Deletion of "Maleng"

[edit]

Hello.

Two-three weeks ago I made an article called "Maleng", containing information about an organisation which is established in Uganda and Norway. As we are in the start-up phase with registering trademarks, organisation numbers, etc, and have not been able to make a web page yet, even though we have bougth the domains maleng.org, maleng.no, maleng.net, I was not able to link the article to anything tangible at that stage. I was planning to work more on the article later. I was therefore very disturbed by the fact that you have removed the article. I hope you will un-delete it. The only proof I guess I can give you right now is our Facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/updates.php?id=167922650459&sent=1&e=0#/pages/Maleng/167922650459?v=wall, as I can not attach any formal documents here either.

Maleng was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a company which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:CORP for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one and provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and I will consider undeleting it.
You may alternatively file a deletion review request. Stifle (talk) 19:41, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Maleng, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:18, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} The organisation Maleng has now been mentioned by a second party's web page. I hope using this source will be enough to undeleted Maleng. (Lbegby (talk) 00:57, 15 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

WP:Deletion Review would be a good place to go. Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. 00:59, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Facebook" is not a source, if that was what you were thinking. Otherwise, please leave a note of the webpage here or on my talk page. Intelligentsium 01:00, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict):It is generally better to recreate deleted articles with multiple sources, but I suppose it would depend on the source and what was in the articles (as I didn't see it).  fetchcomms 01:01, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the above. The best source would be a notable news article (like bbc, cnn, or a local news website). Or another encyclopedia. Just image. Everybody creating pages, (like the name of each Pokemon creatures, name of each backyard band, etc), then pretty soon Wikipedia would run out of space to store all the pages. --Tyw7  (Talk • Contributions) 01:04, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} Yes, I understand that Facebook doesn't count. Try this one: [1] However I will try to post the request on the Deletion Review page.(Lbegby (talk) 01:08, 15 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Sorry but I only read english... --Tyw7  (Talk • Contributions) 01:11, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, the article (in Norwegian?) seems to be about Michelle Obama. Intelligentsium 01:12, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}Yes, but you are still able to scroll down and find the word Maleng, aren't you? The name is written in the same way even if the text is in Norwegian. Concerning the Deletion Review Page, I wasn't able to understand how to enter my contribution there, so I hope we can resolve the issue here instead. (Lbegby (talk) 01:14, 15 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I don't think that makes Maleng pass WP:N quite yet. You might just have to wait until it becomes more notable.  fetchcomms 01:16, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
YOu don't have to put a double helpme template as long as the first one is still active. --Tyw7  (Talk • Contributions) 01:19, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
