on that accord. LadyofShalott 03:16, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Oh, without the "M" context, you must've wondered why I used Roman numerals in the text of the barnstar....

D'oh! As I implied in one of my edit summaries for this page, I can't seem to get anything right today. I was thinking of the first image on your page, which is the earliest (1888). The third one, which is actually the middle one chronologically (1894), is the one in the Leeds museum. The museum's site singles out the Tissot and the Waterhouse as being especially notable. The Elite 1000 Barnstar

The Elite 1000 Barnstar
Congratulations on achieving the rank of CMXCVIII! (Can we shortcut that to "IIM"?) Your countless contributions to Wikipedia are highly esteemed! (Yes, I know this all about counting contributions; I didn't mean literally countless....) MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 23:23, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I try to make my barnstars as artistic (or at least distinctive) as possible. As for your request, I'm afraid I would take it quite literally. I would set up a Twitter account, then I'd tweet that I'd set up the account, then I'd have to tweet that I'd just tweeted, ad infinitum. My life would grind to a halt. Then there might be media coverage about someone crippled by Twitter, and Mandarax on Twitter would be born. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 20:27, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
This is all Greek to me. Ahem.

"MCMXCVIII" is 1998 (I think), but I have no idea how "CMXCVIII" works out. "IIM" also appears to be 1998, so I figure that this must be an anniversary because it clearly is not number of edits. Or is it ranking per WP:NOE? Jeez, as a puzzle it seems that you only know the answer if you are in the cabal. I'm not even sure which cabal applies! I guess that I could tweet, gain an article here as a consequence, and somewhere along the way solve the puzzle of whether the cabal is that of the Bieber twitterati or the Gaga ditto. - Sitush (talk) 23:27, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

IIM would be 998. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:43, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Yus, ah'm stoopid. And "CMXCVIII" is also 998. I've added an "M". I am useless, absolutely useless. It does indeed refer to WP:NOE. I am something like 400-odd, if anyone cares to do the translation. Mind, most of my edits have been of somewhat less import that those of LoS. - Sitush (talk) 00:39, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Clean Start

Despite those 3 e-mails I got, I won't say who from, I have decided not to cleanstart. It is not worth it just to become an admin. I don't want to work in completely different fields, and for all I care, I just want to keep doing what I do now and I will have to accept the fact I can never be an admin/I don't have the skills to be one.--Deathlaser :  Chat  15:00, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm glad you are not doing a cleanstart. As for the admin thing, put it out of your mind for now. Maybe someday you can be one. At this point, you are nowhere near ready. Just keep working on building the encyclopedia. If someday in a year or more, it seems right to look at adminship, think about it then. If not, that's fine too. LadyofShalott 15:20, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
So, what do I need for adminship.--Deathlaser :  Chat  17:10, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
Leave me a review to explain.--Deathlaser :  Chat  17:37, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
No. At this point, I think adminship is not something for you to be thinking about. Like I said, maybe in a year or so then start to think about it. Right now, just focus on being a good editor and learning policies/guidelines/good practices. (That's not saying you should never think about it, but not now.) LadyofShalott 20:53, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
I made 65 articles..how many more. Why don't you bullet-point what I am doing wrong.--Deathlaser :  Chat  16:58, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, you made your first edit two months ago, so in another year from now you would, if the averages stay the same, have created a total of 7 x 65 = 455 articles. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking, though.
Here's one bullet point;
  • Thinking too much about user rights and not enough about improving the encyclopedia.
To give you an example, I've been here nearly two years and I still don't have, need, or want, autopatrolled. It serves no useful purpose for me in any way. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:53, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Bullet point: What Demiurge said above. This is not a game to collect badges. It's a project to build and improve an encyclopedia. That's where your focus needs to be. LadyofShalott 05:49, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Further to the above, while I admit to doing some number-counting myself, numbers do not tell the whole story. You say "how many more?" To that I say that's not the right question. Nothing starting with "how many" would be the right question. LadyofShalott 05:52, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
  • @Demiurge - Autopatrolled isn't just about helping you, it's about helping people that do new page patrol, by reducing the number of unpatrolled pages NPPers have to manually mark as patrolled. --kelapstick(bainuu) 05:58, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Sure I can see that, I only questioned it because it seems illogical to me that someone would actively (well maybe not actively) not help other users on the project by requesting a flag that has no adverse effect on anything they do. Coming across unpatrolled pages by users that should have autoreviewer is rather bothersome for me these days, in particular because half the time I don't seem to be able to actually mark them as patrolled (it just isn't working on this computer for some reason), so every time I go through NPP, the same pages come up. I can understand not requesting flags that one doesn't feel they need (I have never felt the need for Rollback, so I never asked for it), but every qualified user that has autoreviewer helps a lot of people, and I think people qualify should request it. Note I am only this philanthropic when it has a positive effect for me, I am not usually one to take ideological positions like this.--kelapstick(bainuu) 06:58, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

This is an example of what NPP'ers don't like. url. Regards, Thine Antique Pen (talkcontributions) 11:21, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Your enjoyment of social network articles

What would you say to Rumor spread in social network (on Twitter). Honestly I have no idea what this is or where it came from. --kelapstick(bainuu) 07:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

It's OR. Actually, it sounds like the beginning of someone's research project - the setup, and the actual research hasn't been done yet. I've tagged it as OR. It's probably prod-worthy, and I may do just that. (By the way, what's being done here is quite possibly useful social research, to which I have no antipathy. I just think X on Twitter articles are crap.) LadyofShalott 13:37, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Second opinion

Hey, Lady, I saw that you're on CSD duty tonight, and I'd like to ask you to take a look at Heart pine, if you get a chance. It's pretty clearly entirely a copyright violation, but it uses a lot of (really) close paraphrasing, so I was a bit hesitant about G12ing it outright. Could you take a look at it and let me know what you think? Thanks! Writ Keeper 04:30, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I think you've done the right thing. It is indeed very problematic, but it's not one that I would personally G12 delete. What the folks who are the real copyright gurus will say (rework or dlete) I'm not sure. LadyofShalott 04:39, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

No rush at all, it will never be a GA , I just thought a small article was better than nothing eventually and simply grateful that you are willing to consider helping at any level. Being more a gnome, I'm not a great article creator, I know this. Print sources are a bit thin, the national media was covering them heavily during 9/11 cleanup on TV though, as being the only company capable of doing the job. Tough one, but if I don't create it, who will? Dennis Brown - © 14:03, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Question on deleting a sockpuppet created article.

Looks like a sockpuppet created Raphaël Hamburger. With the interaction the other day with Oliver about another Sock created article, it got me thinking. Shouldn't this be deleted without going thru an AfD? What is policy when it comes to things like this so I know what to do next time? Bgwhite (talk) 04:47, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Well, it depends. Is the sockmaster banned? Merely being a sockpuppet isn't enough for the article to be speedily deleted. If it's a sock of a banned editor though, it is, and the criterion is db-g5. I'm not familiar with the master in this case. (By contrast, when an editor is confirmed to be a sock of PoliticianTexas (see the long SPI archive), I G5-delete anything that the editor created and rollback any other edits.) Hope this helps, Bg. I need to go zonk out. LadyofShalott 04:52, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Ah, didn't know about the banned part. The sockmaster is banned. Boy, there are 35 different instances over the past 3 years.
My sister-in-law was in Cornelia for two weeks. She opens up stores for Chik-Fil-A. Did she see the big apple, Cabbage patch hospital in Cleveland, tourist trap of Helen, Anna Ruby Falls, Dahlonega or whatever the tallest mountain was called? Nope. She only went to the outlet mall. Grrr.
Ah, one of those! As for your sister-in-law, too bad. She could have had some fun and seen some pretty areas... I take it she didn't get down to Athens either? LadyofShalott 03:20, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

You still have work to do: see this correction for example. You are at least sometimes still calling a species a tribe. On the grammar front, something I didn't mention earlier because I was more focused on the content problem, is please say "species of beetle", not "species of beetles". General suggestion: before embarking on creating a group of stubs, get a couple other folks to look at your basic template - have maybe me, Anna, Dr. Blofeld, Demiurge - whichever experienced editors you'd like and who are available - to look at your basic template and see if the content, grammar, spelling, etc. all pass muster to make sure you don't inadvertently create a bunch of errors that will need to be fixed. I see where Univ of Georgia people make their money

Hmmmm, boy those University of Georgia employees must be hurting for money with all the cutbacks. We just won't mention my alma mater had a prof make the national news for surfing kiddie porn on a plane. Bgwhite (talk) 05:35, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, what an embarassment. I don't know what will happen, but I can't imagine this will do wonders for his academic career. As for what you mentioned about the prof at your alma mater... ewww. LadyofShalott 14:24, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Anything wrong with my most recent bunch od stubs

Well?--Deathlaser (talk) 13:02, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

You've forgotten the "Animals described in YEAR" categories. Otherwise they look ok. Do your sources include information about where these beetles live? Adding that would make your stubs much more useful. LadyofShalott 13:38, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Advice

Greetings LadyofShalott,

Hope you are well since we last spoke. I'm hoping that you may be able to assist me with something Wiki-related. As you may know, I'm currently a member of WikiProject Eurovision and have recently been involved in the resurrection of the project's newsletter, and nominated myself to produce the newsletter on a monthly basis. However, its current format looks very dull, and I've been trying to find help pages to assist me in giving it a spruce-up to grab people's attention and invite them to want to read more and learn more about the project itself. although, sadly, I've not been able to find any pages in my quest. Would you happen to know of any pages, that I could refer to? Thank you in advance. WesleyMouse 14:14, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Wesley, I don't know of any pages that are specifically what you seek. What I suggest is going through Category:Wikipedia news and looking at the various newsletters there. See if there's anything you like, and if so copy that code (giving proper attribution at least in the edit summary) and then change colors, images, etc. to suit your WikiProject. LadyofShalott 14:22, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Oh thank you, thank you ever so much for providing that link. There is quite a lot to look at, so much inspirational material there. Of course, I would give attribution to the project to which I gain inspiration from their style of newsletter. Again, thank you for helping me on this quest. WesleyMouse 14:28, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome! Happy writing, LadyofShalott 14:32, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

If you are any good

If u are any good at table making, turn the history section in my Mechanical pest control into a table.--Deathlaser (talk) 14:56, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Please don't spell "you" as "u": reserve that for your cell phone texting. Please don't tell me what to do: phrasing things as questions and using the word "please" helps a lot. All that being said, I am not good at making tables, sorry. LadyofShalott 15:03, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I'm not sure putting that in a table is the best way to do it. I think you should keep the prose, but write in complete sentences. LadyofShalott 15:06, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Permission to speak freely, please?--Deathlaser (talk) 16:34, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, go ahead. LadyofShalott 17:05, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Are you out of your mind?!#@*@#~#--Deathlaser (talk) 17:28, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so, but I have no idea why you even ask that. Is because I disagree with using a table? LadyofShalott 19:04, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Would WP:NPA apply in this case? Regards, TAP 19:32, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Sorry again?--Deathlaser (talk) 19:44, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

The words "Are you out of your mind?" spring to mind, eh? TAP 19:50, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

What can I say? You just really hate freedom of speech.--Deathlaser (talk) 20:16, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
I didn't criticize your remark; I'd given permission for you to speak freely. I do still request clarification on just what you meant though. LadyofShalott 20:22, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
I am talking about your list of demands on my talk page.Firstly, you decide to drop in and make more and more demands on my demands on my talk page, and when I fail to comply with them you start making threats like saying you will "get some-one else to speak to him." and that I "can't take friendly advice" and that I have "competences" issues. So what next, are you going to make block threats, or even actually block me and say that I need better competence or you will block again? Or are you going to hold blocking ceremonies and block incompetent people just to prove your point and restrict free speech some more!--Deathlaser (talk) 21:48, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Look, as far as I know, the only person who has ever talked about the possibility of your being blocked is you. I most certainly never have except to tell you that that wasn't in the works. Cut it out. LadyofShalott 22:42, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
And what free speech have I supposedly restricted? Can you provide diffs for all those alleged quotes too? I may have questioned competency at some point, but I'm pretty sure I never said you "can't take friendly advice". LadyofShalott 22:45, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi!

Thanks to help me to improve tha page "Christian Church in Italy". I have a problem with your request. The old Christian movement "Assemblies of God in Italy" has many references from independent authors and third-party publications, but the new movement, born last year after 40 years of association with the former movement, has obviously little references. The Christian Church in Italy has become now an independent movement joined with the other international movement although there are some differences that the article wants to underline. How can I improve it?

God bless you!

Maurizio Maurizio.morandi-1970 (talk) 19:39, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Maurizio. Well, that is a problem, because Wikipedia has a requirement, called notability, that articles need sources that are independent of the subject. If CCI has not yet been covered by media such as newspapers or academic journals, it is hard to justify the article here at all. You might post at the talk page of the Christianity project to see if anyone there can help locate sources. LadyofShalott 23:52, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, notability is the major reason why so many things are deleted.--Deathlaser (talk) 16:32, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

What do I do next

Concerning David Steen (photographer). I'm just seeking advise. Drmies went in a week ago and cleaned things up but was reverted. I don't think the editor will come to an understanding at this point. If you were me, what would you do next? Bgwhite (talk) 23:41, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

That's a bit of a mess. Since so much of it hinges upon whether or not that book is an appropriate source, I'd go to WP:RS/N to get some sort of consensus on that matter. LadyofShalott 01:32, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
The issues I see are in the tone in the early section (much of which is unsourced or poorly sourced), and the list of people he has taken pictures of. Is there a reason to include a list of everyone he has taken a picture of? Probably not, unless any of the pictures are significant. The main issue is a content dispute, not so much the sourcing dispute. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:40, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
No, I don't see any reason to include everyone he's ever photographed either. I guess I was thinking the sourcing thing might be a way around that, but maybe not. The other option that came to my mind is to start an RfC on the talk page. Maybe that would be better - it could deal simultaneously with the sourcing issue as the general editing issue. LadyofShalott 01:47, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
I don't see a problem with using the book as a source for the information, but I (like you) question the need for the information. The early life is a disaster though, I despise seeing paragraphs starting with "XXX recalls". Another fine example is Margo Timmins. I just don't have the patience to fix it.--kelapstick(bainuu) 01:52, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Drmies cleaned up most of the problems, including the early life disaster, but it was reversed. I have a feeling if I touch anything, including the disastrous amazon links. How do I go about changing anything? I've never gone to RS/N, but I will because I'm interested about the ref, not only for now, but later. I saw Kealpstick make a comment on the talk page, should I still add a RfC? Bgwhite (talk) 04:32, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Here is the RS/N conversation.
I proposed on the talk page that the last version by Drmies be the one that is kept as it wasn't edited by any involved parties. Bgwhite (talk) 06:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict)(talk page stalker) Not if other editors have contributed substantially to the article, as is the case with at least Asimina incana. And not if the nomination is in bad faith. Possible apparent threat, see above editor's post to their talk page. Wikilink seen in that edit diff consists of repeated images of a cannon (careful, page is 556,966 bytes long & might crash your browser) and is titled 'revenge'.Shearonink (talk) 17:15, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Shalott, you might wanna keep an eye on this editor. They seem like the kind who is interested in treating various Wiki-tasks as achievements to be unlocked, rather than a collaborative project. Asking for a G7 because you "want to" is borderline disruption. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 17:25, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

That's now gone, as you've noticed. Yeah, I'm watching. LadyofShalott 17:29, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, comments like this make it patently obvious he ain't here for seriousness. "every-one thinks I am traitor!" suggests that he's trolling and he knows it. Between that and the Grawp-esque subpage, I think we may have enough reason to block. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 17:30, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Feel free to go to ANI or another admin if you think it needs it. I can not give my full attention to WP right now. LadyofShalott 17:32, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

It was not a threat, No, I was just testing the maximum amount of data a page could hold. It was a simple experiment! What happened to assume good faith!--Deathlasersonline (talk) 17:34, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, I am really sorry if you took it the wrong way!--Deathlasersonline (talk) 17:34, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
No ANI please!--Deathlasersonline (talk) 17:36, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Cheers for the reply. Can you run me through an example of how to cite it. i.e. "John Smith was born 1234" and how to link that sentence to the list of references at the bottom?

--jjakaalbinoboy 15:04, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Hey, the best thing to do is look at WP:CITE. Grab the relevant citation templates and just fill in the information you have for your references. Then let me know if you have specific followup questions. Different references will be cited somewhat differently, so your general question is best answered by that page I linked. LadyofShalott 13:34, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm working on it now. A bit unsure on the format of web link citations though. Also, can you tell me how to add the company logo to the profile section? --jjakaalbinoboy 15:03, 25 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjakaalbinoboy (talkcontribs)
Do the best you can with the citations, and I'll check them out later. As for the logo, don't worry about that until the article is ready for mainspace; a logo is going to be fairuse, and you are not allowed to have fairuse images in your userspace. That can be added later. LadyofShalott 15:29, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

OK cool, well I've done as much as I can on the citations so feel free to check it out. Ah OK cool no problem I wasn't sure how to add a logo. --jjakaalbinoboy | Talk 09:06, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Userpage update/correction

Hi Ladyofshalott :) hope you're doing good! I just need a small help from you regarding my user page (User:TheGeneralUser). The thing is that the templates and user boxes which i have added on it are not coming in order and needs to be updated and corrected. Some templates are overlapping on each other and i can't figure out why. They should generally be shown different from each other as i have added them in a chronological order but some have just mixed up despite when i do not have any complicated designs on my User page. I must say you have a very beautiful user page :) and are experienced on how to correct things. Therefore my friend i kindly request you if you could help me and correct my user page . Hi General! I see the problem you have, but I am not any kind of guru of fixing these sorts of layout issues. I'm going to see if I can get someone else to take a look at your page. LadyofShalott 22:15, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi LadyofShalott :) thanks a lot for quickly getting Mandarax and Torchiest for helping me fix my user page! I truly appreciate your kind help you did for me :). Regards and Happy Editing! TheGeneralUser (talk) 10:25, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

A favor...

Hi Lady, could you please do me a favor? A user submitted a DYK. They had erroneously moved a sandbox to Wikipedia:Michele Bachman Immigration View. What I think happened is that someone moved the WP page (perhaps userfying it?), leaving behind a redirect. The moved page got deleted, then the redirect got deleted as a redirect to a deleted or nonexistent page. Whew! This is complicated. Would you please check to see if that redlink was ever an actual article, and not just essentially the same as User:Shampa R/sandbox/Bachman Immigration? Thanks! MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 23:53, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Well that's confusing! Anyway, all that can be seen in the deleted history of that redlink are redirects. I think any actual draft history must have been moved successfully with the article, or else be in the sandbox history. LadyofShalott 00:08, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for checking! I just didn't want a new user's article to have accidentally gotten lost in the shuffle, but it looks as though they never had a real article. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 00:20, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Your signature using obsolete code

FYI... the font tag in your signature has been depreciated for awhile. There's talk of an update coming down the pipeline that will remove the font tag altogether. Best if you start to <div> or <span> your signature.... <span style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12pt;color: red"> produces This Bgwhite (talk) 07:24, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Huh. Thanks for letting me know. But, why? What's the advantage? LadyofShalott 13:27, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
The <font /> tag was deprecated in HTML 4.01, and there is no guarantee that future browsers or browser versions will support it. Since the tag gets SUBSTed in when used in your signature, if a future browser doesn't support the tag then it will fail (hopefully gracefully). Moving to the CSS based tags suggested above will prevent future issues. --Tgeairn (talk) 15:34, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Ah. Thanks for the explanation. I still don't get why that change was made (though I now understand it wasn't a WP decision). It requires longer coding for the same result. With a sig. like mine - already fairly large - this is an annoyance. 18:54, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Saw your question on Mandarax's page before this one and answered it there. His talk page came first on my watchlist. I said the same thing Tgeairn mentioned, plus the reason why they used the longer code rather than just the font tag. Bgwhite (talk) 20:51, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Collection

Do you think a collection of gay people similar to this is a good idea? Pass a Method talk 17:11, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Not really - I'm not all that fond of any of those collage-type images. I'd bring it up at WT:LGBT though for more discussion. LadyofShalott 18:56, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
