Van Persie[edit]

Hi, some of the honours you added are highly questionable. How is ninth place, seventh place or being on a ten-man shortlist considered an honour for example? Also, his top scoring achievements are more records than honours. Phrases such as "he gained world class status" are based purely on your opinion. What, for example, is the criteria for being considered world class? Kosack (talk) 20:41, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Being ranked 9th and 7th best player in the world is an honour, it’s not a 10 man shortlist. Ballon’dor Is the biggest thing you can achieve individually as a player and coming 9th and 7th clearly means “one of the best players in the world” and obviously “world class” And nothing is based on my opinion. It’s based on professionals votes, pundits, fans, journalists, managers. It’s what he is regarded as and what he achieved from 2011. All this is sourced. I have sourced everything. Check every other football players Wikipedia page and ask the same question. I will be re-editing soon with more sources. Thanks Leelindsay (talk) 11:07, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would finishing ninth in the World Cup be an honour? What's the cut off point? Would the first placed player consider it an honour if they finished ninth? All of this is based on your opinion. Even the phrase world class has no clear definition here, is the ninth and tenth place world class but eleventh isn't? Kosack (talk) 07:21, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also worth mentioning that Transfermarkt is not a reliable source. Kosack (talk) 07:42, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not continually keep readding the same content. You have been reverted on more than one occasion by more than one editor. See WP:BRD, establish consensus before looking to make the same edit again, thanks. Kosack (talk) 05:46, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

These are honours though..read any other football player Wikipedia, there is similar info Leelindsay (talk) 14:33, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Winners, yes, runners up and even third place, yes, but ninth place? Looking through previous ninth place winners, the vast majority actually don'ttdon't mention it (which includes the FA rated Thierry Henry). Kosack (talk) 17:13, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BRD, please do not continually keep adding the information without providing a reason as to why finishing ninth is an honour. Kosack (talk) 08:18, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Right so there are around 265 million footballers in the world. Ballon D’Or is regarded as the most prestigious individual award you can receive as a player. It determines the best player in the world. To come 7th and 9th is an honour. And individual honour clearly. Every other player on Wikipedia has these honours noted. Even those who come 10th, 15th etc. I see no reason why these facts get removed. Do you have any more reasons?

No it's not on every player's page at all, as I've already stated. In fact, the vast majority don't include it. Finishing ninth in any other competition is not considered an honour, so why is the Ballon D'or any different? Should we list honours for players who finished 20th, 50th, 100th? Kosack (talk) 19:26, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. Because we are talking about a world player of the year called the ballon dO’r. Being in the top 10 players in the world is an honour

Again, as I've said, why is the Ballon D'or any different to every other award in the world which we wouldn't dream of adding ninth place for? The Ballon D'or is not even an official FIFA award so it holds no official status. The top 10 is your own opinion of a cut off point, why is the top 10 notable? In the 2018 Ballon d'Or, 10th place Harry Kane beat 11th place N'Golo Kante by a single vote. But Kane's is an honour and Kante's isn't? The two players in 9th in the Ballon D'or's youth trophy, the Kopa Trophy, didn't even receive a single vote so do they get an honour? Kosack (talk) 07:31, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
