GNIS in infobox settlement

[edit]

Hello,

I noticed you removed |GNIS_id= from many articles with the edit summary "fixed unknown parameters". If you look at the documentation for the template, you will see that the GNIS id should remain in the infobox. It is a common parameter for US settlements. The info should be put in different parameters, not removed. The documentation says to used |blank1_name=GNIS feature ID and |blank1_info =the actual ID. Please revert your edits so this change can be made differently per the documentation. MB 01:11, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MB:Fixed all the articles where I removed |GNIS_id=.--Lam-ang (talk) 04:34, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks for taking care of this. I noticed you didn't use {{GNIS4}} to specify the ID. Doing so creates a link to the GNIS database (as shown in the documentation). That would be a further improvement. If you don't do that, I will probably do it at some point. MB 04:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do them on my next round.--Lam-ang (talk) 04:52, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
