Serial Entrepreneur

Hello Largoplazo, thank you for your feedback on my page entry for Serial Entrepreneur. I am obviously new to Wikipedia, but strongly felt it needs to be documented or mentioned. This term is always used and there is no information on it anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Webera02 (talkcontribs) 22:20, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Claudia Chase (pornstar)

Can you please remove the first 2 of 3 notices you put on the page? There is a reference and you can see for yourself that I am notable. Star in over 50 films and over 300 scenes. Thank you. I did not get a very warm reception the last time I was here when I tried to correct some information about my friends, and I don't appreciate all the knee-jerk warnings. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could watch my page and prevent vandals from attacking it - it's a very hateful industry I work in. ClaudiaChase (talk) 04:44, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I'll take a look at the IMDB reference to see if it's sufficient to cover the content you've put in the article, and possibly replace it with a refimprove tag. As for notability, Wikipedia's criteria for notability of living persons apply. No matter how many films or scenes you've appeared in, you won't be considered "notable" for Wikipedia's purposes unless there's significant coverage of you in reliable sources. The warnings serve a critical purpose on Wikipedia. —Largo Plazo (talk) 04:49, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for responding. Yes, I totally understand coz there's lots of vandalism and stuff. But, I have more films and more scenes under my belt (so to speak) as many of the other porn actresses listed. If they are listed... well, you probably understand my point.ClaudiaChase (talk) 05:01, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Well ... you should take a look at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. —Largo Plazo (talk) 05:52, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Ntsukunyane Mphanya

I hadn't thought of the problem that this editor is using the real name of an African politician and we don't know if it is the same person - I see it's been suggested that this is actually Leeman. I've brought up the impersonation problem at BLPN and I'll see if anyone responds, if not I'll take it to ANI - I'm too involved to take Admin action. Dougweller (talk) 11:57, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

thanks for deleting that i did not notice it was copyright.WiteinkρεβῼTalk/Stalk 01:15, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Just so you know, even if you don't see a copyright notice, under modern copyright law most written material is protected by copyright automatically, unless it is expressly placed in the public domain, or it's in the public domain by law (such as publications of the United States government), or the copyright has expired. So, in general, you shouldn't make Wikipedia articles out of text you've copied from other websites. Regards, —Largo Plazo (talk) 02:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks bro i wont do that. is it ok if i use parts of the text. ide ask Halfshadow but he is "not obligated to answer my questions." thanks for the info.WiteinkρεβῼTalk/Stalk 02:21, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

There's a such a thing as "fair use" which means, among a number of things, that you can quote a short passage for purposes of documenting that a source actually says what you are claiming it says or to show that it supports something you are writing. When you do copy small portions of someone else's material under fair use, you need to acknowledge the source. See WP:Citing sources. (I'm not a lawyer, and can't give you details about fair use, and also I don't know how the copyright law operates outside of the United States, though much of it is now covered by international agreement.) —Largo Plazo (talk) 02:24, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the help.WiteinkρεβῼTalk/Stalk 02:29, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, just wanted to let you know that an earlier version (and I don't think it was any different) was previously deleted in speedy fashion. See my notification, and the lack of such matter in the history. Even after your admirable effort to clean it up it is still, in my opinion, way too spammy--but I'll leave that up to you. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 23:37, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

I see what you mean. I've wound up chopping it way, WAY down. I wasn't sure I could out and out call it promotional, but there were a lot of other problems. I do see sources supporting notability out there, though. —Largo Plazo (talk) 01:11, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
And then he put the article back the way it was, so I've db-spammed it after all. —Largo Plazo (talk) 01:57, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Priya Sharma

Hello Largoplazo. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Priya Sharma, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 11:04, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I missed the part about Sticky TV, which I assume is the part you see as conveying significance. The rest of it was unremarkable. Singing solo at the World Championships of Performing Arts just means that she was an entrant in a talent competition. —Largo Plazo (talk) 12:31, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Talk page

Is it an obligation, or just preferred to use English on talk pages at WP:EN? --Tonyjeff (talk) 20:48, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

At WP:Talk page guidelines (the paragraph labeled "Use English") the pertinent provision is in a section titled "Good practices". I don't think you're going to get banned for comments in another language, but talk pages are generally meant for communications of interest to the English Wikipedia community and it's best if the English Wikipedia community can understand them. —Largo Plazo (talk) 20:55, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Colette Carr deletion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cNziOlVs6U Honestly I feel as though if an artist has a music video and it's gained notability from many fans then the artist should have a page honestly if you don't think she's known much just edit the page it's simple —Preceding unsigned comment added by Buckwheat328 (talkcontribs) 23:21, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but we don't make up the rules all over again every time someone posts a new article, and it isn't a matter of either what I personally think about Colette Carr or what I personally think about the rules. Under the rules that we have, lots of people clicking the "Add to Favorites" button for YouTube video doesn't count as a gauge of notability.
Besides, how many is "many"? I don't even see where it says how many "fans" there are. All I see is that there are 308 reviews. If that's what you're referring too, 308 fans isn't exactly platinum. —Largo Plazo (talk) 01:11, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your help

Hi LargoPlazo, I just noticed the editing work that you did to the Ospina Coffee article. Thank you very much for your help. I do appreciate your experience in editing and your proficiency in the English language, both in grammar and composition. You obviously have a less passionate literary style. I don’t know your cultural background, but I am sure you understand that Latinos are more passionate than Anglo Saxons. Thus, I am grateful for your help and contributions. This is precisely what I have been asking so insistently, the editing help of an experienced Wikipedian. To the changes you made, I had to re-introduce the name of "Pedro" Nel Ospina. "Pedro" is his first name and "Nel" is his middle name. We either call him Pedro Nel Ospina or General Ospina. Nel Ospina just doesn’t sound right. Thanks, --Grancafé (talk) 05:21, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

PS. I also re-introduced the name of "Tulio" Ospina Vasquez, because there are two Ospina Vásquez referred to a few paragraphs above, Tulio and Mariano. I think it is necessary to identify which of the two Ospina Vásquez is the father of Ospina Perez. Thanks, --Grancafé (talk) 05:30, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, you're welcome, I guess. I know you didn't mean to be insulting by it, but I don't care for your resorting to national stereotypes to explain the situation. I'm perfectly capable of writing passionately in venues where it's appropriate. This isn't one of those venues. And when you say that this is what you'd been asking for, I'm going to point out to you that several different people, including me, made edits of this nature before, and we explained to you the reasons, and you thanked us—and then you went ahead and put the material back and said the removals were unjustified. Basically, what you're thanking me for now, I already went over with you six weeks ago, and again three weeks ago. If you don't remember, then please see above in this very page, the section at #Ospina Coffee Mutilated.
Thanks for the clarification on the names. —Largo Plazo (talk) 05:36, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
There was no offense or insult intended. That is not my nature. To the contrary, I try to be graceful and grateful. I did not mean that you were incapable of writing a passionate article; what I meant was that there are significant differences in literary styles and expressions between Latinos and Anglo Saxons. That’s all, and that's true. Please don’t feel offended by this fact of life. We all have different talents and gifts; that is the beauty of diversity. And finally, I do mean it when I say thank you. We do have differences of opinion and that is why it is important to discuss this kind of issues. That’s what makes the difference between civilization and barbarism. Thanks again for your help and contributions. Best,--Grancafé (talk) 06:17, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Shon Brooks

I've got no real opinion about whether it's fundamentally promotional, but since you do, don't forget the subpage User:Habeebah/Shon Brooks!  Glenfarclas  (talk) 16:17, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Rollbacker

Hi. I've been looking over your contributions and you certainly seem to do good work here. I've gone ahead and issued you rollback rights. Please be careful with the privilege - it can be easily lost. I recommend you carefully read up on the what you should do and should not do with rollback, then practice here before using it. I'm confident you'll use it wisely. If for some reason you don't want it, let me know and I'll revert.

You may wish to display {{User rollback}} on your user page. Happy editing. Toddst1 (talk) 17:22, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I appreciate it. I see there's a new (rollback) link next to the top item on an article's History page, and also when I look at a diff with the most recent item. On the other hand, I have always had these links: [rollback (AGF)] || [rollback] || [rollback (VANDAL)]. I'm not sure I know what the difference is! —Largo Plazo (talk) 17:30, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
You can get most of these privs from WP:TW, but rollback allows you to roll back multiple (or all) edits of a user. Toddst1 (talk) 17:34, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
