I know that you mean well by adding your paragraph. However, editorial opinions and such from a womans magazine would not normally be called a reliable source by Wikipedia. You need to add material that can be cited by references, and those should be form reliable sources. Thanks, but please do not keep adding this material to the article. Atom (talk) 01:53, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This was not an editorial I read. This was an article, and it was backed up by a study.

It is true with my husband and I too. My husband is 16 years younger than me, and I see that. -- Linda Olive

Unfortunately anecdotal information can't be put into the article. Now, you say that they referenced the study? If you give me details about the study, I will see if I can find it and cite it and quote directly from the study, rather than way that the writer in the magazine phrased it. That is acceptable within Wikipedia rules, as long as the information is on topic within an article. Atom (talk) 13:37, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Streets of Jerusalem

[edit]

Hi Linda. I'm excited to see someone writing and editing articles about my favorite place: Jerusalem! I'm glad you started the Mamilla Mall article. Whenever you write an article of 1500 characters or more (within a 5-day time frame), you can nominate it for the "Did You Know?" column on the front page. See T:TDYK for more info.

I also noticed that you added a lot of major streets to Template:Streets in Jerusalem. Were you planning to turn all those red links into blue ones by writing articles about them? I tried my hand at Kanfei Nesharim Street, and am currently researching Street of the Prophets, but I'm finding it very hard to come up with information from the internet. If I had a real book on the subject of street histories, it would go a lot better. All the best, Yoninah (talk) 22:20, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I live in Florida now, but I have lived in Jerusalem before. I would move there permanently, but my parents don't want to move there, and I want to live near them. We've been through a lot together, being displaced from our hometown New Orleans. I want to be there for them.

When I lived in Jerusalem, I did read a lot of books on the history of the old and modern city, including the streets. I do not own those books now, and I don't know where to get them in the states, but I do have a goal to write articles on as much of Jerusalem as possible. One issue is that in Jerusalem, many streets change names every few blocks. It is hard to name an article if the street changes names a lot, even though it is physically one street. I have to say, Jerusalem is a confusing city to get around, and it took me a long time to get used to it. Linda Olive (talk) 05:01, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ma'ale HaShalom has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It's just a street. No indication given of any notability. Google books link gives no information about this street.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PamD (talk) 15:46, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Ein Gedi Spa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ein Gedi Spa.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 21:44, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]

Hi Linda!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Hi. When you recently edited Google Street View in Israel, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Palestinian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
