Whitney Houston

[edit]

Sorry, but the source says Whitney is coloratura. I don't care what other sources say, unless you find a source that says she is, I will say that she is a mezzo coloratura, but don't attribute your own research to sources. The source clearly says COLORATURA, NOT MEZZO. And saying that mezzos are more sultry and soulful again is your own research and not credited from a source.

whitney is to a dramatic mezzo take a look

That was from an earlier version of whit's wiki page.

it still says shes a mezzo soprano i dont think information change u can just move the site or call it "earlier" but she is a mezzo

I'm sorry but the source you gave 2 me used an earlier version of the page. Because the source wasn't credited on wikipedia, it wouldn't be credible on the new site because it came from an uncredible source. Take a look.

yea but she is a mezzo soprano just listen to her vocal range she is not a coloratura and you know that......mariah is a coloratura if anything....

That agian is original research. have you heard every note whitney has produced? How do you know that she hasn't gone as high as Mariah. She has hit Eb6 and E6 countless times, hit Bb6 in a live performance of I Wanna Dance with somebody. she even hit an Eb7 in a live performance of Control in 1987. So, yes, she is a coloratura, but doesn't use all her range, unlike Mariah, who does it all the time. Whitney can aslo belt higher and clearer than Mariah. Listen to her duet with Aretha. She hit a B5 in chest voice. Only when you've heard every high note whitney's done, then come and tell me that she is a mezzo.

She has never had colortura abilities. A colortura voice is like Mariah Christina or Minnie riperton - they all do runs and trills etc in superhead tone. Dramatic mix colortura is not a voice type. she was a dramatic mezzo-soprano.

it says whitney is a mezzo soprano and this is not a earlier wiki page.......http://bellsouthpwp.net/h/a/hamidmahdi/Downloads/VOICETYPES.htm

That sight ain't credible. It is all original reserach. Whitney may sing like a mezzo, but actually be a coloratura. have u thought of that? I mean, Christina Aguilera is a coloratura (she has hit F6, G6, G#6, A6, and C7 a number of times), but she prefers to do powerful mid-range belts, like Whitney. And coloratura says nothing about the range. it just means fast trills, runs and vocal embellishement or a singer who does such(e.g. Whitney Houston). read the wiki page on it. It can also mean a singer that can have a light, high, floating voice (Whitney). Here it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coloratura

wjitney does not have a light floating voice.....but whitney be able to do things a coloratura does but she does a more hard cutting edge to her voice.....i did read the wiki page on it and whitney does not @ all fall under a coloratura....

That page is incorrect, it also says that Celine Dion is a mezzo, and I have an authoritive book source saying Celine Dion is a lyric full coloratura soprano. And Houston does have coloratura weight, and height in her voice. And can you both sign your comments.--I'll bring the food (Talk - Contribs - My Watchlist) 21:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
