Re: Question: Fibromyalgia prognosis

[edit]

Dear Leeraven172:

It is not about the journal but the kind of the study. Secondary sources are review articles. Regarding this topic and what kind of publications are considered verifiable, you can expand information here.

Thank you very much for your kindness.

Development of page addition whilst researching

[edit]

Research from Dr. R Gates and Dr. M Rutherford have found that fibromyalgia symptoms for the majority of sufferers do become progressively worse over time. [1] They discuss that the likely cause of the gradual decline is due to the chronic, autoimmune and or degenerative nature of the underlying causes associated with the condition. More than 50% of fibromyalgia sufferers have small fibre peripheral neuropathy (degeneration of pain nerves) which is a peripheral cause of pain. Whilst sufferers are encouraged to exercise as part of their therapy, pain often limits physical activity, resulting in de-conditioning. This in turn leads to reduced tolerance for daily activities and an increase in pain and fatigue.
