Contested deletion[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam

I hope this message finds you well. I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your kind review. I have a deep appreciation for Wikipedia's rigorous content guidelines and unwavering commitment to maintaining quality standards.

I kindly request your reconsideration of my article for the following reasons:

Notability: The subject of my article, Low Yok Lin, served as the Founding Director of the Malayan Broadcasting Service, a pivotal milestone in Malaysia's broadcasting history. This institution later evolved into the current national broadcasting service in Malaysia and played a significant role in countering the communist insurgency during its time. Furthermore, Mr. Low actively contributed to the Malaysian community and garnered notable attention in newspapers for his dedicated service.

Reliable Sources: I have ensured that my article is supported by both primary and secondary sources, which attest to the accuracy of the information provided.

Adherence to Wikipedia Guidelines: Having carefully reviewed Wikipedia's notability guidelines and content policies, I believe my article aligns with these established standards. If there are specific areas that require correction or enhancement, I am more than willing to make the necessary improvements.

I sincerely hope that you may reconsider the deletion of the page in light of this information. I am still gathering additional information to futher improve on the article over time and with its exposure to the wider readers, I also hope to get their contribution. It is indeed difficult to gather data as the information is close to 100+ years ago. I am fully prepared to engage in a constructive dialogue and provide any additional evidence or clarifications that may be required.

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the process for requesting undeletion or your direction to the relevant channels for such requests.

Thank you for your valuable time and consideration. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to discuss this.

matter further with you and other experienced Wikipedia editors. Sincerely,

Hello LauSawLan -- Your main user page is not the right place for writing articles. I have moved the draft to User:LauSawLan/Low Yok Lin for you, where you can continue to develop it. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 14:33, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict thanks Espresso,😊 truly appreciate it. May I know where the areas are that I need to make further improvements to pass the review process? My intention is also to get exposure from the general public (assuming it is approved) to solicit additional supporting information, as it is a living document that requires refinement over time LauSawLan (talk) 15:06, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again -- Generally I'd suggest starting with a short lead to indicate what makes the subject notable, which might run something like:
Low Yok Lin (1900–[death year]) was a Malaysian businessman who was a founding director of the Malayan Broadcasting Services.
Then go on to write about the subject's life using neutral non-promotional wording, and talking about specifics, usually in chronological order, and most importantly basing everything on sources that have been published (such as newspapers, books or magazines), rather than on personal knowledge. You should try to cite your sources at the end of the information that they are used for, at least one citation per paragraph. See Help:Referencing for beginners.
Once you have finished you can ask for review from the Articles for creation service. Alternatively if you are not connected with the subject, it is acceptable to move the finished article into mainspace yourself and wait for it to be patrolled.
If you need help with editing or asking for review, then the Teahouse is a friendly forum for new editors. Happy editing! Espresso Addict (talk) 15:30, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict thanks a lot for the guidance. let me improve on it LauSawLan (talk) 15:47, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
hi @expresso Addict
I have done all the cleaning up, I cannot seem to find the bottom to move it for approval... could it be Mt account is locked. been trying for hours to figure out. LauSawLan (talk) 05:15, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict thanks again. sorry for the spam as I'm not sure whether I'm writing to the right reply track. I've been trying for hours to find the move button but to no avail could it be that my account is locked? LauSawLan (talk) 05:16, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello LauSawLan -- (I've just got this -- your first ping misspelled my user id.) Your account isn't blocked but it looks like you don't yet have enough experience to be permitted to move articles yourself. You can submit it for review at Articles for Creation by going into the text-based editor mode and pasting {{subst:submit}} at the very top, and then saving the page. You should see a big yellow box that says "Review waiting, please be patient". If you have problems doing that you can ask at the Teahouse or at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. (Sorry, I'm not the right person to ask about how to do basic tasks -- I don't use the visual editor and I'm still using the user interface from 2006!!) Hope this helps, Espresso Addict (talk) 08:09, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict thanks a lot appreciate it very much. will figure it out . have a good weekend:) LauSawLan (talk) 08:48, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Low Yok Lin[edit]

Hello LauSawLan, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Low Yok Lin, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Low Yok Lin.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MicrobiologyMarcus}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
