Voice of the Turtle

Hey, thanks for your help removing the speedy delete. Really appreciate it. The link to the criteria for music groups is helpful too. They have eight albums. There's more third-party press coverage I can include. Will work on it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Asbruckman (talkcontribs) 11:48, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

I have added a bit more to Voice of the Turtle, and put a note on the talk page about how I think it arguably meets three of the notability criteria now. What do you think? Would it be possible to untag it? Thanks so much for your help! Asbruckman (talk) 02:43, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

The Human Factor

Hello, you declined the speedy deletion of The Human Factor (2009 film). Can you please identify what the key differences were before the original article and this recreated article? From what I can tell, the AFD led to deletion of the article because it did not satisfy the notability guidelines for films. This was because it had not begun filming, and this article does not show that it has. A quick look off-wiki shows that it is still not in production. Can you please let me know if there was a difference that I missed? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:56, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to take a minute to let you know that I appreciate your support in my recently-closed RfA, which passed with a count of 56 in support, 7 in opposition, and 2 neutrals. I was always of the impression that was used for non-english articles in general.

Granted, the wording of the SD tag doesn't seem to be 'correct' (I have noted that), but in general, most foreign-language articles seem to get speedied. HalfShadow 06:36, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

That's fine. I'm only following procedure as I see it; I'll tag them with {{notenglish}} from here on, though the article creator really should know better. HalfShadow 06:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

The thorny question of Arrica Rose

Hello! I was a bit surprised that you declined my Speedy Delete tag on Arrica Rose by stating "speedy declined, not a valid A7, notability asserted through "charting on iTunes" and being featured in publications and TV shows." I should point out that I always double check whenever I am in doubt on a subject, and a Google search on Ms. Rose failed to pull up anything that could back up the article's fairly grand assertions. In any event, the article was put up for AfD. Hope all is well. Ecoleetage (talk) 14:13, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi again. I guess we have to agree to disagree on that one. As I read the article -- with its redlinked "2nd release" (no mention of a first release), insistence of iTunes chart topping (with no record label backing her up?), claims of media coverage (sans the actual links to the coverage) and assertion of having a song sampled on a U.S. TV show (which seems highly unlikely for a label-less performer) -- I felt there was no reasonable indication of why Ms. Rose might be notable. Ironically, the article's author blanked the page after the A7 tag was placed, which suggests a bit of "uh oh, the gig is up" (another editor restored the text before you came in). In any event, it will probably be toasted on AfD by the beginning of next week, so we'll one less silly article online later rather than sooner. I hope all is well in your sphere of influence. G'day Wikimedian :-)

Whilst it's quite likely you'll have heard this news on the grapevine, in your email inbox, or even in person - I thought that it was sufficiently exciting to warrant giving each of you a 'new messages' orange bar! This particular orange bar has been brought to you to let you know that Wikimedia Australia is now open for members!

I'm not on the committee or anything, and that's where the credit is due in getting everything to this point, but I think it would be absolutely fantastic for folks who wish to support the australian wiki community, to go ahead and sign up - we're quite likely to be the world's fatest growing chapter at the moment! Join Us :-)

Here's a little more about membership, and the mailing list in particular is well worth signing up to as well, and is a good forum to get answers to any questions answered, or to share any ideas. I've dropped these notes in under my own steam, and you've received one because you're on this list - feel free to ask me any questions, or anything - I can certainly point you in the right direction :-) cheers all, Privatemusings (talk) 04:05, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the fact that she only came third, this is true (for the moment, although the count isn't finished yet). Restoration of blasphemy

While restoration of such blasphemic screeds may not be considered a wholly admirable pursuit in and of itself, I nonetheless am compelled to thank you for your quick response. I must confess some slight disappointment as to the nature of the content - I was hoping for something even slightly creative, instead it seems like a typical new user getting confused with the subtle differences twixt User: and User Talk:. I am also inclined to disagree with you vis-a-vis hanging - I feel that being drawn and quartered would be a far more suitable consequence for transgressions of this vile nature. I'm open to debate, of course and pretty much agree with your 10:16 AN/I summary. I remain, the red-linked, Badger Drink (talk) 10:30, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

ArbCom questions

Hi. I'm Ral315, editor of the Wikipedia Signpost. We're interviewing all ArbCom candidates for an article this week, and your response is requested.

  1. What positions do you hold (adminship, mediation, etc.), on this or other wikis?
  2. Have you been involved in any arbitration cases? In what capacity?
  3. Why are you running for the Arbitration Committee?
  4. How do you feel the Arbitration Committee has handled cases and other situations over the last year? Can you provide an examples of situations where you feel the Committee handled a situation exceptionally well, and why? Any you feel they handled poorly, and why?
  5. What is your opinion on confidentiality? If evidence is submitted privately to the Committee, would you share it with other parties in the case? Would you make a decision based on confidential information without making it public?
  6. Why do you think users should vote for you?

Please respond on my talk page. We'll probably go to press on Tuesday, but late responses will be added as they're submitted. Thanks, Ral315 (talk) 10:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Peterson Power Systems

Hi Lankiveil,

I spent quite a bit of time writing a Wiki Page for Peterson Power System and you deleted it. The reason given was blatant advertising. I do not agree with this conclusion and spent time revising it over and over to remove anything that might not be considered NPOV. Can you please tell me specifically what part of the document was not factual in nature and is considered Advertising so that I can make more changes to this document if needed and submit it again. Huntingdon, West Virginia

Question: how is summarizing the content that follows without using pejoratives, considered vandalizing? I write in regards to the Huntington problem with health, which is noteworthy? "People in Hunnington tend to be overweight, uneducated, and toothless, as compared against the overall US population." ?

Perhaps you are a citizen of this region, and do not have perspective to deal with a hard truth.

I would seem you are advocating for a nonfactual fluffy interpretation of a statistically factual statement?

just wondering.24.2.83.36 (talk) 23:04, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Read "tend to be, as compared to the us population as a whole". Sheesh, people from backwaters can be so temperamental as regards their obvious flaws. Of course, I would not presume to engage in some pointless wikiwar with someone so obviously biased. Our best guess is that you have family members with most of the above self inflicted handicaps. Confidentiality

I did read your comparison to the Star Chamber - the reason for my oppose vote is that I have a tighter definition of what a 'secret trial' is. Essentially I believe that if evidence is of a nature that prevents it from being disclosed to the person it is being used against, then arbcom must not use it. I noticed your comments on the recent child images issue - and I also noticed your candidature in the arbcom elections - both things we have in common, though our wiki paths have never crossed to my knowledge. It's nice to 'meet' you :-)

I'm dropping in here because you seem to be advocating a position which says that some sort of discussion might be a good idea, and I totally agree! I've been working on a proposal at Wikipedia:Sexual content which was intended to begin and promote a discussion in a related area, though for various reasons have found it pretty hard going. My work is currently very strongly rejected, and some editors feel that my continued involvement is in danger of becoming disruptive. Your input on the proposal, and on my management of the dynamic would be hugely appreciated... thanks :-) Privatemusings (talk) 03:15, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Karen Barth Menzies‎

Greetings...could you explain why CSD G12 was removed for Karen Barth Menzies? Seems clear to me that the article was taken, virtually verbatim, from the web page I referenced in the speedy request. What did I miss? Thanks. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 08:22, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I see what you're getting at, but if you look at the list of publications on the site I referred to in the CSD request, that too was copied verbatim (or close enough). I do believe you should've speedied the article based on that. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 08:28, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Cyclonenim's coaching

It's good to be co-coaching with you! Before we really get into the swing of things, I'd like to discuss a few things with you. First of all, I'd like to talk about my coaching background and where I would like to go with Cyclonenim.

When I myself was coached (by Bibliomaniac15--the same as you I believe), I was asked series of questions dealing with policies, Wikiphilosophy, and different situations. Therefore, when I became an admin coach myself, my coaching system was comprised of a long bunch of question and answer segments. These build the coachee's knowledge of policy and teach them how to robotically deal with situations, but they do not really teach the coachee to think like an admin. I've modified my coaching strategy to try to take this into account, but I do not think that a structured coaching regimen is the answer. I've spoken to Balloonman about this and I've begun to incorporate a system he calls "footprints" into my coaching. This is where the coachee picks a few areas they would like to go into and the coach helps them to develop them in the areas. This is what I'm trying to do with Cyclonenim.

The reason why I haven't employed my normal coaching system when working with Cyclonenim is I believe he knows policy fairly well. There is not much I can teach him in that area. Instead, I need to help teach him to edit with high-quality and to learn the applications of policy. He has chosen the deletion area as his footprint, so I've been reviewing his work in that area and providing comments and advice.

What I want to do with Cyclonenim is continue to develop his skills in the deletion area (in several of the WP:XFDs and maybe WP:CSD, though your comment about his lack of interest in the area may change this), and perhaps expand to another area. I'm going to try to do several extensive reviews a month to keep him up to scratch and maybe have a few discussions with him about touchy areas of the deletion policy. What are your thoughts on the subject? Malinaccier (talk) 04:13, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea for you to concentrate on CSD and leaving me to work with him on XfD. Of course I will still value any comments you have for him in XfD, because it is always good to have a third viewpoint on most matters. I think you're right that he could use some drilling in the A7 area. I look forward to working with you! Malinaccier (talk) 16:53, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation on why you came to the delete conclusion - most of the other decisions in this AFL Draft batch have been single line "the result is ...". Whilst I thought the article on him and Bennell might just be enough, I wasn't confident. If I could userfy the article (and Jamie Bennell's) it will make recreation easier iff he gets more significant coverage (and not just in the Bunbury Mail or about him turning up for training) or plays a senior game. Thanks The-Pope (talk) 11:00, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for doing that. And don't worry, I'll wait until they get the significant, independent, secondary source coverage that is required before recreating. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 11:13, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Would you userfy the deleted page for me? I'm not sure I'll be able to do much with it in the short term, but I'd like to preserve it. Its a shame that it can't be in mainspace so all editors can improve it, but such is the reality when you deal with near-sighted deletionists. Thanks! Jheiv (talk) 23:17, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Australia newsletter,December 2008

WikiProject Australia newsletter Issue 2, Volume 1December 16, 2008

Welcome! WikiProject Australia is a WikiProject, which aims to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Australia and Australia-related topics. This newsletter exists simply to notify Australian Wikipedians of ongoing events within the project and relating to Australia on Wikipedia.

200 GA Drive

Last year, an informal pact/commitment was made late in the year to aim for 100 good articles by the end of the year. As a result, a net increase of 24 GAs was achieved in December 2007 and the GA count hit triple figures, ending the year on 106 GAs. This year seasonally adjusted, the GA production has been slower than in last during the May-November periods (see graphs below). At the start of the month, our WikiProject had 178 good articles. Another GA Drive has been organised, with the hope of reaching the double century by the end of the year or Australia Day 2009 at the least. As of 16 December, there are 180 GAs and 15 currently nominated, primarily in response to the GA appeal. Everyone's help is requested to make the drive a success.

2008 Summer Olympics photo drive

Following the 2008 Summer Olympics, some Australian Wikipedians attended the various welcome home parades for the athletes, with one objective being to help create free images of the athletes. Previously, less than ten had photos. However, there are now over 100 athletes that do have photos, but unfortunately in some cases, they have not yet been identified. Help is requested for this purpose at the link above.

Wikimedia Australia

After much hard work in slogging through paperwork and government regulations, Wikimedia Australia was incorporated on 6 August, and membership was opened on 12 November. Its stated purpose is to be "an independent, not-for-profit organisation, whose primary aim is to promote equality of opportunity to access and participate in the collaborative creation of Free Cultural Works, especially educational works, and works about Australia, its culture, natural environment, and Australian news and media". It will be developing a joint publication with Creative Commons Australia, and members are in the process of spreading the Wikipedia message, with Wikipedia being introduced into the curriculum in some courses in Australia next year. The first AGM is planned for 11 January 2009.

Casliber

Well known Australian Wikipedian and polyglot FA writer Casliber, known for his writings on Australian wildlife among other things, has placed first in this year's arbitration election and appears certain to be appointed.

Quality watch

Mattinbgn is rather camera shy, so here is Harry Trott.

2008 saw a major feat for WikiProject Australia: 100 articles were promoted to featured article status. This is huge not only for the project's individual members and those who helped achieved such an impressive statistic, but for all of Wikipedia. Everyone involved has given readers from all around the world a chance to learn about Australia and relevant topics online from the best of sources. Congratulations to Mattinbgn, who wrote the 100th FA, Harry Trott. Also of note was the promotion of national icon Sir Donald Bradman, which then appeared as the main page FA on his 100th birthday. WikiProject Australia's maiden featured topics arrived early in the year, with Dream Days at the Hotel Existence and Powderfinger albums, both about the band Powderfinger. New South Wales and Music of Australia became featured portals. A further 13 featured lists have been produced.

End of November 2008 statistics

Here are some statistics for WikiProject Australia in terms of 2008's good article and featured article promotions. Summing it up: 116 featured articles, and 178 good articles. So far this year, a net 36 FAs and 72 GAs have been added. The areas of FA growth were cricket (+12), military history (+7), swimming (+5), Powderfinger (+4), birds (+4), Silverchair (+2), Holden (+1), Wiggles (+1). These areas have been traditional strengths of the project, and this year, Abraham, B.S. has started another strong tradition, with a series of articles on Australian Victoria Cross awardees (1FA, 8GA). It would be great to see a wider range of Australian topics represented at FA in future. Two FAs were sent to Featured article review, but Bilby was instrumental in renovating and saving both Shrine of Remembrance and Waterfall Gully, South Australia.

AfD nomination of Hemant Punoo

I have nominated Hemant Punoo, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hemant Punoo. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. RE: User:Standforder report on AIV

I've always thought of AN/I as a bit.. final, if you will; normally when users get sent there they don't come back again. That being said I've just about exhausted my daily ration of Assume Good Faith (no, standforder, freedom of religion is not one of wikipedia's content policies, and so on) but I'll leave it for now. He seems to have a knack for insulting people and making things worse with every apology (although at least that shows he recognises he has done something wrong). Ironholds (talk) 12:27, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

This is a courtesy notice as you were involved in AFD, DRV or CSD's regarding various Matt Lee articles you may want to comment on the new DRV. Also, if you haven't already, you may also want to check out Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#Redirect question and "Need history check for Matt Lee" ANI thread. Thanks. GAP

sir, what was wrong with my edit and who are you to remove my edits when they are perfectly valid and not inflammatory. I might conjecture that you were offended by my use of "Gay and Proud" in my edit, which is in fact the NAME OF THE SOCIETY. if you are uncomfortable with my choice of words, or if my edit was automatically flagged, then I ponder what your comfort is with your own sexuality. cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.48.72.148 (talk) 06:44, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

ANI and Ibaranoff24

I am getting very sick of edit warring with this user on my talk page. He has removed another editor's comments over and over and over and over. Will you fully protect my talk page for two days? If I can't even manage it myself I'd rather no one did. The harassment is getting very old. Landon1980 (talk) 14:20, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Also, Prophaniti has to be getting sick of the personal attacks from user Ibaranoff. Prophaniti stopped editing the article days ago, but Ibaranoff refuses to leave him alone. He's now telling Prophaniti he is disruptive, needs a mirror, etc. Landon1980 (talk) 14:36, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok now he is calling me a liar, not just Prophaniti. What exactly I am lying about I have no idea. Landon1980 (talk) 15:00, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
  • I never "harassed" Landon, Prophaniti, or any other editor. I have only tried to improve articles to Wikipedia's standards and attempt to keep a certain level of quality. Whether intentional or not, Landon and Prophaniti have been lowering the standards of the articles they've been editing. (Ibaranoff24 (talk) 15:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC))

Thank you for your participation in my recent RfA, which failed with 90/38/3; whether you supported, opposed or remained neutral.

Special thanks go out to Moreschi, Dougweller and Frank for nominating me, and I will try to take everyone's comments on board.

Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better.

"This article building stuff is hard!"
Why the hell did I nominate you for adminship? Common sense? Bah! :P
I've been struggling through Strange Bird (but noticed yesterday that OK Computer was near FA and that the guy I had helped out on it had stopped editing for now, so I may end up giving it a finishing nudge) but will take a peak as I can. Giggy (talk) 00:10, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I also got a hold of Rotten Apples. Much as it pains me to say it, I like your favourite band more than you like mine. Giggy (talk) 00:10, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello again Lankiveil. I know converting references will take quite some time (I tried, and gave up). There is a tool that converts references to use cite templates, but I really can't remember the name of it. I'm pretty sure User:Gary King uses it, and you might want to ask him for favor. DiverseMentality 21:30, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

You may not remember, but we had a discussion in August about whether good old Barnaby should be listed as "National" or "LNP" in the infobox. We agreed to leave both in until the situation had clarified. Would you agree that it now seems to have been settled: that he remains a National at federal level? Frickeg (talk) 02:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Gah - they always have to complicate things! I for one am looking forward to the next Queensland election, which hopefully will result in this inelegant amalgamation falling apart again, solving all these problems. Frickeg (talk) 01:56, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey Lankiveil. I marked Monga as a test because I did a brief Google search and couldn't find evidence of it existing as a term, so I thought perhaps someone had made an article with their last name and then pasted random text into the content area. I did a longer search just now and actually did find a couple things, but the article is very unclear as to the context - I'll try and clean it up now. FlyingToaster 15:43, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

thank you

My RFA passed today at 150/48/6. I wanted to thank you for weighing in on the RFA--I will do everything I can to uphold the policies of this site, and try to make it a better place. RfA thanks

Thank you for the trust you placed in me by supporting my RfA (which passed and, apparently, I am now an admin!). (At least if I recall correctly Facebook says you do. And that's good enough for me.)

... and therefore it is your responsibility (responsibility I say!) to take a quick look at OK Computer when you get the chance and tell me if there's anything massively wrong with it.

Hi Lankiveil, how are you?

My name is Roey and today you deleted a posted article of mine, about a company named "Blossom eLearning"

I really don't understand your reasons, cause there are lots of articles here on wikipedia that "talks" about software companies big and small, such as: Microsoft Google 2d boy axialis and so many others.

in fact, i even took a template from another article on another company and changed it to fit this company.

so, what makes "Blossom eLearning" less compatible to Wiki?

Waiting for you reply.

thanks in advance, Roey —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roeycohen (talkcontribs) 17:47, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: reusing Wikipedia content

Essentially all you have to do is follow the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. Basically, whatever you take from Wikipedia (verbatim or modified) must be in turn licensed under the GFDL (you can specify that only what you took from Wikipedia is under the GFDL, just be careful, the GFDL is non-revocable), and you must attribute the author (Wikipedia). See Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content#Modified Versions. Just a simple backlink using the <a> tag to the version of the article you used and the words "From [article name] on Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia" should do, it's not like the Wikimedia Foundation will hunt you down because you didn't attribute correctly ;) Calvin 1998 (t·c) 06:42, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Herman J. Mankiewicz

Can you peek at Herman J. Mankiewicz. The other editor keeps inserting that his parents emmigrated from Poland, which is incorrect, and he keeps reverting back to a version with his personal unsourced essay as the lede. All sources says that his father was born in Berlin, and his father emigrated from Germany, not Poland. He is is on his forth or fifth reversion. At this point it is vandalism to keep adding incorrect information to the article and removing sourced information. I warned his user page for a 3rr. He has deleted over 6 references that I added to the article. You can toggle between his and my versions.

--Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 08:45, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Would you consider reverting back to my version. He removed over half a dozen references, as well as added the material on Poland that you marked. He can add back his personal essay again. I just don't want to lose the carefully researched information. He reversed over a dozen edits so he could readd his essay, please look at my last edit and his reversion. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 09:41, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm trying to understand what I got wrong with this A7, which you declined. Having looked for information online about the group and having found nothing more momentous than things like these I'm wondering if the mere assertion of playing a venue like an event that is really not much more than a regional festival (at best) would qualify as a valid claim of notability? As far as I understand, for a band to make a claim to notability it has to be related to something that would be valid under WP:MUSIC, WP:CREATIVE or WP:BIO or one of the other sets of guidelines for inclusion. §FreeRangeFrog 16:43, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

And just to clarify here, because it might seem otherwise, I'm not being combative or trying to demand restoration of the tag or anything like that, just trying to understand if that specifically is a valid claim of notability so I can take it into account for future CSDs. Thanks. §FreeRangeFrog 16:46, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I understand, I suppose I see your point as far as the claim goes - regardless of the validity it's still an assertion of notability, and that's an important consideration for CSD. Thanks for your reply. §FreeRangeFrog 16:08, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

The reason I tagged it for speedy is because in the afd here wever definitely comfirmed that it is a hoax so therefore unnotable which is course for CSD A7. §hawnpoo 15:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

JustSomeRandomGuy32

Hi, I saw you blocked JustSomeRandomGuy32 (talk · contribs) for breaking the 3RR and just wanted to point out that, though he probably was unaware of it, what he was reverting contained a lot of copyvio from various news articles on arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com - which is an exception to 3RR. While it's pretty obvious JSR32 really needs a reminder of 3RR, maybe - in light of what he was reverting - a short block (since no block at all seems a little to kind) is in order? Just wanted to throw that out there. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 02:09, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing, two examples are "Miguel Montero and Mark Reynolds each had two hits for the visitors. Justin Upton and Brandon Watson each went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Rusty Ryal, who reached on an error in the seventh, scored on Watson's RBI single. Watson then scored on Evan Frey's ensuing RBI single for the game's deciding runs. In the ninth, Frey drove in James Skelton for some insurance" and "Starter Dan Haren, who had given up just one hit in his previous two starts, yielded seven hits and four runs in two innings". You'll find more exampled by Google-ing single sentences. --aktsu (t / c) 02:34, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Richard Bachman deletion

How does Richard Bachman not meet wikipedia standards when Tim Tebow, does? Tim has not played in the NFL, yet he has a fully dedicated page; in college, or what you might say is the juniors.keystoneridin! (talk) 05:28, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

My apologies

I am sorry for sending an offensive message, I apologize. I just do not think that a player such as Tim Tebow, regardless of his media coverage makes him notable; after all he is not pro. There are football players who never received high notability, yet have a large page on here, see Major Applewhite. I do realize this person is a coach now, but his football credits are almost irrelivant.keystoneridin! (talk) 06:23, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Long Tail Magic

I noticed that you marked Long Tail Magic for deletion as you feel it is not notable. It is a conversion tracking tool and has a good standing in the internet marketing / affiliate marketing industry, since this product is specifically for this industry. I would like to know what could I add to the page to stop getting deletion flags. Thanks in advance for your help in helping me add this resource to Wikipedia.

As per your note on the page being an advertisement, I can remove information that gives buying or trying details, but the rest is the functionality and usability of the product to specifically tell them what it is capable of doing for them. Without these details, I would feel the article would not be educative. I look forward to hearing from you. Blokhra (talk) 16:43, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

As you have been involved with the first editor before, i thought i'd ask for your comment on this latest edit war that came to attention here. As i understand it, Gjr_rodriguez has been adding templates and catagories to multiple articles which JustSomeRandomGuy32 has reverted resulting in an edit war and incivil comments/personal attacks by Gjr_rodriguez. Is the 1RR imposed on User:JustSomeRandomGuy32 still active? As there seem to have been multiple in the past day [3][4][5][6]. --neon white talk 06:38, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your input. Can you just clarify which editor's talk page did you post to? I agree with the 'æsthetic reasons' but obviously both editors don't seem to agree and i think think the use of discussion and dispute resolution over edit warring needs to be emphasised. Not being an admin, i cant personally issue a block, it would probably have to go to the edit war board unless someone is around at WP:WQA. Hopefully it can be resolved without the need for that. --neon white talk 06:58, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, i'll let the WQA handle the other editors civility issues. --neon white talk 05:51, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Category:Members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly

Well then the text is wrong and needs to be changed. Unless you think there are 139 members in the current parliament? These categories are all encompassing. Go have a look at Category:Members of the Australian House of Representatives for instance. Digestible (talk) 22:11, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Digestible's correct on this one - the members categories are all past *and* present members. The equivalent WA category is the same, we even have people who've been dead for 100 years in ours :) Orderinchaos 18:44, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Hmm..

Seems there's some support for me running pretty soon, per this. Pending a review from Balloonman/I'm Spartacus!, would you be happy if I ran in the coming week or so? —Cyclonenim | Chat  00:01, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I'm pretty certain I'd like to run within the next few days per lots of support given for me to do so by editors I respect. Unless Spartacus' review comes back absurdly negative, I'd like to make my nomination pretty soon. Would you be willing to co-nom me alongside Malinaccier (and possibly one other user who has shown interest)? I'll email you this too. Thanks :) —Cyclonenim | Chat  20:20, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Would you care to create the nomination page this evening, and I'll answer compulsory questions when you've done that, sleep, and sign it off in the morning? I think that's probably the best way given the difference in our editing times, and it gives sufficient time for the other noms to do their statements, too. —Cyclonenim | Chat  21:42, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, you've been good coaches :) Regarding your email, I entirely understand, so don't worry about it. I'll transclude the nomination in a few hours when I get back (so I have time to answer further questions). —Cyclonenim | Chat  09:40, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Starting to get a horrible feeling this won't pass, unfortunately. Seems that discussion with ParaGreen13 wasn't as forgivable as I previously thought, despite me being transparent and mentioning it from the word go. My RFA passed today at 61/5/4. Thanks for participating in my RFA. I appreciate all the comments I received and will endeavor to justify the trust the WP community has placed in me. Have a nice day. :-) AdjustShift (talk) 21:31, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Happy Easter!

You know, at times we have gotten along and I really wish to rebuild that friendship and if that's not possible to at least not be enemies. So, anyway, I have decided to give the candidate and chance and on behalf of the Kindness campaign, I just wanted to wish my fellow Wikipedians a Happy Easter! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 07:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

My essay?

Hi - I was working on an essay about the old new pages in what I thought was a subpage of my userr page but it seems to have been deleted. Can you tell me why? Can you give me the text and links as far as I had gotten?

Figured out what you did - sorry for giving trouble, and thanks for cleaning up after a noobie. Alice (talk) 01:18, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
T== RfA ==

Hey Lankiveil :) Thought I'd let you know that I have withdrawn from my RfA per some very good concerns raised by Jc37 (talk · contribs) which have resulted in me not feeling ready at this time. It was also clear that the RfA wouldn't pass, without his concerns. Sorry I didn't give you prior notice of this withdrawal, it happened quite suddenly after I realised the extent of his concerns. Thanks, I hope you will continue to coach me under upcoming months, but feel free to decline. —Cyclonenim | Chat  12:09, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, if you could post it to the admin coaching page, that'd be great :) I think half of it was a semantic difference of opinion, but the rest I had significant issues with. Cheers! —Cyclonenim | Chat  21:11, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Lee Ousby

Good call, for more of the insanity, see my November talk archives. I'd love to know what's up with this guy and why he and his group are so hell bent on an article. StarM 11:39, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

oh no not this again indeed! I watchlist australia related discussions and when I saw "Lee Ousby" listed I thought 'can't be a coincidence'. Funny thing is - there's no off wiki chatter or anything that really explains this that I've seen, though I haven't looked much since fall StarM 00:45, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

AfterWorld

Can you please take a look at AfterWorld (again) - the user has moved it again into the main article space without submitting for review.     JCutter  talk to me }     00:28, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I saw you deleted it within 2 seconds but can you please at least migrate my latest version to my User space? I didn't save my changes. Epicahab (talk) 00:36, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for restoring my latest changes. I still think that some of you are being too harsh on me while others Restore my article and say it's fine. This is not just another game in development. Plus I noticed a user named Zwarky tried to help me and his/her changes were dismissed. This feels like an exclusive club that I'm not supposed to join. Maybe I should not try.Epicahab (talk) 00:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Tom Buchanan AFD

Since you closed the discussion about Tom Buchanan's AFD. It is probably redirected to Survivor: Africa, his first Survivor season. ApprenticeFan talk contribs 06:12, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Geodirectory

Not the entirety of the site it was copied from is reproduced in the article, certainly, but all sentences which appear in the article are present in the site. To break it down line by line:

  • article:Each property is assigned its own individual fingerprint – a unique, verified address in a standardised format, together with a precise Geocode.
  • source: It assigns each property its own individual fingerprint – a unique, verified address in a standardised format, together with a precise Geocode.
  • article:GeoDirectory has a distinct, verified address ID for more than 1.8 million properties within the Republic of Ireland. It provides an exact geographical location - a Geocode - for every building, and contains 193,000 individual business addresses. A quarterly update incorporates all changes, and provides details of new construction underway.
  • source:. It consists of:
  1. . A distinct, verified address ID for every property - 1.8 million in total
  2. . An exact geographical location - a geocode - for every building
  3. . 193,000 individual business addresses
  4. . A quarterly update which incorporates all changes
  5. . Details of new construction underway.
  • article:An Post has 5,600 delivery staff on the ground, and is therefore aware of every building in every village, town and city in the Republic of Ireland. Ordnance Survey Ireland has thoroughly mapped the Republic of Ireland over the past 150 years and has unmatched geographical expertise.

Potential AfD

I would like to nominate the article Life After Death for deletion (on the grounds of no notability) however the author will likely become combative since I voted against an [earlier] article that he authored, which led to some (fairly innocuous) vandalism on my user page. Can you please take a look at the article in question? Regards Hazir (talk) 01:58, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

My bad, I meant Life Before Death! Hazir (talk) 10:09, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of SMG/Sports Marketing Group

Don't know why you deleted this company. You may as well delete all research, sports marketing and promotional companies like IMG, ProServ and others that were instrumental in building a 250 billion industry in America. Just because a small group of neophytes don't like the content, doesn't mean many of us have no interest. Different strokes for different folks! Should place back! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.229.128.203 (talk) 08:44, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

There was a clear consensus in the deletion discussion that the article was spam and should be deleted. Having reviewed the discussion and the source article, I am satisfied that I followed the correct procedure was followed. If you wish to challenge this, I invite you to list the decision at WP:DRV for community review. Lankiveil (speak to me) 10:28, 29 April 2009 (UTC).

AfDs

all the AfDs I have nominated have reasons. laughable refers to the X-Y relationship not the article creator. on the same note is saying random insulting the creator as well? LibStar (talk) 13:23, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

no, I said laughable refers to the nature of the relationship. similarly many other editors have commented laughable in AfDs or "kill this article with fire", the creator had obsessive compulsive disorder. Civility is based on good faith editing. you have to remember this creator has wasted a lot of editors' time on Wikipedia. on the same note is saying random insulting the creator as well? LibStar (talk) 13:29, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
the user's behaviour was bordering on vandalism, and was banned twice for "Excessive stub creation" and again on a sockpuppet. Many of the articles were created with no consideration of notability. I'm not a psychologist but the behaviour was irrationally obsessive as if the user needed to do this on Wikipedia. The sufferer feels compelled to voluntarily perform irrational, time-consuming, and distressing physical behaviors. LibStar (talk) 13:41, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
I've already given you 1 piece of evidence. I don't know why you're defending a banned user. regardless of whether this person had mental illness or not (that is not the issue here), they broke Wikipedia rules repeatedly and now editors are spending hours fixing up the mess. LibStar (talk) 13:52, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
so you spent all that time writing up that alert? might I add that another user said he has that disorder. I don't necessarily agree. so when I don't respond in a way you like you go to wiki alert. you might have noticed I've even put up one article since you contacted me without mention of words laughable or obsessive.
