You should be aware that the rules on red links to categories are different to red links to articles - per WP:REDNOT you should never leave red links to categories, either create the category or don't add the link. So you should not have created articles such as Awadh Bihari Choudhary and Srikant Nirala and left them with red links to eg Category:Bihar MLAs 1990-1995. That's because on Wikipedia date ranges like that don't generally use the hyphens you find on your keyboard but en dashes ie Category:Bihar MLAs 1990–1995. A convenient way to do it is if you see a red link, use WP:HOTCAT to edit the category down to the first year (ie Bihar MLAs 1990) and then let Hotcat fill in the rest - it also knows whether the second year is in 4 digit or 2 digit form. Bihar MLAs 2010-2015(with a hyphen) to becomeBihar MLAs 2010) and then HotCat will work out that you really meanBihar MLAs 2010–2015(ie with an en dash). You can then just press OK and you're done. what are you doing on my user page? I don't understand your edit comment, and surely if you have comments on that it belongs on my talk page? yes, i know i'm only supposed to have one level of each language, i was in the process of editing it. ah, i looked at the edit. So THAT's why the template names i'd just got working broke. From my experimenting on my user-page i found that For whatever reason {{user iso15924|Cyrl|1}} only works with a capital C and {{user cyrl-1}} uses a lowercase in the template name, though it does still link to the same non-red category. If you know how to set up an alias so that the shortened {{user cyrl-1}} version is case insensitive, please do. Irtapil (talk) 15:30, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
