Russell Mark

I see you've been working on improving this article- thanks! I notice that some of the additions you've made are very helpful. But some of them are not neutral, verifiable facts - instead, they're opinions and analysis, which Wikipedia doesn't allow. And some of the additions you've made aren't cited- you haven't identified the reliable, independent sources that verify that the facts you've added are correct. One of us is going to need to go carefully through this article, removing opinions, analysis, and uncited facts. You've put so much work into the changes that I thought you would prefer to do it; I'd hate to accidentally remove anything that really ought to stay. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:03, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

I didn't hear from you, or see you starting to make the necessary edits, so I gave it a try. I'm sure I removed stuff that could be sourced and important; please feel free to re-add the verifiable information with sources, and let me know if you need any help or advice while you're working. I'm sure you've already figured this out, but you can use the 'history' tab to compare different versions of the article, which makes it easy to see what I changed and to restore the parts that meet Wikipedia's guidelines. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:33, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Listen, I just hate that you are a new editor who is starting off with conflict in this way. But you really can not keep adding unsourced information and personal analysis to Russell Mark. Facts have to have sources; statements that praise Mark, like "His esteem in the Party was demonstrated by the fact he was given the honour to personally introduce..." and "has carved out an enormous reputation as being one of the countries leading "after dinner" speakers..." just have no place in a neutrally phrased encyclopedia article. I like that you want to make the article better, and I hate to see you wasting time and effort making changes that I have to remove, when you could be making real improvements to the article with that same time and effort. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
