Zebunnisa Street[edit]

Zebunnisa Street in Karachi is named after Mughal Princess Zebunnisa who was the eldest daughter of the last of the major Mughal, Aurangzeb Alamgir. As a member of the royal family, Zeb-un-Nissa studied not only Arabic but also Persian, mathematics, and astronomy, under the chief scholars of the realm. She was a Sufi and poet.

Zebunnisa Street in Saddar is not named after Zaib-un-nissa Hamidullah.

Siddiqui 15:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zaib-un-nissa Street IS named after Zaib-un-nissa Hamidullah, in honour of her journalistic and literary contributions to Pakistan.

Adab, nice to meet you. Actually, the page may be moved to the correct page - and I think that you should yourself be able to do this. In case, you do not find move button, then plz continue editing, you will find the same appearing soon. In case, the spelling is correct as told by you, I shall shortly (in a day or two) move the page, if no one does this. Thanks for calling. Nice editings... --Bhadani 17:07, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay. Thank you so much for your advice and time. --Le Grey Intellectual 17:11, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see any problems with citing references from her own books. The ultimate point of citing references is so that any reader can look up information independently of wikipedia and ensure that the articles are factually correct. I'd image the "about the author" bit tells the truth so by all means go ahead. It's always nice to have online citations too if possible, this has the benefit that a reader on the net can check facts immediately without needing to go to a library for example. Kind regards. SeanMack 10:05, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If it were me, I would use this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Cite_book method to cite the books, which also means including the ISBN numbers. Additionally people like to see what fact came from what book and even page numbers if possible.
This should help in making the inline links http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cite.php
It's a bit more work, but after that, I can't see anyone having a problem with the article. Good luck!
If you need help with it let me know and I can help you - however it won't be until tomorrow as I am going out soon SeanMack 11:20, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zebunnisa[edit]

Thanks, but no thanks for moving/renaming Zebunnisa to Zeb-un-Nissa. I really enjoyed your comment about NPOV in Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Siddiqui page. I guess anybody writing about their grandmother or/and grandfather can never be accussed of having POV. You are encouraged to contribute to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Siddiqui and add your comments there. This is place where Indians, Israelis, Qadianis, and some others people created a page to discuss my edits. You would be in company of fellow travelers.

Siddiqui 16:42, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was reading article Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah; it was wonderful to read about courageous woman. But to meet high standards some work needs to be done, especially in flow, and how different paragraphs are connected with each other. I think it is good candidate for “Good Article”. If you need help I'll glade to contribute. --Spasage 05:33, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

Salam. Your article, Altaf Husain, was an utter and total plagiarism. I have removed the article, and put one line. If you choose to re-write the article, please do so.--Le Grey Intellectual 16:13, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: I've found another plagiarism, Mohsin-ul-Mulk. How many articles have you plagiarised? This is simply disgusting.--Le Grey Intellectual 16:42, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT 2: Yet another plagiarism, Viqar-ul-Mulk. Agh. I am editing all the plagiarisms you have posted in order to make them proper articles. --Le Grey Intellectual 16:50, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Its good to see a fine journalist in making, who is already harassing people :-). Anyway, let me try to remove some of your concerns. In any piece of knowledge its not considered plagiarism to add excepts, and give relevent citations. If this would have been the case no education was possible as people would be terrified to mention any info. When I add some article I usually try to add citations if it has an except from another article and this conforms to the norm. Fot Altaf Husain article I did present the referrence. Similarly, I mentioned in links the referrences for the last two articles you talked about. These were some of the earliest of articles I added and I put them as templates to be worked on. I hope you would excuse me from the criminal charges. Thanks for mentioning this to me, and I wish you best of luck for your studies and future profession. --Falcon007 21:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fatima Jinnah Photo[edit]

According to [1] you are the Owner and author of ZHandFJ.jpg. Fatima Jinnah died on July 8, 1967 but you were born on 24th of April, 1992, as per your user page. How could you have taken this photo ? You are checking copyright violations of other wikipedians but rules don't seem to apply to yourself. Please indicate the correct copyright ownership of this photo. I will be reporting this to Wikipedia for speedy deletion of the photo. All the photos on Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah require correct copyright. Siddiqui 07:03, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My mother holds the copyright to all these pictures, and has allowed me to post them. Please refrain from going to attacks on articles just because you don't like me.--Le Grey Intellectual 09:01, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have been checking and labelling articles and section for plagiarism. Then you should also be judged by the same rules.
If these photos were taken by your mother then you did not take them. Why did you wrote Self-made [2] ? Plagiarism is representing somebody else's work as your own. In this case, your say that they were taken by your mother but you falsely declared in copyright that they were taken by you. That is plagiarism.
You wrote: Please refrain from going to attacks on articles just because you don't like me. What about all other articles by many wikipedians that you have labeled coyright violation. You didn't like the authors of these articles ? Was that personal issue or copyright issue ?
Siddiqui 12:07, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You know what, you're actually right about the self-made thing. So, now what do I do? Please tell me About the plagiarism, other users have agreed with me. I'd never even heard of the users who'd committed until I checked it up. Don't try to turn this around on me. You did plagiarise that article; please admit it.--Le Grey Intellectual 13:44, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be a self-appointed person checking copyright and plagiarism of articles in Wikipedia. Then you should judge yourself also by the same rules that you judge others. You wrote that these photos are Self-made [3] when they were not made by you, by your own admission. That clearly establishes that you plagiarised somebody's else work as your own.
Siddiqui 23:14, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MY. Mother. Holds. The. Copyright. To. These. Pictures. She has allowed me to post them and say thast they were made by me. I don't think anyone would waste this much time over one image in an encyclopedia unless they personally have something against the author. If it pains you so deeply, I'll ask my mother to write a personal letter to Wikipedia.--Le Grey Intellectual 14:42, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you making this a personal issue ? I think this is ethical issue. You have been checking the copyright and plagiarism of articles in Wikipedia. Are you checking them due to personal animosity against the authors or for ethical reasons ?
Siddiqui 15:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How can I have personal animostiy against someone if I've never even heard of them before? This is an ethical issue.--Le Grey Intellectual 15:45, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good. We agree on the point that checking copyright and plagiarism is a ethical issue and not personal issue. So if you did not make the Images then please go to their pages and change the copyright from Self made to appropriate copyright category. It is a simple task. Also please change your message at [4]:
I have uploaded certain pictures of my grandmother, for the article about her. My mother, who holds the copyright to these photographs, has given me permission to post them. However, I supect that for personal reasons, User:Siddiqui is trying to get these photos deleted. Please tell me what I should do
You are escalating the issue and it will only besmirch your reputation in Wikidedia. Since this time you made a mistake.
Siddiqui 15:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, I won't escalate it.--Le Grey Intellectual 16:32, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You did not removed my name from [5]. You could have changed my name to a user. Jkelly replied then I had to give my point of view also. You just removed my objection from [6] rather than changing the Licensing information. You have to change the license or copyright info not the copyright violation tag.
Siddiqui 04:59, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Ill remove your name, but I'm a bit confused. How do I change the license/copyright info? Sorry, I'm a little frazzled right now, cos of exams.--Le Grey Intellectual 08:01, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use the Upload file page to reload the same image again. It will replace the existing image and will also allow you to reenter the licensing info. Make sure your file has the same name as the one being replaced.

License tagging for Image:Zaib-un-NissaHamidullah.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zaib-un-NissaHamidullah.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

India -> India + Pakistan + Bangladesh[edit]

I and User:Rama's Arrow were discussing [7] linkage of pages to India when refer to pre-1947 India (undivided India). Please have a look at discussion, and comment. You can also invite user interested in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Following is statement to start:

India after 1947 consists of three countries, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. When we use word India, in articles, refereeing to whole India, links are such that they bring us to present day India (Republic of India), reducing size of pre-1947 India considerably. Is it possible that when we refer to pre-1947 India we use a term which encompasses whole India not just present day India? Please comment.

Following are suggestions:

For many contributions with limited reward, I present you with this Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar. Sharkface217 00:29, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am a great admirerer of your work on this site relating to Pakistan. I have started several pages relating to the Middle East (user:sharkface217). Sadly, I am not able to update them much due to limited information about the topics and/or translation issues. If you could ever look over my Middle East-related stubs, it would be most helpful.

Enjoy the Barnstar.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah Painting.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah Painting.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:20, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Bibijuneold.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bibijuneold.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 11:32, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Zaib-un-Nissa Hamidullah.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [8], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 15:24, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
