Piri and Piri & Tommy stylisations[edit]

Hi Launchballer. I got a notification earlier that the article you created for Unlock It had been linked to a Wikidata item, which then led me to see that you started Piri and have worked on Piri & Tommy. You may be aware as you've been here for years, but we generally disregard stylisations of artist names and song/album titles per MOS:CAPS, WP:TMRULES and MOS:CAPS. If sources pretty consistently stylise the artists' names and song titles then there's a case for putting "stylised in lowercase" in the lead of the articles, but when that's done, we shouldn't also still stylise the artist/title in the lead (as then it would be redundant to point it out) and throughout the body of the article. Maybe you've seen, but when move discussions happen (a recent example I can think of is Jvke, who stylises his name as "JVKE"), even when some editors have argued pretty strongly that "sources consistently render x's name like this", editors mostly reject such upper- and lower-case stylisations in favour of standardising them. I can see quite a lot of sources do put Piri and Tommy and the titles of their works in lower-case, and so noting the stylisations in the lead is fine/expected. But their names and titles shouldn't be rendered in lower-case throughout the rest of their articles. If you disagree, then I suppose I'll start move requests, but as I said, in my experience they hardly ever work out in favour of the stylisations (as if they did, fans of singers like Ariana Grande would have their way in stylising those of her works that are rendered in lower-case, and I believe a lot of these discussions/general consensuses already happened in the 2010s), so it's best to just standardise them now. Ss112 10:26, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ss112: piri and piri & tommy: agreed.
soft spot and on & on: not agreed. I take the view that stylisation of those articles act as natural disambiguation, per WP:NCDAB and WP:DIFFCAPS, and had I seen that on & on does not currently exist I would have started that article there. I also object to you removing the Instagram page from Loud LDN, as WP:ELNO specifically allows "link[s] to an official page of the article's subject", which is exactly what that is. I need longer to decide whether to decide whether or not to put in a move request; piri's soft spot looks like it might be the primary topic for Soft Spot, but I want to see where the pageviews settle before doing anything. Launchballer 10:53, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Soft Spot is not an article for Piri & Tommy's song, and somebody might be looking for that topic but not capitalise it and have wound up at the Piri song. It's very confusing to have articles at soft spot and Soft Spot so I've disambiguated both. I myself was confused when I capitalised the links on Piri and Piri & Tommy. I'm sure you know (and you yourself might do so as well), but a lot of Internet users do not capitalise things when using search bars (Google and YouTube, for example, automatically decapitalises when you search things using cases on them as well) so to avoid confusion, it's best to disambiguate pages like I've just done. Cases of letters aren't considered disambiguators in move discussions, and WP:NCMDAB makes no mention of stylisations/case differences being acceptable disambiguators. You can start a move request to see what other users think of both the songs I've just moved, but I don't think it will work out in your favour from experience. Also, Loud LDN's only official page is an Instagram profile? They don't have an official website or anything? WP:ELNO discourages links to Instagram regardless of circumstance. Ss112 11:22, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If Loud LDN have a website, then it's pretty well hidden, because I can't find it. (There is a website called LOUD LDN, but it's for a rolling papers company.) So far as I can tell, their Instagram page is their official website.--Launchballer 11:43, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, I'll restore the Instagram link since you know more about it than I do and I trust that you know there's nothing else. Ss112 11:48, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Piri — images[edit]

I was going to review this for GA, but I stumbled upon an issue that I would prefer to bring to your attention before starting a GA review. All the images were uploaded by a Commons user commons:User:Piri.ioo as "own work", but they include press and other photos. I am unsure if Piri or maybe a publicist uploaded them, but they will need to clarify how they had permission to upload the photos or I will have to put a commons:Template:No permission since tag because we may not have the permission to host them on Commons. I am not sure if you might be in contact with the subject, given the density of your Loud LDN etc. work and some of the edit summaries in that article, or if you might be able to clarify the situation?

I also noticed the Discord mentions—did you know we have an unofficial community Discord server? Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 04:57, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I contacted Piri via Discord in February to ask if she'd consider donating images and she said she owned them. (I'm pretty sure that article hasn't mentioned Discord in over three months - did you see a previous version of it?)--Launchballer 03:32, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sammi Brie: I mean the press image has now been deleted, but for the rest of them, I was under the impression that she'd put her phone somewhere and filmed herself, like she regularly does, because she also uploaded commons:File:Piri on stage at scala 2.png, which cannot possibly have been taken by an audience member.--Launchballer 08:43, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Charting on an albums chart doesn't mean something isn't a mixtape...[edit]

Hello. Not sure what you mean by this. Are you unaware that albums of all different types can make albums charts (the main, the dance albums chart, other genres)? There's no "dance mixtapes chart", not for any country. The UK's Official Charts Company has rules that a release over a certain amount of songs means the release is eligible to chart on its albums charts, whether it's an EP, a mixtape, a compilation, a soundtrack, a studio or a live album. If the artists consider it a mixtape and in the absence of a critical source calling it something else (you've even cited NME grouping it as a "mixtape or EP"), I think it's safe to say it's a mixtape. How do you feel about moving 2023 concert abuse spate to Decline of concert etiquette in the post-pandemic era or something similar? I provided a rationale on the talk page. There’s evidence that this recent, post-pandemic phenomenon began earlier in 2022 or even late 2021, so getting rid of the date from the title is a good idea. Viriditas (talk) 22:13, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This looks greatly improved. Nice work. My only complaint at this moment is that you've got super notable stuff in the body that you didn't include in the lead. Viriditas (talk) 23:06, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I passed it, but I would encourage you to offer a more scholarly hook. Just my POV. Viriditas (talk) 00:23, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I made some changes to the lead you wrote. Feel free to add stuff back in, but try to keep it general and summarize instead of giving exact details. The point is to avoid an inside baseball approach and to write for readers who know nothing about the topic, and yet keep them interested in wanting to know more. I think previous versions didn’t do this, which is why Liz was so confused. And if she has a problem with it, you can imagine others do as well. If you keep it summary style and avoid specific details, you will be okay. Viriditas (talk) 02:37, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Citations in tables[edit]

Hello. In addition to what I said here, in response to your summary, I'm not sure where it says in our guidelines that even if information is sourced in the prose that we shouldn't call the citation for that information in a table that lists that information with a refname as well. It's probably better to do so anyway. As I pointed out, there are editors who do not care what the body of the article says—they see a bunch of singles or even albums without articles proving that they were released and (over)tag them as unsourced. Also, if a citation is put below a chart position, that means it's only intended to be there temporarily until the permanent header source updates. Removing these sometimes leaves the new peak position unsourced, so be wary of that. Ss112 13:02, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The relevant policy is WP:REPEATCITE, which says that information sourced once doesn't need to be sourced again.--Launchballer 14:18, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I always interpreted that guideline as existing so as not to clutter (per the example) sentences with citations every few words when the information has already been sourced earlier in the body, and to that, interpreted it as being about prose, not if that information is presented in tabular form later in the article. Some users only go to certain sections of an article (e.g. the discography), and we can't always expect that readers/editors will scan prose throughout the article to see if that information is sourced before they tag or do whatever they will do, even if Grace's article and discography are not yet that long. Some users (like the two I pointed out to you in the relevant edit summary) will just drive-by over-tag and sure, you could revert them if that happens and cite WP:REPEATCITE at them, but it really isn't cluttering the singles table as-is and to avoid any scenario like that, it just seems more sensible to utilise ref names like this now. Die Kuranten edit[edit]

Thank you so much for removing that sentence fragment from the Die Kuranten article. I was in the middle of writing, had to step away, and hit publish on reflex. Much obliged! Kazamzam (talk) 16:09, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Hi. I have made necessary changes to Malayalam softcore pornography. Can you please review it. Thilsebatti (talk) 12:58, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the further feedback. I wrote the article after conducting extensive research and by mainly referring to old magazines and scholarly journals. The problem was that I didn't know how to attach the same references to multiple places. That is the reason why inline citations were missing. Now I've learnt it and has provided references to each crucial piece of information. I do have some offline references from popular film magazines or periodicals from the time period that I haven't attached. Please let me know if anything else is remaining.
